Hi! 2WD since I do not tow anything. For me, 4WD is just extra dead weight and a function that will draw some extra money, not just driving it but also another service point. And another potentially heavy repair object. I'm to old to drive that offensive that I can take advantage of 4WD anyway so 2WD for me. /Superbjoser

Hi all! My experience with DSG and snow is positive! The very first winter with my (then) new car I was coming into a crossing and had to make a full stop. Snowing with about two to four inches of snow on the road already and around 5 degrees cold. Quite steep Uphill. 2WD. Started without a problem with no spinning or hesitation, just a smooth start. This had several reasons. New winter tires (non studded), DSG (YES!), hill holder and the non-spinning function, whatever it's called. My belief is that this will give me a smoother power distribution in 9 of 10 cases, at least with me as the driver. And several drivers after me in that crossing at that time were not as skilled as my DSG-combo... /Superbjoser

Well the only time mine had a struggle starting up (third attempt) it was close to -30 degrees out, -28,9 or something. And it had been out all night and most of the day so it was completely deep frozen. And as I was (still is?) a newbie to the Webasto heater I had it on for a too short time before I tried to start the engine. 10 minutes in that kind of weather is way too little... :think: But it did start up. The gearbox (DSG) where a little slow, needed some rews to move the car. And when rolling: sport suspension! /Superbjoser

Just went out a quickie to have a look at mine. Goodyears of some kind, non-studded, 205/55/16 94T. According to my manual this means a speed limit of 118 mph, a theoretical speed in the winter season IMHO. More important is the load index of 94. The question about the rims, I have no clue. That's for the workshop to deal with.. Your local dealer should know. /Superbjoser

Hi! This depends on your type of winters. European winters with little snow you should be able to keep the size but that will probably cost you more. If you´re not so picky about the size I would go for the 16 inches to a more reasonable cost than the 18:s. And with the load index of 94... I'm very sceptical on the option of 15, would not fit I'm afraid. /Superbjoser

Hi! In my case: Mondeo, Mazda 6, Passat in that order. The 140 CR TDI would had been enough but I opted for the 170 CR instead, liked the extra oumph of it. The Superb for the more relaxed and comfy driving, don't need the sporty part in my family car. /Superbjoser. Sorry for the bad editing but this board does not like Firefox appearently.

Hi! What ever you do, be in contact with the previous owner before exchanging any money for the car. He/she might have very interesting info that the dealer will not tell you. Mandatory: Absolutely no crash history. Minor repairs on doors etc. are OK, but a crash requiring towing from the scene is a no go. If no one else, insurance company will tell you. Second: Check for any indication from water ingress (floors mainly, damp/smell?). Leakage point may be glued windows. Hard to determine. Third: If DSG: It should be smooth and silent. If otherwise: next car. Fourth: Checkout all the electric equipment. Flawless operation (check with previous owner...) or next car. Fifth: Check the paint and point out every little scratch to bring the price down. Especially the sills under the doors are prone to scratches. Besides that and a complete service history: Go a head, but remember: You are on the buyers market. Cool head will save you a lot of kroner. Good luck! That's my two cents. Hi! Had one on my earlier Mondeo. Rarely ever used. Partly stopped working (on the wrong side of course...) after a small chip in the windscreen. Sensitive to small "hits" there I was told later. Not worth the money IMHO, but that's me. /Superbjoser

To be on topic: Mine uses the 6 gear too, in about 120 km/h while cruising (no cruise control, just holding the speed). Just think about acceleration ==> 5:th or 4:th gear. And that is a 170 TDI. That aside, I agree with Tankdave, rather useless on a diesel. /Superbjoser

Hi! One of the things I appreciate with the car is the sound system. It's may be already in the L&K package. However it is, IMHO a huge step up from the ordinary system. But not a perfect one, I had a speaker replaced on warranty. Electric boot yes, but for £560? Ouch! /Superbjoser

Hi all! Well, to me it appears that the one doing the service is to blame here. They should take care of all cost that John was accounted for, definitely no less! In fact, they should pay him some extra for all the time he lost and the inconvenience due to their falure on the service. /Superbjoser

Hi! Totally agree with you here! Your money, your decision! In my case it was offered in a business package together with, some other things, the xenon lights which I was really looking for. Do I use PA? Not really, this is a show off thing to be used with one eye in the mirror sitting on the passenger door. Last time I used it parked perfectly, the time before that I had to abort because of the kerb. Good luck with your new car! /Superbjoser

Well, my guess is that it's more money in the oil-filters business than it is to fix sound problems. One tech doing, lets say, 5 cars for oil or maybe 1 car for the sound problem? Not so hard for the workshop owner to prioritize between these tasks. I'm not saying that this is the way it should be, but I guess that's the world we live in. /Superbjoser

Hi Repman and welcome to the forum! The answer of your questions is: It all depends on your own priorities! If Skoda Superb is the the only fabric and model then you´re stuck with the choices above. If you go for the Passat for an example, you may have it both ways... But now we all know on this forum that Skoda is the way to go and then you have to answer: How often do you really NEED the 4x4? How often do you really NEED the 170 BHP? As for me that was simple... Colors are a tough one! Maybe a bluish type this once? The rest of the list (do you really NEED the paddles?) is OK by me but I'm not the one that gonna spend 50-60 kkm in it every year. You are.. Good luck! /Superbjoser
