Disconnecting battery while on holiday
Thanks for all responses. I checked that my key could unlock the door after disconnecting negative before closing the bonnet, so all should be fine. Just need to google how to reconnect for when I get back now. 😅😊

Disconnecting battery while on holiday
I am going away on holiday for three weeks on Monday and in the past when I’ve gone away for this length of time, I’ve come home to a flat battery. This time it’s going to be parked in an underground car park which will be difficult to get another car into to jumpstart it if it doesn’t start when I get back, so I was thinking about disconnecting the battery. Is this easy to do, and would it cause me any problems when I reconnect it in three weeks time? My mechanic has said it will probably be okay after three weeks, but it definitely hasn’t in the past, and I have no idea why it was to lose the battery so quickly as I’ve got a new one not so long ago. Therefore. I’d rather just be safe than sorry and disconnect it, if it won’t cause any problems. Many thanks in advance, I have a Skoda Fabia II 1.4 TDi 2008

A few coins just dropped down my windscreen demister vents!
I had a house key fall down my windscreen vent. I've tried dangling a magnet down there, but no luck so far. Will it cause problems for the car, or will it be ok down there?

Spoke too soon. I’ve broken down with white smoke halfway home.

I don’t know… White smoke, no. Oil, I’m not sure. I haven’t been driving it until today, so I haven’t checked.

Skoda Fabia 1.4TDI 2007 Turbo problems - loss of power and high pitched whine
I have a Skoda Fabia 2007 1.4TDI and 2 weeks ago I was travelling home and suddenly it started whining and lost power. The garage thought it was a timing belt problem, as one of the bolts on it had broken, so they fixed that but then found out that when driven, the problem was still there. They are now telling me it’s the turbo and have given me back the car until they can get the part. I live 700m above sea level in Tenerife and I work at sea level on the coast. They say that even without power, it should be ok to drive down to work and home, as long as I take my time, and that I don’t overdo it, and that the noise is just noise and won’t damage the car, but I’m unsure what to do. Is it ok to drive on, or should I leave it parked up? It’s just that where I live is in the middle of nowhere with no bus service and it’s difficult going this long without a car. I’m having to rely on the goodwill of neighbours. Help please!
