  1. I don't like the Meteor Grey do that's off the list. The red is nice but i have memories of the pigmentation fading. Owned a white Peugeot years ago and a nightmare to keep clean. Ran a pearlescent black MG ZT that looked great but was also hellish to keep clean - looked fantastic when it was clean. Like the Moon White contrasting with the black pack and the wheels. Just need to convince the Mrs!
  2. I stumbled on it trying to answer my own question and found it doing a Google search on Octavia vrs 230 options. Need to make my mind up soon whether or not I am going to order. Bit disappointed there are only 4 colours to choose from... Moon White looks favourite at the moment!
  3. Think I have answered my own query... For anyone else who is interested: http://www.skoda.co.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/Brochures/skoda-octavia-vrs-230.pdf
  4. Does anyone know if you can spec. one of these with additional options (i.e. sunroof, heated rear seats, mirrorlink etc.)? Many of the brokers appear to be suggesting you can but there is nothing (yet) on the Skoda website. I am thinking if it is an (allegedly) limited run of 500 units there won't be scope to specify any variation over a standard build. When it was on the UK configurator a few weeks ago I am sure that you couldn't specify a sunroof nor heated rear seats. I was about to place an order for a vRS but as the 230 includes many of the options I would otherwise be paying for it makes sense to go for one of these. I don't want to place an order with a broker to be later told that the additional options that I thought I had ordered can't actually be delivered. Anyone with inside knowledge?
  5. I wondered about that - if / when it ever stops raining today - I'll have a look. Thanks for the tip about the silicon spray.
  6. Was sat in the car last night waiting for my daughter who was swimming. I had the front driver window fully down. Went to collect my daughter and jumped out the car thinking that I could use the key fob (holding down the 'lock' key) to close the open window. Only thing was the window lifted half way up, stopped then retracted again. I tried this method a couple more times before giving up unlocking the car, putting the key in the ignition and lifting the window using the 'normal' window switch on the drivers door - even then it lifted half way before stopping(?) but eventually I got it closed by using the window switch. Any ideas what could be wrong? I will get it checked it out when it is next in for a service before the warranty runs out in January. The car is a 2011 petrol vRS hatch.
  7. I don't abuse my car and based on earlier posts I have done well to get 19K miles out of them. I don't know what the roads are like in Oz but I can only assume you don't have many bends and you must be doing most of your driving on motorways... Here in beautiful Scotland we have some of the best and twistiest roads known to man and I am assuming some of the most abrasive road surfaces known to man! Maybe we should have a new thread to see who has got the most mileage out of their original tyres...
  8. It's going to be a toss up between the Goodyear F1 and the Conti Sport Contact 5. Halfords Autocentres are doing Goodyears for £126.02 fitted as opposed to BlackCircles £190.92! The Conti Sport Contact 5 are £126.68 at Halfords whereas BlackCircles are £121.33. Not sure why there is such a price disparity for the Goodyears! I could buy the tyres from Camskill but then I need to find someone to fit them which is not always easy. Decisions, decisions!
  9. Having double-checked it looks like the Goodyears offer better wet weather grip than the Continentals (Wet Grip A as opposed to Wet Grip B for either Conti 2 or Conti 5). The difference in price is negligible. Looks like I may need to expand my choice...
  10. After nearly 19K it looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and splash out on some new front tyres for my petrol vRS. It's currently got Continental Conti Sport Contact 2 and I have been more than happy with their grip and longevity. However I see there are also Conti Sport Contact 5 that are allegedly slightly better in the fuel efficiency stakes whilst still offering the same wet weather grip as the Contact 2. Does anyone have any experience of the Conti Sport Contact 5 and how they compare to the Conti Sport Contact 2? The Conti Sport Contact 5 appear to be slightly cheaper (in the case of Camskill £9 cheaper than the equivalent Contact 2). Cheers.
  11. I bought my VRS through www.carfile.net who are a competitor to DriveTheDeal. I tried to get local dealers to price match but they either were not interested or gave the same line as you've been getting. At the end of the day I saved more than a £1000 against the best deal i could achieve from a Scottish dealer granted I didn't have a part exchange.
  12. They are a broker who will introduce you to a dealer who will match that price. After the introduction all your dealings will be with the dealer themselves .The dealer of course could be anywhere in the country...
  13. It's a petrol VRS. I went to work so didn't get the benefit of sitting in a nice leather chair and having a nice young lady serving me a latte. :-(
