  1. Hi, Can anyone help me with part numbers for rear disks and pads for the vRS? I've dug around the internet and think I've found the rear pad part number to be: 1J0615601 (these: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=96) but unsure about the rear pads (I think they're these: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=360). Can anyone confirm or provide item numbers for parts they've used from EuroCarParts? Much Appreciated. Thanks, Sion
  2. Thanks for the help and advice guys. I've dived in and bought the set. I've wasted £16 on worse things before! Shiny tools in cases are always good!
  3. Hi All, Looking at changign disks and pads all round on my vRS, can anyone adivse if the following caliper rewind tool is suitable for the vRS: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAKE-CALIPER-PISTON-REWIND-WIND-BACK-TOOL-KIT-22-34-PIECES-Car-Service-Tool-/150935033415?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item23246dd647 Thanks in advance.
  4. Tracking temporarily solves the problem (for a week or so) then the problem comes back. mikejay - is it the pulling problem or the ridiculous tyre wear problem you're having?
  5. Hi all, I'm after a bit of advice. I've noticed my Fabia vRS pull to the left since about August/September last year and tried a number of things to fix it but it has resulted in me taking it to Skoda to try and diagnose today. Since I've noticed the pull to the left, I've had the console bushes changed (went for the uprated ones) with no effect, changed two front tyres due to wear and had it tracked multiple times which solves the problem for a very short while and it then starts pulling again. I noticed last weekend that the two new tyres (Avon's that cost me nearly £200 in National) have worn excessively on the inside since August, which prompted me to book in with the dealer. The dealer pointed out I needed to change the console bushes to the standard ones and change the anti roll bar bushes. Has anyone had any problems with the uprated console bushes causing tracking issues or pulling to one side? I can't see how this could be a cause? Thanks in advance.
  6. Never heard it before, which I thought was worrying.
  7. Hi guys, I wonder of someone could help me. Noticed yesterday when turning the engine off on my vRS that I could hear a noise from the engine bay like something spinning down after the engine was turned off. The noise was apparent for about 3 seconds after turning the engine off and was consistent when I fired up and turned off again. There's also what sounds like some rubbing of a belt or something. The cambelt was done 12 months ago according to the paperwork supplied with the car as I've only had it 8 months, so I'm pretty sure that is not the issue. Can anyone share any ideas they might have? Cheers.
  8. Hi, The other day I found that my rear passenger footwell was soaking wet. Touching the mat or the carpet showed it was soaking wet. I've spent the last hour with an old towel trying to dry the carpet with an old towel, and rubbing it hard into the carpet to pull in any moisture. The liquid coming out of the carpet is most definitely windscreen wash (bright green colour screenwash from Halfords!). The carpet is a little drier , but still with pressure liquid is coming out of the carpet. Currently have the mat over the radiator in the lounge drying and dripping screen wash onto a towel underneath. Can anyone suggest the best way to dry the carpet? Cheers,
  9. Just called Furrow's Skoda in Oswestry and ordered the official part - quoted £2.50 + vat on the phone. Not a bad price for the part, and it will be available to pick up on Wednesday. The ebay seller has agreed to take part I bought off them, that was obviously incorrect fitting. Thanks for your help guys.
  10. Thanks for the info. I have contacted the seller asking for a refund as the item is not suitable for it's advertised purpose. Can anyone confirm that this item here is the same that Skoda offer? Thanks.
  11. I sort of found that this morning, when googling how on earth to fit this in! Now I've paid for this fascia, I wouldn't mind getting it fitted rather than spend £4 again! :'( The plastic on the fascia I received actually is pretty similar to rest of the dash.
  12. Morning all! Finally got round to ordering the kit I need to intall my old Alpine 9871 head unit into the vRS. Fascia adapter arrived this morning, but I can't figure out how on earth to get it in. I removed the Symphony head unit with no issues and then the two little side spacers either side of the symphony and then I was left with a plastic frame kind of thing screwed in by Torx. Do I need to remove this to fit the fascia adapter listed below? This is the item I have bought: here If anyone has used anything like this, I would appreciate any advice. Cheers.
  13. Thanks for the info guys. I'm not sure if I can hear it tonight after driving home from work as the engine noise is louder than it. It might now be me being uber paranoid. Does anyone know how much a new/recon turbo will cost if it turns out to be the turbo? Also what the average labour cost is for this job?
  14. Could it be that I left it idle too long? I'm getting really paranoid about this turbo now. Last thing I want is to buy a new turbo 3 months after buying the car!
  15. Went out to start the car as normal this morning and let it run for a good 15 minutes before attempting to drive it (it was -5 outside and I am a believer of letting the oil/engine warm up). When I started driving down the snowy road at about 10-15mph I could hear a little whine from the turbo when revved. It sounded a little like posts from other people about a very faint siren sound. I am worried this might be the turbo on the way out, or could it be the cold affecting the turbo as it has frozen hard for the last few days? Any advice/tips appreciated
