How do I check which engine my car has? Is it possibly to decipher from the engine number?
-
Well indeed, cheers!
-
Why does no one tell you these things!?
-
How do you go about claiming for that, then?
-
I got a letter on Monday from them saying I'm owed £400, didn't even have to ask them to check - so assuming the cheque turns up I'm very happy

Thanks guys, one of those should see me right!

Something's fallen off the underside of my Fabia!
f1_mw replied to peagreenblade's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Drill a couple of holes in it and tie wrap it back on? Has worked for all the various bits of plastic that have fallen off my Octy (262k miles and counting!) over the past couple of years. -
Can't find the locking wheel nut key for alloys, can't take to dealer as car is, ahem, incapacitated. Any ideas? Basically looks a bit like a big star/torx bit. Thanks in advance

Hmm think I may have bitten off more than I can stomach with this one so have decided to break for spares to keep my estate on the road (front end damage). See my other thread if you have any ideas which Elegance parts I can use to upgrade the Classic. mbames - thanks for your input

Possible a simple question... I have a spares car (hatchback) in Elegance trim to use to put right the front end damage to my estate which has Classic trim, and wonder what, if anything, I can use to upgrade the estate? (It is worth bearing in mind that the electrics in the estate are currently dodgy at best - central locking doesn't work properly, and if I leave the fuse in for the rear wiper it means the fronts won't stop...! Also on my list of things to do, lol) Cheers, Chris

Low mileage really, my current hack has 262k Fairly sure it is the water pump as the temp gauge got over 100 but rad was stone cold. Fingers crossed the 20 mile trip home didn't do any damage :S Don't think I'll be able to do it myself as I haven't got the time or confidence (more used to working on an A+ series from 1980s Austin Rovers!) so will try and get it to a garage tomorrow. It's also got a fairly hefty blow from the front-ish section of the exhaust - any ideas how much that will cost to put right? Cheers, Chris

I got tyres through black circles a couple of weeks ago, a brilliant service and about £20 cheaper than anywhere else

How To: Octavia 1 - Replacing Door Latch Microswitch
f1_mw replied to Bowders1's topic in Skoda Octavia Guides
Thanks man, so much better than the Haynes! -
Thanks for the response. Car's done 230k with not much history so was thinking of a cambelt change anyway, I was reading about some other water pump issues earlier so could be the way forward. How easy is it to DIY?

Just bought another Octy, picking it up tomorrow, so will post some pics then. It's an 03 1.9TDi Elegance. On the test drive everything was working apart from the heater - fans and climatic control etc. work, but only cold air was blowing. Temp gauge climbed at a reasonable rate (similar to my SDi) but settled at about 3/4 rather than 1/2. Any ideas? Any help in getting to the bottom of this will be much appreciated Cheers, Chris

Haha fair enough! Good luck with the sale

Wish this thread was around 12 months ago when mine melted! Still, local autoelectrician sorted it for £50 so wasn't too bad.
