  1. Gizmo68 changed my maxidot over to the big MPH display just a week ago and I'm really grateful. I find it very much easier to use. I really can't see why dealers arent allowed to do this - but then I can't see why it's not specified as a standard by SUK. As others have said, you can very easily change the display back if you want to or need to. But then, I also don't understand why the speedo is in MPH only. Can't remember any other make of car I've had where this is the case.
  2. Bolero's working all right and I know it's never shown a clock - just a big blob of nothing in the middle of the dash if you don't switch it on.
  3. Hi all, I was browsing the internet looking for nothing in particular and came across a reference to this system, which is apparently approved by VAG Group for installation across their range of vehicles, including SMs. Has anyone out there had it fitted or indeed know anything about it, as I'm getting a bit tired of my blank Bolero screen just sitting there doing nothing, even refusing to tell me the time of day? Any views welcomed. Brimstone
  4. I replaced my original Pacific Blue SM with a FL Elegance in Cappuccino Beige with Gobi Sand leather, and with the no cost black alloys option ( can't remember now what there're called.) Allams' said it would look good and it really does. Its a great combination - and doesn't show the dirt either!! (well, not so much.)
  5. We went for the 2ltr with DSG since swmbo insists on auto and I felt notwithstanding the reviews, the 1.2 was simply not quite engine enough for the Yeti. We only do approx 8-9 k per year & if I'd had the choice I'd have gone for the cheaper option of say the 1.8 or 1.6 petrol dsg, sadly unavailable. Journeys mainly are 30 miles each way with town driving one end country lanes t'other and a big chunk of M25/M23 in the middle, so no dpf problems anticipated. But engine now loosening nicely, smmoth and more than powerful enough for me, so no actual regrets.
  6. Back to the original question - In retrospect I'd not have chosen Pacific Blue, not because it doesn't look great - it does - but it shows the dirt, and in my experience the SM is a mud magnet, par excellence. Go for a silver, that is until Skoda decide to do a tartan!
  7. I found James at Allams very helpful, gave me a realistic price on the Civic, didn't try to talk me into extras I didn't want or need but did take me to the ones I did need, particularly the lumbar support, which no-one should be without.
  8. Jeeves has a heated screen and tho don't need to use it very often, there's nothing to beat it when you do. Never had a problem with the filaments whatever the light conditions.
  9. Don't hate anything much about Jeeves, save for withdrawl of sunroof option when I ordered and its re-instatement just before delivery. BUT the exterior mirror controls are rubbish - why didn't Skoda look at e.g. the simple way Honda or Toyota does it? The handbrake's position's awkward, if like me you're a bit on the short side & need the seat a bit nearer the steering wheel than some. AND why on earth should I have to find someone with a VCDS or whatever to achieve the simple task of getting the MFD to display MPH? BUT most of all, why does the tailgate get filthy even when you drive around on a dry day? Still expecting to change in due course for another, as I love it & there's nothing else on the market I like half as much!
  10. This looks pretty neat. Her indoors very keen on garden, hence on picking up horsepoo from any stables we pass! Any advice as to where to source in U.K. much appreciated!
  11. I think it looks great. I'm in the same position - I was not best pleased to see the removal of the sunroof option.
  12. I found that in the snow earlier this year the Dunlops were truly disgraceful when it came to braking - seemed to have no adhesion at all. The summer Michelins I had on our old Civic were far superior. No problem with grip, however, I suspect the haldex doing its stuff, so I just used the gears through the DSG and left the brakes alone as much as possible. Like most other contributors, I'm sure that 2 sets of tyres is the ideal, but again like others I simply haven't the space, so will have to go to a 4 seasons tyre. The Goodyears sound good, tho I've had Khumo in the past and found them excellent. Shall be looking out for them when they become available too.
  13. My SE Yeti has the Plummer's middle combination, the standard auto dimming mirror and I can't say I've experienced any difficulty with this at all. But I did nearly miss [ more truthfully nearly hit ] a cyclist who appeared from behind the near side A pillar. But in any event, he's better than the Civic I traded in. That had no visibility in any direction at all - even straight ahead was a bit dodgy!
  14. Although the grid is visible, its usually only when sun is at an acute angle. Never noticed it at night. Never found it a distraction, but best advice is to test drive a vehicle with one - but only on a sunny day!
