  1. Me too. Never met anyone on this forum.
  2. Nothing wrong with Renault at all. I can remember the Renault 5 GT Turbo. That was really juicy. Years ago Citroen must have become the home of many ex Peugeot people and for good reason.
  3. It definitely reminds me of when Peugeot decided to kill off its good looking high performance cars though with Peugeot that was an own goal with VAG its what I claim above.
  4. In fact they can't bring out a decent 2 L diesel engine Fabia because that's in the Audi A1 with 170 bhp and it costs a lot more and while there are suckers willing to pay large sums of money for the luxury brand why put the same engine in the so-called cheap brand? It's so corporate communications multi national human resources bull.
  5. I spent many years with Peugeot 306 gti/rallyes so it was with trepidation that many years ago I made the move to the Mark 1 VRS. It took a while to get it right and indeed now it is with its brand new out of box PD150 Garrett turbo and Geartech gearbox upgrade plus a sensible torque biased remap that why in God’s name would I want a bloody Mark 3 without a decent diesel engine? They didn’t get it right with the Mark two which in my opinion is too tall and thin in shape let alone the fact that I would have had to switch from diesel back to a petrol 1.4 TSI to get more speed and now the Mark 3 is supposed to live with same old Micky Mouse engines. I might have to switch Marques again.
  6. Mine was always a bit wild before the PD150 was installed and the Geartech larger better bearings were installed in the gearbox too. Makes it more resistant to bullitts as it were and now its absolutely brilliant accelerating and very, very smooth too. Costs money though but well worth it.
  7. Haven’t posted for a long while but think I can add to this via some experience. I am finally enjoying the car and done things which should have been sorted at the start when I mapped it 182 bhp five years ago. It really accelerates incredibly well and much more smoothly now. This year I went for a brand new out-of-the-box Garrett PD150 Turbo and new bigger better bearings and new seals for the replacement gearbox via Geartech in Worcester whose claim to fame is “we haven’t had one back yet”. Clutch and dual mass have both been done too as has the EGR and all remapped to a very sensible torque emphasised 185 horses. I just love it now. IMO not worth mapping high unless spending on better turbo and gearbox. Only then will it really accelerate hard in smooth way.
  8. Haven't been on here a while. Must get out to a meet. I bought the car about five years ago then remmaped it to 182 bhp and eventually I had problems and things started to "go". Regularly, like the EGR, one off like the dual mass/clutch was replaced at about 100k and eventually the gearbox. So very recently year went for brand new out of box 150pd Garrett Turbo, blanked the bloody EGR, and Geartech put new "bigger better" bearings and seals in the gearbox. Then a remap to a very respectable 185 bhp and now the Fabia is very sweet again. A different altogther smoother drive. Remap guy said its perfect don't touch a thing or something like that. Currently on 120k.
  9. I am looking for a used part please. A bottom pipe elbow section which sits right next to standard intercooler. New price @ £90.00 seems a bit steep for a this small part. Wondering if anyone braking a VRS or has this particular part. This problem/failure follows the installation of a GT1749V. It seems anything a bit week can and will be found out after an upgrade.
  10. After recent new cam belt and pump 119k following replacement of dual mass flywheel, clutch and gearbox overhaul just over a year ago I have finally changed the PD130 to a PD150. Cost a fair chunk of money. Have to admit I have not done any of the work myself. I had the PD 130 mapped to 182 bhp when I bought the car a few years ago so you can perhaps guess why the money had to be spent later. Bearings were going in Turbo so I thought catch it before anything happens. Car is so sweet now its brilliant. Well have to get it remapped soon but still drives beautifully now with the uprated new turbo. So nice I simply can't believe it. Really happy all that work is over and the car is good for many more miles. Haven't been on this site for years. Head down really just getting on with it. But I can now vouch for these PD150s in the Fabia especially after a 183 bhp on an original PD130. End of bull****. Must also say constantly replacing the EGR (think that's the bloody name) has been a real pain over the year - the buggers. Very recently have 'trimmed' some of the pipe associated with that part of the exhaust system.
  11. Well you could always buy a cheap second had Mark 1 Fabia VRS or any of the 1.9TD for that matter. I always have well over 50 mpg on the trip meter but also have a lot of fun in the car. Well I ask you this - why have an over mapped then? I always drive hugely faster when I overtake. I claim it’s safer. In the main I drive between 50 mph and 60 mph round here when I can and the MPG remains high. The only way to drive the MPG below 50 is to drive like a nutter. The roads are way better round here too and the Tarmac boys were out today as they normally are resurfacing the road plus we even have a Tarmac quarry not far away so no logisitic problems . We also have lower levels of traffic than in most other parts of the country I have been to. Even if I have to drive for 40 mph for any length of time the trip meter goes up and up and up. I have even had a claimed 600 miles in the tank (trip meter) remaining when I have driven to the coast from here when sometimes roads are very clear – even overtaking other cars at 50 mph in cruise control on the very, very long straights which makes us laugh. I don’t think you can go wrong at all with the dear little Mark 1 Fabia VRS. So economical and massive fun - even with a mere 182 bhp.
  12. Drove behind one a basic Range Rover Evoque recently and close to the rear view is… phew… dog ugly. Why do car makers forget the backside like they did with the new Scirocco? We backed off to have a long range look and both wife and I thought – no way – what with a back end like that. Quite sad really as we have a guy staying with us with a very nice ten year old ‘Disco’ or ‘Landi’ as he likes to call it and that is so design council award cool, though not sure if it every won any award on any design front. Sorry to be polemical but we both had an instant bad reaction to the rear end. Notice no pics here of backside.
  13. I have made my points perfectly clear. I started my working life in the greedy Thatcher era which then led to the Labour inspired “Nanny State” so now we have spy cameras, masses of red tape and QUANGOs - those that are there to provide exchequer money – yet have the right to impose heavy fines without being part of proper government. All this leads to a gradual creep of inequalities which make it easy for some to pay fines but which are punitive to others. Yes I love a red blooded debate and it might appear I wanted to wind a few of you up for being head in the sand, sort of “yes men” that would (it seems to me) follow, without any criticism, government policy in this area. But I have done my jury service, do whole heartedly agree with the criminal justice system (even though I often don’t agree with it) have successfully brought up four children and ALL have completed degrees. Yes I do drive swiftly (sometimes) but my Fabia does show an average of 52 mpg on the trip meter so I do not race about like my life depends on it. Sadly I suppose you lot are the product of the greedy Thatacher era and the controlling Nanny State. What a comforting prospect.
  14. You are suggesting I am some sort of Nihilist when I am not and readily understand "fine, jail term, loss of licence/freedoms or what ever is to punish!!!!" < that point. Just to clear up AGAIN fines should be means tested. What point is there giving somebody earning £200,000 a year a £100.00 fine and a hard pressed person who earns £100.00 in two days the same fine. Do you not understand?
