  1. Hi a final update I bought a 5 door mini cooper sd today got a great deal I'm absolutely chuffed and delighted. My time with the Yeti will not be fondly remembered the Skoda dealer even less so. I don't think I'll be in a Skoda again but you never know. At least having the deal on the yeti down on paper allowed me get a really low rate on the pcp and a great part ex.
  2. I was told they did not clip off and were part of the cluster 2 skoda garages told me that.
  3. Hi a replacement clock cluster could be had off e bay for around £100 but there was no way I was prepared to have the dash out I feel that would lead to greater problems and may have invalidated the warranty in that area of the car. I'm still awaiting £54 back from Lookers (which is taking too long!) but all other monies have been returned. Skoda customer services were helpful, Lookers customer service never phoned me back! It's been a throughly disappointing time and I have learned a few lessons. The only positive was the 4x4 on the yeti I loved the grip which has led me towards discussions on a 120d x drive at a Bmw dealership that I will view (very closely!) this weekend and hopefully purchase. Thanks for all the kind responses we will not all agree on everything but I have valued the feedback.
  4. I would advise any potential purchasers of this vehicle from Lookers Skoda Newcastle to read my previous posts on this vehicle before agreeing to purchase. There is significant damage around the rev counter which rattles constantly. This is a £900 part and the dash will need to be out. Also one of the side windows has a huge amount of circular scratches on. I would have reluctantly accepted this as wear and tear you may not.
  5. Yes I should have spotted it but the morning after collection I e mailed pictures to the dealer. With the deal I maintain the knew about the damage and wanted rid. It is not a part the could get broken just like that I think the dash has been out. And when a local skoda dealer says it's not acceptable and disgraceful and I should reject the car if it's not fixed I was never going to accept it. This will be my last comment time to move on. Thank you
  6. They have told me they will just put it straight back on. I cannot believe it. I'm 100% certain most people on here would not have accepted it. However Lookers thought they were doing me a favour rewinding the deal! £200 down + 3 Saturdays wasted and an incredible amount of stress and they admitted they would sell it again as an approved used car. I'm appalled.
  7. Well I've got my Passat back and it would have been nice to get a sorry or similar out of Lookers Newcastle but none was forth coming it was a very strained atmosphere. I maintain they knew about the damage and tried to pass the car on knowing it was not really acceptable on a franchise approved used car. (Confirmed by another Skoda garage) I would advise everyone on here to stay well clear of them. As for skoda customer services, skoda finance and Lookers customer service all promised to phone me back within 3 days. How many calls have I had? Yes none. Very poor customer service and unacceptable. The whole business has left a very sour taste. I'm an honest guy and expect the same. I'll be looking elsewhere in future. Thanks for all the support.
  8. Horton skoda think the dash has been out. There is a fault recorded regarding the fuel gauge but it is inconclusive. Hortons warranty manager said if there was proof that part of the dash had been out he would do a warranty claim but unfortunately the proof is not there. I think the dash has suffered trauma at some point.
  9. It's not cosmetic it's broken trim in 2 places on the main dash (rev counter) that not only looks awful it rattles. 2 local franchised dealers including skoda have described it as damage unacceptable in a franchised used car. They have also said it may not be worth the guaranteed value on the pcp as it is damage not wear and tear. I feel I am taking the only route possible but remain very unhappy with my he selling dealer.
  10. If I can put it this way. If you go to a new restaurant and have a bad meal the next time you go out you go somewhere tried and tested. For me that is probably a 1 series Bmw or some sort of mini. I don't think my other half would sanction another skoda after the stress I've had this week. I really like the yeti only downside is the closeness of the hand brake to the arm rest which is annoying in stop start traffic. I'm getting my Passat serviced next week so will keep it a bit. Again VW were horrified when I showed them the car.
  11. I'd like to add to this mate but best to keep myself in check for a while I think.
  12. That's correct and it was offered but they admitted they had no other black editions or suitable cars so this was never an option on either side.
  13. You can all read my previous post on the trim issue so I think I can tell you a bit more. From that you can see that the chrome trim around the rev counter is broken in 2 places and rattles badly the car was supplied by Lookers like this. They have flatly refused to remidy the situation claiming it is usual wear and tear on a used car. That is unacceptable to me and after speaking to skoda customer service I contacted the md at Lookers and the only way forward was to rewind the deal so I return on Saturday with the car and collect my old Passat. I'll wait until all monies have been received before mentioning my true feelings on the matter. However I will be around £200 down over this (fuel tax lost insurance change costs. It comes down to Lookers interpretation of how a used car should be presented and mine. Mine is backed up by 20 friends and colleagues and Horton Skoda Lincoln. It has been a stressful week which is not something I deal well with. I'd be glad when Saturday is over it has all been a bit of an eye opener.
  14. In a very unfortunate and regrettable situation from my behalf my yeti black edition will be delivered back to the selling dealer on Saturday. I don't feel I can say to much at this time until all monies have been returned (I will still be a couple of £100 down) other than I am extremely disappointed that a skoda dealer does not have the same standards that I would expect a 2 year old 20,000 mile car to be prepared to. It has tarnished my and family/colleagues opinion of the brand and I will probably end up going back to Bmw. I will post again when the matter has been closed. I would like to thank Hortons in Lincoln they WERE NOT THE SELLING DEALER but offered good honest advice and spent time with no financial gain to themselves. michael
  15. Thanks I'm not happy as it is I cannot believe I did not see it on the test drive but I've moved the steering wheel a bit today so maybe that was it. I'll get in touch with the dealer tomorrow it's a main skoda agent and see what they say.
