  1. " Ive a TT oval one if your interested in it?" Is the TT one a direct fit and would it be possible to post up a picture and the dimensions? Thanx
  2. Thanks for the replies, the interior mirror in our Fabia is grey and I believe the swop to black, is a common mod that is carried out. I just wanted to make sure, I purchased one that fits the excisting mounting plate.
  3. I'm looking at fitting a black interior mirror to my facelift Fabia, I've had a quick search for a relevant topic but struggling to find one. Hoping someone can help me with a list of direct swops ;-)
  4. Thought I would update this for anybody requiring this information in the future. The best way I found to eliminate the EGR valve was to block it off, I did this by removing and re-fitting it backwards, in turn blocking off the port in the cylinder head. I then carried out another compression test and found that it had improved slightly, but was still down by approx 3 bar. Next job was to remove the cylinder head and take it for testing (Cranmore Engineering, Birmingham), after leaving it for a few hours it was ready to collect. It required new exhaust valves on cylinder four and the head skimming (£70). Cylinder head has now been re-fitted along with a new gasket set, cambelt kit, water pump, throttle body cleaned, fault lights re-set and a full service undertaken, we are back to running as it should do, with no thanks to the ****** who sold it to me.
  5. Have'nt managed to get the EGR off yet, what with all this rain. Can anybody advise/explain why the car stops misfiring for a few minutes when the fault/fault light is erased?
  6. I would recommend checking the coolant temp sensor is the upto date version, i.e the green one. Have had the exact same fault as described in the past on my MK6 Polo, MK5 Polo and my Lupo all had 1.4 engines
  7. "Check the EGR, this is fed off cylinder 4. If its stuck open, would drop compression." Thanks for the info, I will make sure the EGR valve is checked prior to removing the cylinder head. Would this explain why it only misses once its warmed up? As for the fuel situation, the wife has'nt really had chance to drive it yet and I have no idea what the previous owner has been using. But after reading through several different posts, we will be using 98 fuel going forward.
  8. Carried out a compression test this evening and found cylinder four was at 11bar and the others were 15bar approx. Cylinder head will be coming off tomorrow, to assess whats causing the lower reading :(
  9. Hi all, Last weekend I purchased the good lady a 55 plate Fabia 1.4 16v 44,000 miles. Its seems the seller forgot to mention that once the car warms up, the engine light flashes and the car starts to mis-fire. Not only did he forget to mention this he also didnt mention that this has been going on for sometime, as I found out from researching this forum for an easy fix and I came across his posts. Getting back to the fault, I have plugged in the diagnostic machine and found 1 fault (16688 Misfire detected cylinder 4). I have tried the following and failed to move the fault; Swopped spark plugs 1 to 4 Swopped coil packs 1 to 4 Swopped injectors 1 to 4 Swopped injector wiring 3 to 4 Is there anything else easy I can try? I will be having a compression carried out in a couple of days, but I'm hoping for an easier fix (not holding my breath). Thanks in advance
  10. Hi all, Just a quick question, when removing the air filter housing on a Fabia 1.4 16v, how many breather pipes should be connected to the housing?? I only have one and want to check this is correct
  11. It sounds like I either need to get it re-mapped to remove the pump fully or leave it as it is. Think I will leave it as it is :-) The kit was less than £30 delivered and I had no tax to pay, I believe it was marked as a "letter" so that might be the reason for not paying tax. Excellent bit of kit to have, as it saved alot of time and money :-)
  12. Hi all, After carrying out the removal of my Secondary Air Injection Pump, bypassing of the N112 and N249 valves and the fitting of a Oil Catch Can the engine mangement light came on and the following fault code was registered 17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!) :( I decided to purchase the following http://www.turboboostleaktesters.com/servlet/the-120/INTAKE-PIPE-KIT--dsh-/Detail which I must say, was delivered within 4-5 days with tracking from the USA . The tester arrived and after connecting it all up I started spraying soapy water around all the breather pipes, vac lines, turbo pipes etc, once the test is started any air leaking from the system will create bubbles from the efected areas. Apart from a few clips that needed tightening on my vac lines the main leak was coming from the suction jet pump 058133753B located underneath the Intake manifold, I purchased a replacement part for around £30 fom TPS and since fitting I have noticed an improvement in boosting, MPG and the overall feel of the car. The one thing left for me to rectify is, on start up the engine ticks over at 1200rpm for approx 90 secs and then drops down to normal revs. I know this is common on these models but I was hoping after the removal of the Secondary Air Pump this would have stopped. Any ideas?
  13. Not a job for the faint hearted, I had one downpipe bolt snap and one of the threads in the turbo is f**ked. But must keep smiling :S
  14. Thanks for the info mate, I've had a look already but can't find anything local, Im hoping somebody may have a spare one somewhere nearby
  15. I know its not listed but do you have the exhaust manifold, if so part No. and price please
  16. Hi All, My exhaust has been blowing since it had the mis-fortune of my wifes driving After a visit to Halfrauds Autocentre and a quote of £170 to remove and inspect the exhaust manifold, I decided to remove it myself and upon inspection found a hairline crack in one of the ports. My question is does anybody have one lying around that they don't need? I know this is'nt the wanted section but Im kind of in a rush to get this done Engine No. AUQ Part No. 06A 253 033 AB. Please Help Me
