  1. I've decided to trade in my solidly reliable and lovely fabia vrs for a mint mk5 vw r32,too good to miss out on..so I'd like to say a big thankyou to Briskoda for having such an informative, very helpful and comprehensive website, that has helped me out many a time, and a big thankyou to all it's Members who, without their knowledge and experience it would not be possible. Many thanks, Mickvrs1
  2. Thanks for all your feedback guys,I'm guna shop around for a boxster s in the next few months,as it will out perform the slk, as it's mainly about the handling for me,as the slk is prob front heavy..off to the nurburgring again in june so should be fun in the porsche,
  3. lol..like your answer and choice of words, very funny but true ha ha.my heart says porsche but my wallet cries out slk..already ditched rally jacket. Thanks for your thoughts on that.
  4. ..also been looking at boxster but i've read too many issues regarding ims bearing failure or rms seal??
  5. lol..i am a man,44 years old and live in preston lancashire..but still got my own hair thankfully. i have heard that these are seen as a womens car,but at 3.5 litres and 272bhp i would say maybe not this one..? like your point though lol.
  6. I've got some cash to spare and wondering if i should sell my vrs and buy an 07 merc slk 350..any thoughts?? not sure whether to keep vrs and upgrade suspension to bilstein b12 and other mods,or move on..??
  7. has anyone got pics on how to reconnect rod at rear of control assy back onto flaps??
  8. Went last year after remap, standard suspension and did 10 min lap..oh and then met sabine shmitz...result!!
  9. ok thanks for your prompt reply,i'll give that a go.
  10. managed to remove glove box and check out the motor and air recirculation flap,no obvious problems, but suspect faulty switch? can this be confirmed using VAGCOM,and if so,does anyone live near leyland in lancashire?? many thanks.
  11. I used to experience the pipe coming off in the bulkhead a lot, until i carried out the cage mod in miniature on the pipe, taking care to not crush the pipe that is..very awkward to do but worth persevering.
  12. Hi, it's just the air recirculation not working when stationary..not when reversing.did work but now only intermittantly??
  13. Hi mcc,i had exactly the same symptoms as you with my vrs,had the cables adjusted..better,but still a problem, then had new clutch, flywheel and release bearing fitted and was instantly better, although tbh,i can still feel a little bit of notchyness..but previously it was horrendous to get into 1st,2nd and reverse.hope this helps?? mick.
  14. Thanks for your reply, that's kinda what's happening with mine..where about's is the vacuum hose, and is it easily accessible??
  15. hi there, just wondered if anyone knows what the cause of my intermittent air recirculation is?? my air con needs regassing but i don't think this will affect this?? any help would be appreciated. thanks. mick.
  16. thanks very much for the info brads, have been struggling to find a supplier for a while.will give them a call.cheers.
  17. Hi there, anyone know where to get a couple of these,or are they discontinued..struggling to source some, not desperate but would like to get some in future?? many thanks.
  18. hi guys, think i've got to the bottom of the gear selection problem i've been having for some time now.had the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and release bearing replaced and the gears are pretty easy to select now,and power delivery is smoother.asked my mate who did the work, about the condition of the old clutch at 125k and he said it looked ok,and that he thinks it was more likely to be the dmf that was at fault..either way i'm glad it's got rid of the problem, having had the cables adjusted, and gearbox oil replaced in the past..fingers crossed no more problems.
  19. hi there,i've had exactly the same problem, tried changing gearbox oil and had cables adj on gearbox, was slightly better but still acting up,hoping to get my clutch/dmf and release bearing done soon..i suspect the release bearing myself.hoping to get a concrete answer from someone on here.
  20. Hi there,i had the same problem of headlamps misting up,so waited for drier weather, where by then they had cleared, then loosened the screws holding them in place, and apllied generous amounts of clear silicone all way round the light unit..has been perfect ever since.must have had a small hole in the seal where damp air was condensing on cold days..hope this helps.
  21. FIRSTLY I'D LIKE TO THANK BRISKODA FOR HELPING ME THROUGH YET ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH MY VRS,WHICH IS NOW SORTED THANKS TO THE GREAT FEEDBACK OF THE MEMBERS,AND I'D LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
  22. my cars done 124k,mostly motorway mileage, problem started about 3 months ago, just prior to doing the nurburgring..the poor selection problem almost drove me mad..aargh! a mechanic told me to try turning the engine off when having problems, and if it went into gear at that point, whereas previously it wouldn't,then it would be the clutch,i'm no mechanic..so trust his judgement..although i did think gear selector fork ?? anybody who's an expert,i would appreiciate your opinion.cheers.
