  1. I swear mine doesn't. There's a knack to it I've yet to learn
  2. The fuel cap. I don't object to the key but it's a bugger to open after you unlock it. I've not managed it once and have had to call on the other half...
  3. Soz, no review yet as I've just got out of hospital! But next Friday I'm having a bit of a blast round the M25 and will report back
  4. Couple of months ago I saw a red vRS at Gatwick, black roof and wheels and it looked AMAZING. You won't be sorry. And that was after a 3.5 mile round trip to the petrol station by the garage Cheers, I still can't believe it's mine.
  5. Not long in from Allam's having collected my Fabia from James earlier this afternoon. And I must say, the whole process from test drive to collection has been a pleasure. I dealt with Beth and James - mainly James - and they couldn't have been nicer or better, really helped me through the process as it's my first new car in 11 years and things have changed a little. I was kept up to date with build times and delivery dates, with lots of e-mails back and forth, especially following the delivery of the car to the UK. Yesterday James told me everything that I had to do to be able to collect the car, he met me at the station (no car to get to the garage!), cup of coffee and a tour of the car before and after all the paperwork. Most importantly, James hasn't treated me as just another customer - he's treated me like a human, very personable and likeable, and a good level of chatter when we were waiting for DVLA to do its stuff. There are actually two other dealers closer to me, but I went to Allam's by word-of-mouth recommendation, and I am wholeheartedly glad I did. Thanks guys!
  6. So. Not long in from the dealer and I am one happy boy. A big thank you to James at Allam's of Epsom - for treating me like a human, not just another customer. Some photos below - I'll do a quick review in a few days once I've driven him a bit. But the journey home (about 10 miles) was a pleasure. And it's so red and shiny! 7. Ordered 2 November 2010, was advised build week 11 (week of 14 March) in late January or early February, it arrived in the UK around 26-28 March and the dealer got it late on 1 April.
  8. Oh yeah MDI, that's what the other thing was. How could I forget that? LOL
  9. Elegance 105 DSG, in red. Not added loads - headlight washers, spare wheel, tyre pressure monitor... something else that I can't remember... But will get some pics up on Tuesday or Wednesday! God I'm like a child at Christmas
  10. Had an e-mail from the lovely James at Allam's of Epsom a few hours ago... My Furby showed up late Friday and I'm picking him up on Tuesday!! There may well be a few pics...
  11. Ordered an Elegance 105 DSG on 2 November, was given build week 11 (14 March) in January, had an e-mail on Thursday saying it had left the factory Should have it in 2-3 weeks.
  12. Email from dealer earlier on today... It's left the factory!! YAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!
  13. AAAARGH I really didn't want to read this. I ordered on 2 November and the build week is next week.... Gagging for it to arrive
  14. Git, I ordered my Elegance 105 DSG on 2 November and it's being built the week before yours!
  15. I ordered a DSG on 2 November and it will be built in w/c 14 March, so if you're being quoted 12 weeks then you're lucky...
  16. Had an e-mail from my dealer yesterday - confirmed build week 11 (14 March). I ordered on 2 November - so 5 months, as warned. And apparently it's only getting worse, especially for the Yeti after last Sunday's TopGear...
  17. What spec? I ordered a 1.2 DSG Elegance on 2 November; the dealer e-mailed me just after New Year to say they were still planning a March delivery.
  18. Never trust the brochure. I've not seen auto lights as either standard or optional kit in the brochure or on the configurator but I've read here that it's standard on the Elegance.
  19. I agree with helix's views of What Car - they've got a real badge snobbery going on, and it's completely unjustified. Whilst I've not actively looked for it in other marques, I bet you can find the same with the Ford Fiesta/Mazda 2 and the various collaborations between NIssan and Renault, and Peugeot and Citroën.
  20. Octy vRS from late 2009 to present... But they're not reducing the RRP. It's just a time-limited discount on the list price; the small print will state that the RRP is still £X.
  21. Ahh the stupidity of the year identifier on GB number plates. Don't see such shenanigans elsewhere in Europe.
  22. I contacted Skoda customer services about the Sport twice, back in June after seeing it in Prague and again after it showed up on the microsite. In June they said they had no plans to market the car in the UK! In October they said it would be marketed "in 2011" but gave no date. Assuming the spec is similar to the German and Czech cars it's a 1.2 DSG and that would explain the delay.
  23. Well I'm still unsure but at least I don't have to make a decision just yet. However, it will depend partly on whether the car is set to variable or fixed servicing. It should be variable but my mate's Octy was set by the dealer to fixed - and VW has refused to cough up for the first service that was done recently (though at least they've offered vouchers in compensation). I guess I really won't be able to decide till I know how much the 1st/2nd service would cost at an average dealer in the south-east.
  24. When you get it. A deposit may be required on placing the order (I had to pay £750) with the remainder of the deposit payable on collecting the car - assuming you're not part-exing. At the moment there's 0% over 2 years with a 50% deposit on certain models. I got 5.9% over 3 years, and then there's the options scheme.
