  1. Hi! I have my trusty (up until now) 2008 Octavia RS. I'm in the process of moving to a new home, and then... When I put on ignition, instrument cluster remains dark, no light, instrument dials or lamps are lit/working. Also the car starts, but dies after 1-2 sek (No OK signal from the immobilizer is sent to the ECM). I run a VCDS diagnosis (attached), and I found that instrument cluster and Immobilizer is not responding (Same unit) Since most of my tools are already at the new house, I could only do some basic checks with an old voltmeter, so without any load test, there are ground and 12V (2 of them) to the connector of the instrument cluster. I have checked for pushouts in the cluster connector, but I could not find from the wiring diagram from ERWIN, what is activating the cluster. I have checked all fuses in the engine and interior fuse boxes, and any connectors accessible from the removed instrument cluster, lower dash panel and steering column panels. Also tried both keys, to disconnect the battery for some time and delete all DTC (Desperate atm ) in case that would help. I tried to search for any similar issues, and I found some MKI, but no MKII with the same problem. I checked out whatever I could find for MKI that was the same. Anyone had the same problem, and a solution? Thanks for any advice. Scan-TMBEF61ZX8212XXXX-20180329-1831.txt
  2. Hi, I have the same engine in my girlfriend's RS (2008) and these engines are known to use oil, but I was able to improved to 1 liter in ~5000 km with the following: 1. changed the PCV system (Crankcase ventilation) (I did HPPFP cam follower and Diverter valve at the same time, as they are known to fail) 2. Did an engine flush with a cleaning agent that you will drive with for a few kilometers (Norwegian product called Pro-Long Motor-Rens+ http://prolong.no/content/motor-rens) 3. I now use Mobil 1 5W50 and I use less than 1 liter pr ~5000 km. Before it was 1 liter pr 6-700 km. I also change oil every 7500 km, and the engine seems happy about it. It is cheaper than a engine rebuild or changing the Engine. But I never had low oil pressure on mine. According to my girlfriend the car was different to drive after I did this, it was more responsive, felt more powerful and more torque in lower rpm. (I drive mostly my trusty A3 1,8T, so I did not feel the difference as she did) I hope this also helps you.
  3. Hi CCS, Did you ever figure out what caused this? Have the same problem on my own vehicle now, suspecting wire harness between chassis and back door. Thanks, Ole
  4. I just updated my Galaxy S2 with android 4.0 Now my bluetooth connection does not work any more. Radio message is that the device (phone) is not compatible. Anyone else got this problem, and have a fix?
  5. The garage said it was normal wear on the tires. Pic: So, Skoda's policy seem to be, that if you have inside wear on the tires, it is normal, and you have to buy new tires, even if most of the tire is only half used. At least here in Norway. I guess this will be a nice case for our AAA attorney.
  6. We have a 2009 140 hp DSG fwd that have a abnormal tire wear. The tires are the one that was delivered with the car from factory. All 4 tires are about 5 mm tread depth, except for the inner 2-3 cm's of the tires, wich are more or less blank, except right rear, wich have a small amount of tread(0,5 to 1 mm). If you stroke the edge with the palm of your hand, you can feel a "stepping" in the tire. We have had increasingly more tire noise since this spring. The winter tires shows no sign of uneven wear at all. Last fall, changing from summer to winter tires, we did complain to our local SKODA dealer about this, they did a alignment, they said, but we did not receive any papers on it. It was a little bit out of perfect, but they adjusted it anyway, they said. Have anyone had this problem on their cars? It has done about 48.000 km, a little bit over half of it on summer tires. First alignment about 25.000 km. The wheels, both summer and winter, shows no sign of damage after hitting something. No cuts in the tire, no uneven or scratched rims. BTW: It shares some suspension parts with VW touran, and I know that this was a problem that was fixed by VW. But not what was done. This type of wear is known to be excessive toe, but I do not know what the correct alignment settings for it is. In front it was about 1 mm total toe out, and about 1 mm total toe in at the rear.Measured with my racecar tools, quite accurate, but no laser tool. Superb is also listed with 2 different tires, 205/55R16 and 225/45R17. Might there be different alignment settings for 205 and 225 width? My racecar needs less camber and toe with wider tires, but it is RWD. Thanks in advance. Ole
