  1. It looks similar to the one fitted in Fabias and it is not a part prone to failure. Have you tried local vehicle dismantlers?
  2. The power steering issue may have been due to low battery voltage. Our SE shows exactly the same symptoms when not used for a while. Did the MOT tester give any indications why the emissions were high?
  3. Do you still have the electric wing mirror switch please? All tabs must be fully intact and not about to fall off.
  4. Cornelius @ German Auto Engineeing is sound and very honest as well. I have trusted him with my cars for more years than I choose to remember. JKM have a good reputation; however my other local garage of choice would be HGS in Fareham.
  5. Thanks everyone. I will check the wiring before anything else. If it comes to it, the Ebay replacement units are cheap enough not to break the bank.
  6. Thanks again. Something for me to do when I get five minutes to spare. Do you know if the micro switches can be purchased separately?
  7. Thanks. That is really useful. How do you access the locking unit please?
  8. My central locking is all working fine with the exemption of the drivers side door which has to be locked or opened manually. The alarm works as it should. I have checked the fuse and disconnected the battery and this has done nothing to resolve the issue. I am guessing it may be a problem associated to to locking mechanism. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be?
  9. This time of year is probably the worst time to sell as most people are trying to recover financially after Christmas. Looks like a cracking car which will hopefully sell as the market picks up.
  10. And another vote. Just had a set fitted after my wheels had been refurbished, so effectively fitting was free. Replacing the tyres was included at no extra cost.
  11. Brighton is a hour away from me. I will have to check my work commitments on Monday.
  12. Just north of Portsmouth if you are coming my way. I may be able to meet up with you depending on the time.
  13. You will find a lot of people have chosen not to proceed with the recall. I went for a decent re-map instead.
  14. That's a bargain for a car of that spec. It would be on my list if I didn't have my Octavia.
  15. Never had any problems with Pagid pads and the rears have no warning lights. It's a fairly easy DIY job if the have the tools and a hour to spare.
  16. I have just been quoted the following for genuine VAG parts: TPS - kit £201.50 plus VAT, water pump £46.50 plus VAT Skoparts - kit £250 inc VAT and delivery, pump £54 inc VAT. The water pumps are exchange items. I managed to get all the parts delivered for £240 from someone on another forum who Manages a VW Parts Dept I have been quoted £120 to have it fitted at a local independent garage, so £360 all in.
  17. I see a regular increase of between 3-5 mpg after having my CR remapped. 60 MPG is regularly achievable on my commute to work.
  18. They also have a lot of overheads for which all customers pay for indirectly. Guess who pays for their advertising, sponsorship, mag features etc? If you want to pay for a good map and the price of the "Brand" then fair enough . I have had Revo and Shark maps in the past, I am more happy with the personal service and the quality of the map which I received from my local and very experienced independent tuner.VAG also spend a lot of time, money and sweat in developing their products, does this mean all main dealers are also better than the small independent garages? I think not
  19. Good luck. The wanted section would be the best place for your ad
  20. Top tip. I am sure this will be useful in the future.
