Hi Z, Still got the Superb, albeit with a few more miles on the clock. Shes still going strong. There are a whole array of options out there and very few are incorrect, so here are a few products that I use. Grab a snow foam lance of eBay. I bought one for £15 and it is still going strong 2 years later. Bilt Hamber autofoam is a decent cleaning foam at reasonable cost. It isn't a thick foam but cleans well. Get a decent microfiber wash mitt and shampoo. I've got Gyeon Bathe Essence shampoo as you only need 10 squirts of the pump into a bucket and it cleans well. One of the thick microfiber wash mitt is best. I grabbed a bear car care one from Jabbasport when I was there last but there are loads online or in Halfords. Protection wise, look at Sonax Brilliant Shine detailer from eurocarparts. Use one of the discount codes on there and you should grab a bottle for around £7. One application will last 6 weeks easily. That's really all I use at the moment as, like yourself, I don't want to spend hours cleaning cars. Hope this helps a little. Neil

Your situation isn't ideal. I can understand your need to go to the hand car washes. Some ceramic coatings do have resistance to scratches caused by washing, but not sure they can resist all wash induced scratching. I would say best to get in contact with a reputable local detailer who specialises in ceramics. You aren't alone and they should have come across your scenario. Personally, I would go with what rainmaker says and go to the local Jetwash and get as much dirt off as possible. Then invest in some Optimum No Rinse and use their system. It won't irradicate scratching but if you have no access to a hose then it's the next best thing I know of. Sounds like you'll need to carry out a two stage correction as Pee81 says. Scholl concepts S17 on a CG orange pad should do the trick mate, but like Pittsy says, every paint is individual. This worked well on a BMW X6 for me, but will need refining with a finishing polish afterwards, and I would say Men's 2200 is a little on the harsh side for refining for me, but with a finishing pad it will do the trick. A ceramic coat will serve you well! The detailer will give you the vital advice for keeping the coating in tip top condition to ensure you get the longevity out of it. Enjoy!!

I got the Superbs winter prep done this week. Dodo Juice Lime Prime followed by Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid Nano. jpg I also got the Ford done too. A quick Devon and polish with Scholl Concepts S30 followed by a full wipe-down with Angelwax Stripped-ease and Sonax Nano Paint Protect. Hopefully this should get of through the winter. Now, the beading wasn't great on this so after a quick wash I thought I'd do a wee test; half the car was treated to Angelwax Ti-22 (passenger side) and half was treated to Powermaxed Winter coat (drivers side). I'll keep an eye on it and report back! Both were applied in the same way; spritzed on to a MF applicator and applied to the paint, then promptly buffed off. Now black paint is very unforgiving. Both products streaked a little but Ti-22 was noticeably glossier and less grabby on removal. I'll update with durability and water behaviour. Should be a nice little test, Ti-22 saying 4 months and Winter coat quoting up to 9. Time will tell!

Time doesn't allow for much polishing time at the moment so I, like you, am looking into the ceramic coating side of things. Feynlab is a new one on me but 30ml for £30 looks very reasonable!

Yes and no Ste. The car does stay cleaner for longer and the water behaviour is Crazy! Plus the looks are great and on the horizontal panels the wax is still A1 But black is always a pain. The sun destroys wax in the summer and salt in the winter. And this wax isn't as bulletproof as one would think, so it is slightly disappointing from that point of view. A side-by-side with Fireballs Si02 wax would be a decent comparison. The price will always go against it though. £180 is a lot of money indeed!

A quick update on Enigma; it didn't last too well on the Focus so I popped it on the Superb. It has been on there 8 weeks and has only been washed twice in that time frame. So how did it bare up? On the flat panels (roof, bonnet etc) the beading is greatly reduced, but still there. I think this is because of two reasons; there has been dirt sitting on top of the car for 6 weeks which will have bonded to the car, no doubt. The second is the car has been out in the baking sun with all that dirt on top. Black cars get stupidly hot, which will have dried out the wax which will have reduced the beading. But the beading is still there and the wax is still doing its thing. On the side panels the beading is still great! And on the windows I applied it to the water behaviour is still amazing! So 8 weeks in, all is good, but the baking sun on the black vertical panels are proving a stern test. But it's lasting better than all my other waxes have. A few photos of her at work today! Hope you guys find the update useful.

Just a quick update on my Superb.. After applying Enigma to clean paint I can confirm it likes this better than on Ti-22 from my experience. After two weeks and a wash the water behaviour is a lot better than it was on the Focus in the first post. I won't bore you with many updates, but when if anything significant happens I will let you guys know. Here are a few shots after this mornings wash!

Thanks Gents, She still comes up well. A good few hours well spent! Yeah, It's a shame about the Focus. I'll get it sorted soon, but it seems to be one thing after another at the minute. Peaks and troughs I guess.
