  1. Ok problem solved. threw myself at the mercy of the local Skoda dealership and the service guy kindly gave me the procedure. Yes Wino you were in the right ballpark. They use a special plastic tool but I used two old credit cards placed strategically against 2 hidden clips , then pretty firmly prize the cluster cover away. Then remove top steering wheel and indicators cover. So will have a shot at soldering the board when this weather clears, otherwise it's over to the dealership for a new ignition barrel and chip reader coil or god forbid an ECU Thanks to all
  2. Yes had a try at that and probing gently with an old cd around the cluster box outer trim to see if any retaining clips need releasing. but to no avail. will do a bit more digging maybe someone from Eastern Europe has posted a video on the procedure, as the Roomster seems to have sold better in Europe.. Thanks for your suggestion, regards
  3. Just in the process of elimination with an intermittent immobiliser fault on my 2011 1.2 petrol. Can anyone advise how to remove the part of the dash needed to get at the screws holding the instrument pod in place, to try a "run the solder" on the connection board. Good vids available on fabia's and octavivia's, which look pretty easy but nothing on a Roomster which is not the same assembly... there does not seem to be any dash retaining screws visible. Thankyou
  4. Thanks for replies. Sourced two roomster scout shocks through the "Micks garage" web site. dely was the next day. Shocks £79 dust cover and sleeves £32 Changed them out at 40k due to the continual wet environment they live in. So what's the verdict.. much firmer and in control ride, but certainly not harsh in any way.
  5. My trusty standard Roomster petrol suspension gets a pretty good kicking over here on the harsh road conditions in Northern /Ireland and i need to replace the rear shocks set shortly. A national car factors are offering heavy duty Monroes suitable for the Scout model for nearly the same price as a standard decent quality set. Obviously they will fit and with give me a firmer ride. What do you guys with more knowledge than me think, good idea or not ? Regards
  6. Just had this sorted at the local vw dealership.. no Skoda one for 100 miles in Northern Ireland. Same symptom, 6 wires in the loom broken or damaged. Repaired with vw crimping kit. Parts charge negligible but one and half hours labour.. niggling and fiddly job. Had my roomster 7yrs. mechanically faultless but poor quality control on electricals have been a constant irritation.
  7. Hi wallabean, thanks for your comment. The only electrical connection i can see in the upper brake pedal area is on the throttle pedal which i took as a throttle sensor. Is this where you found the brake switch?. I was assuming i needed to go further up into the dash to find it and thus remove some lower dash. interested in where you found it.
  8. nbramwell, thanks for that much appreciated. regards, Roger
  9. Further to my recent post. Has anyone had a go at replacing the brake switch on a Roomster, and how to get at it.
  10. Looking to change the rear brake switch shortly, Have understood the excellent access procedure posted for a Fabia, but the roomster lower dash looks a bit different. Which screws and panels need to be removed to get access to the switch. Regards,Roger
  11. Hi guys, Is it a "right hand thread" brake piston windback tool I need for my 2011 Roomster on a forthcoming brake disc and pad renewal, Thanks, Roger
