  1. I have had my 2011 vRS TSI DSG Estate from new and within the first few months it developed a fault, as below, and I'd be grateful to hear of anyone who has experience any issues similar to this, and if you've had any luck in it being resolved... - This is an intermittent fault whereby upon starting the car, it will either completly stall and need to be restarted, or nearly stall (revs drop to circa 500rpm for 2-3 second before returning to normal idle). - The car will always start perfectly on the second attempt, i.e. has never done this twice in immediate succession. - Fault occurs almost only in warm weather / Summer months (2011/12/13) - Fault occurs almost only after driving the car to full temp (>30mins, > 95c oil temp) - Fault Occurs almost only after restarting within 1-30 mins after stopping (i.e. when car is still hot) - only 1 exception to this, noted below, It's been in numerous times over the past couple of years, with no luck resolving the issue. This is just a small snippet from the full diary I've been keeping... 16/08 - Stopped for petrol - Stalled after restarting 5 mins later 17/08 - Stopped on Car ferry (after 90 min drive) - Stalled after restarting 4-5 HOURS later 18/08 - Stopped for petrol - Stalled after restarting 5 mins later 22/08 - Stopped for petrol - Stalled after restarting 5 mins later 26/08 - Stopped in car park - Stalled after restarting 2-3 mins later 28/08 - Stopped at car wash - Stalled after restarting 20 mins later 28/08 - Stopped at McDonalds - Stalled after restarting 20 mins later 02/08 - Stopped for petrol - Stalled after restarting 5 mins later 04/09 - Stopped at School - Stalled after restarting 10-15 mins later 05/09 - Stopped at Nursery - Nearly Stalled after restarting 5-10 mins later After this, it went to Citygate Colindate for the 4th time, after which time, I gave up on them having complained to SUK about lack of progress & lack of confidence in this dealer's workshop (due in part to this, and to some bull they tried to palm me off with about my Columbus having the latest firmware & maps, despite it being nearly 3 years old and never updated). I had previously just been in the summer that this was occurring, but now it's happening more of the time. I took it to Trans City Skoda in Walthamstow last week, and they replicated the fault immediately (something Citygate had claimed they were never able to do), which gave me some hope. They replaced the fuel pump, and I went to collect the car this morning - first turn of the key it stalled! Then did so a few more times in front of the staff there. Needless to say, I'm quite frustrated by now, so any stories of similar woes (and any success in solving) would be mich appreciated.
  2. This is my first Skoda, so don't know any different - what's wrong with the FL steering wheel compared to the previous one (apart from it smiling at you all the time!)?
  3. Exactly - a little bit of colour goes a long way - the interior is pretty much all black with the leather option, save for the silver inserts (and now I see you can even get these in carbon-fibre effect!) Choice would always be nice, but guess with more choice comes more cost, and this is Skoda - That would be an awful lot of green too Yeah, I must say I was surprised to see the red stitching everywhere - I haven't seen in the flesh yet myself - was just these pics and having had a Superb with the leather/alcantara option (also electric & so comfy - must be getting old) as a courtesy car for a few days last week that got me thinking...
  4. Hi, what do people think of these new Alcantara seats with the red stitching (which seems to extend to the steering wheel, armrest, gaiter, even door inserts)? I personally think it looks great, and would really set off say an Anthracite (or Red?!) vRS. If they'd have had this option available when I spec'd mine with leather, I'd certainly have gone for it - adds just that bit extra sportiness to the otherwise sedate interior.
  5. Mine came with the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres, and wanting to replace all 4 at the same time, I swapped the fronts to the back after 8k, as they were getting to within a couple of mm of the wear indicators - so based on current wear I reckon I'll get 16-18k out of this set. If I'd not rotated them, the fronts wouldn't have made 10k before needing to replace them - which is disappointing given the wife drives the car 80% of the time, and I wouldn't describe her driving style as aggressive, or even spirited!
  6. Apologies for misleading / giving false hope to potential vRS owners - I managed to get the folding mirrors on mine as a special order item via my dealer (Citygate Colidale) - but it seems that everyone else that has asked has been told 'no chance'. So I was lucky - and they do fold out on opening of drivers door.
  7. Hi, I have a 2011 Octavia vRS and confirm they unfold when you open the drivers door.
  8. Think Stoofa's referring to me - I just asked my dealer (Citygate Colindale) nicely, and he did the rest for me - I actually even got them for free because my original order went in without them, and the car had to be re-ordered, hence adding another 4 weeks to my wait. So glad I found this thread - I had been folding them from inside the car after every journey till now (my dealer had told me that was the only way to operate them!)
  9. Hi Stoofa. My car's coming via Citygate Colindale - Sales Manager who organised this for me is Maurice Mendoza - he actually said more people should request it so SUK might listen and officially add it to the options list. Seems strange we get told different things by different dealers. I only pushed them on this after seeing on another post somewhere on briskoda that it was a vRS option in mainland Europe. That said, seeing is believing, so until I see them, I won't get too excited (car was built last week, in transit now, so should be next week or so - will confirm then)...
  10. Nice spec Carl - v similar to what I've got going in to build next week - except I let the wife choose the colour and she chose Black :-( Since you clearly like your optional extras, I thought you might be interested to know, that although they're not officially available on the vRS in the UK (only L&K) if you ask your dealer nicely, they'll arrange electric folding mirrors for you - mine did :-) More a necessity than a luxury for anyone that has to park on a busy street, or anywhere in London for that matter!
  11. Pretty impressed with their pre-sales customer service so far - they've been very accommodating trying to satisfy my requests and constant questions. Best result I've had so far is them getting the factory to agree to fit the electric folding mirrors to my vRS - which aren't actually on the options list for the vRS (but are in Europe, and of course standard on the L&K). Still waiting for an answer on DAB compatibility of Columbus though (i.e. can it be easily upgraded (at reasonable cost) if UK gets round to switching off the analogue signal in 2015 as planned, as unlikely as that seems based on current DAB uptake). Think I got a pretty good deal too. Maurice Mendoza was my salesman, and has been my point of contact since ordering in Nov 10.
  12. Actually I was going to go for Race Blue until I consulted the wife (as she'll be driving it during the week) and she pulled a face - so it's going to be 'Black Magic' (pearlescent). That was my only concession though - I'd be buying a Ford Kuga / Nissan Qasqai if she had her way - I need to be able to have some fun at the weekend!
  13. Yes - It's 17.5% off everything - inc extras. And you could still push for a bit more - I just ordered a vRS with quite a few options, and managed to get them to give me the Xenons (£700+) free - as they weren't budging on their offer for my p/x
