  1. Best thing I did getting mine removed and stage 1 remap. Mine started giving a lot of trouble. The car's never ran better since I had it taken out. ( Mines a 56 plate on a PD engine )
  2. Not sure which bars you have but my thule bars whistled until I realised I hadn't put the rubber strip in the centre gully.
  3. 2 Labradors, a 15 month old baby and another baby due in December = Bigger car required. Done a deal on a Ford Galaxy today so we have a week left with the Yeti. The Yeti just isn't big enough. Shame really as we really do love it. We got the Yeti in August last year, it's a special edition Urban model. It's been a great car but it's disappointing that it's been in the body shop twice to have the plastic roof strips replaced, once to get 3 of the lower doors repainted and recently it had a cv boot replaced and the rear subframe mounting bolts adjusted and tightened to cure a terrible knocking noise when accelerating or making a right turn. All this on a car under 3 years old. Still got the octavia going strong on 115k Does anybody have any experience of ford galaxy's? I'd be interested to hear good or bad
  4. I prefer the look of the galaxy tbh and the extra roof space in the rear is more appealing .. Makes it easier to get my bikes in when it's not doing family duties.
  5. 2 dogs and soon to have 2 babies ... Going to sell the Yeti and buy a Ford Galaxy!
  6. I got mine tinted. I was hoping to have them similar to privacy glass but they turned out darker than that. Thought they were too dark at first but now I prefer them. Not the best pics but it'll give you an idea
  7. Best thing I ever did was getting the DPF removed from my PD170. I do around 15k a year.... I do 200 miles a week getting to work and back all on dual carriageways but it wasn't enough to save my DPF. My car was on 106k when I had the DPF removed so you could argue it' was maybe at the end of its life anyway. I'd have had it removed from day 1 if I'd known how much better the car would be. Went through an MOT last month no problem.
  8. Fred - I just want rid of them now. I've had them replaced once and I'm 99% sure if they replace them a second time they are going to crack again. I've sent codhead a PM but it looks like he isn't active on the site so not holding out much hope he'll see my email. I have read through the thread on the yeti owners site. Today I got no further with Skoda UK. They have told me they will replace the strips and that's all they are prepared to do. Very frustrating. If Theres anybody else on here with an Urban and they've had the strips removed and the roof resprayed as authorised by skoda uk please let me know.
  9. Thanks Tony .. I was pretty sure Codhead had his done. I was hoping he might come on and let me know how he got Skoda to agree to it but looking at his profile he hadn't been online for a few months. Colin - I made the point that it'd be cheaper in the long run to just remove them now but thst didnt alter their decision. I'll see what the supervisor has to say tomorrow.
  10. Need some help ! As above, I have had a second set of roof strips crack so I want them removing completely. My car is still (just) under warranty. The body shop have told me that the roof would need respraying if they do this which isn't a surprise. I'm pretty sure one or two other urban owners on here have had the same done. Was that authorised by skoda UK? Did you have to pay anything towards it. Skoda UK are giving me the runaround saying all they will do is replace the roof strips. They will not authorise the removal of them and respray of the roof to make it right. I have told them I won't accept that and I have asked for it to be passed to the supervisors to look at. It looks like I will get a call tomorrow. Skoda uk are saying they have no record of authorising complete removal and respray of any other yeti urbans which surely can't be true unless you guys on here covered the cost yourself?
  11. Dropped the car off to get the lower doors sorted today. They are going to look at the roof strips but he's told me that if they remove them the roof will need respraying so he is going to have to call the dealer to see what they say because I don't want the roof strips replacing.
  12. Time for an update..... One of the replacement roof strips has cracked!!!! The car is going in to get the lower doors sorted on Monday so I've asked them to remove the strips and leave them off. Fingers crossed there's no damage when they remove them
