  1. Just to add to this. Hopefully will be picking this up tomorrow. 2016 TDI 4x4 DSG
  2. Thanks All, so it looks like a common issue is the water pump.. And then the normal DSG servicing etc..
  3. Thanks for the reply. Yes it would be the DSG box. Are they a sealed unit or do they need to be serviced?
  4. Hi All, Firstly, apologises if this has come up numerous of times before. I am looking at purchasing a Octavia VRS TDI. I moved away from the Skoda brand a year or so back (used to have a Fabia VRS petrol) Is there any major faults with the Octy VRS TDI? >2014 onwards? Is the gearbox as reliable as my old Fabia VRS petrol? I travel around 80 miles per day, this is why I was looking for the TDI version. any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Matt
  5. The only worry is that the current extended skoda warranty is ending in Sept 2017. After that they will not insure anymore due to the mileage.
  6. I know that there are many threads on these 1.4TSI engines and Gearboxes giving up the ghost. But I wanted to know if there is any information on what the life expectancy is on this units? I'm currently at 103,000 2013 plate CTHE. Water Pump has been changed 70K Timing chain has been changed 100K A few other items, sensors etc. Apart from that its all good. Apologies if this has been covered before. Matt
  7. So I suppose the final update, vvt solenoid replaced and all is well. 1400miles later, All seems fine. Past the 100k Miles now...
  8. Getting a full list of replacement parts since they have had it in OCT. Seems like they are just replacing parts and seeing if that works
  9. Latest update. The dealer has now changed the Oil solenoid valve. It has been mentioned that every time the car has been with them since Oct 2017. It’s come back with a different fault. (Even though the warning light and basic OBD fault code is the same.
  10. So the car has been booked in for 2nd Jan 2018. Skoda technical will come down to view the car.
  11. So, hopefully someone will be able to provide some assistance? Any skoda / VW techs? Currently replaced: Timing Chain Camshaft position Sensor Wiring from ECU to Camshaft Sensor The fault that comes up is: P0016 Anything else it could be?
  12. Update: On the request from Skoda Technical. The Dealership is now replacing some of the wiring going into the ECU.
  13. I thought I’d quickly post about my experience with a fault on my VRS. EML light came on for the first time a month or so, took the car into the dealers and they diagnosed it as a stretched timing chain. This was replaced. Took the the car away, EML came back on. Took the car back in and they where asked to check the wiring (skoda HQ asked them to do this). Wiring all fine. They also replaced the camshaft position senor. I took the car again, and now the EML light has come back on. Car is with the dealership again. I think they are scratching their heads... what else could it be?
  14. I will be speaking to the dealership regarding the repairs, due to the type of work do I need to ask them to check other components of the engine? Just encase the chain has has caused problems?
  15. So the dealer confirmed that the timing chain has stretched. Will be speaking to dealer regarding it soon. Covered under Skoda good will and ŠKODA extended Warranty.
  16. So, on that note. If it is a stretched Timing chain. What would need need to be replaced
  17. Adding to this. Engine warning light came on yesterday. Care went in to dealership today, the dealer has had a look and the faults come up point towards a suspected stretched timing chain .
  18. Hi, That's the thing, it goes from high idle to normal. And then goes back up to high idle if I'm at a stand still for a while. AC wasn't on at the time it happend.
  19. Hi All, i have recently noticed that, if I'm at a stand still with the engine on for a while. The idle revs goes to around 1100. The car car is up to temp and if I drive off, the car goes back to the normal rev speed 850ish. Any ideas?
  20. Just to add to this, the EPC light was still coming on. So so I booked it in for Skoda to have a look. Left it with them on Monday morning, they called back Monday evening to say that on the diag machine it brought up a Cam position sensor fault. (Could also be other faults, but that was the only one they mentioned) They looked at the car yesterday, and I was told they are checking the timing of the car. Hopefully i I shall get a call back today to see if the timing is OK.
  21. I have had the 34H5 service, this was done on the last major service.
  22. The EPC and engine light has been showing before the water pump change. Doesnt happen all of the time.
  23. The water pump has already been replaced recently:) And i I haven't had to pay for the plugs and coils.
  24. Hi All, I have had the EPC light come on a number of times over the last 6months. I have spoken to the Dealer regarding the problem, they have changed the spark plugs and coil packs. Still doing it so they changed them again!. That seemed to work for a while, but now it's happened again. On the motorway, accelerated in 4/5 to overtake and the EPC light came on. Pulled over and switched off, now it's ok. Any my ideas on what else it could be? CTHE engine 86k miles
