  1. So I keep reading, with an improvement in MPG too...? Must.resist.modifications............
  2. Cheers Bowders, as mentioned you have been a lot of help with mods, maintenance and loss of earnings :P
  3. Yup - was a 2005. Traded it in at Franke Keanes. Could have been a second car or such, its ridiculously low I think!
  4. HAHA - Nah she is a 6 year old car, with only 65000 km on it . So far I am really enjoying the power and the refinement, but will always have a "special place in my heart" (bleugh) for the Octy!
  5. Hey all, I traded in the vRS for a new motor - gots me a A5 (3.0 Tdi for those who care). The vRS served me EXTREMELY well and this is mostly down to this form. The tips, advise (and at the expense of my bank balance the modifications suggestions) meant that it was a happy and very well maintained car. Only ever had to replace a Coolant temp sensor and a starter motor. This is how she left (crappy photo). She had LCR brembos, R32 steering, H&R lowering springs with Bilstein B6's (bit crashy for those interested), Toyo SMIC, forge TIP, S3 upper and lower strut braces, polybushed to sunder and thicker roll bars all round. More importantly it had a black carpet fitted too! Want to thank all of you who helped in particular Bowders and Luca! Peace all, Gavin
  6. I do indeed, and no faults came up. Didnt go through and log a run however.... should I? Thanks,
  7. Hey Frisco, Sorry only seeing this now. It was on the M1 both times, I am thinking it is N75....this is because Coils were replaced, no faults and I never let the fuel into the Red. I am yet get a replacement N75, so I dont know if this is the actual cause. There is a bad flat spot at 2000k under partial or full throttle now and it is just getting worse. Ah well.
  8. Hey all, Twice now (strangely in the same place) my car has lost power for a few seconds and then all is normal. The first time it happened a few weeks ago I didn't know what to think. Shorty after one of my coil packs failed and I noticed that the plastic breather that connects to the Y-shaped breather was broken. I replaced the coils with the latest revision and replaced both the Y-shaped and plastic breather. Now this morning going to work at the same place the car lost power. There were no warning lights, the car didn't miss fire, it was as if I took my foot of the accelerator. When I accelerated nothing happened, but then a few seconds later all was normal. When I got the car scanned after installing the new coils, there were no error messages. Recently I had a forge TIP installed, however this was about two months ago. I know there is not much to go by here, but has anyone had any similar experience or know what possibly could be wrong? Thanks in advance, Gavin
  9. Is this the right kit? IE G60 flywheel ect? Anyone have any experience with this kit... tempting so it is!
  10. Hey lads, Just want to say a big thanks to Luca. Recently sold me a D/P with sports cat and black carpet. I actually missed out on another one he was selling, but he came across another and let me know ASAP. Had no problem getting a price for posting to Ireland. Right from the start he was a gent, kept me updated with parts and shipping and was a pleasure to deal with. Anyone thinking of buying parts from him rest assured that he will treat you right! Thanks again Luca!! Gavin
  11. I used this guy - http://porschecalipers.co.uk/ Knows his stuff, sells various size pistons/dust seals ect so may be of use.
  12. Howdy, When was the flexi replaced? Would you post to Ireland and if so, how much?
  13. If performance is the same I might just go with the standard stuff then - presume its the same as they stuck in the LCR? Cheers lads,
  14. Hey all, Have all the parts for the Brembo upgrade, except the brake fluid. Will I go with standard or is there better fluid to be using? Thanks in advance,
  15. Hey all, Merry xmas. A set of 17" Mile Miglia twist reps have come up for sale near me. I am trying to figure if the wheels will look good on my car. I can only find a pic of an octy running 18" Miglia twists. My car is lowered 20mm - so that should help with the aesthetics some what. Also, does anyone know if LCR brembos will clear them ok? Any thoughts, help would be appreciated. Happy holidays. Gavin
  16. Absolutely everything is on there bar the tow bar and sunroof!
  17. Im saving too - I would imagine the 2.0 TSI will be close to 40000 as well. A full spec MKII Fl is costing 37000 - so if the prices increase, you can well imagine 40000e in Ireland.
  18. What the heck - its not even run in yet!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  19. I see, Hmm, have to clean mine so! Cheers Michael.
  20. Hey Michael, I was going to go with Joe as well, given the good work he has done to other peeps cars. Do you know if there is anywhere in Ireland you can get the proper oil for the ITG filters?
  21. Real quick one for ye. I have an ITG filter in my car for the past 20000km or more now. Just wondering though before I fork out on a cleaning kit or new filter - is the paper one OK for stage 1? Hope to be going stage 1 in the new year, would the standard paper filter be much of a hindrance or is it negligible? Cheers Gavin
  22. I am saving up for a new Octavia - however given that it is to grow in size and weight (are they looking to move up a segment with it?) I may look into the Rapid when that comes out (estate hopefully!).
  23. 5th Gear did another fuel comparison test - I have to say that you guys in the UK are lucky that you get such a choice. The best fuel we have avail in Ireland at the moment is the Maxol with E5 added (they withdrew E85) and not every Maxol has this. Two companies add ethanol to their fuel - but it is nominal amounts to make any noticeable difference to the economy or power of our cars.
