  1. petrol 2l vrs for service i would say fixed but not 100% sure
  2. I haven't used it very regularly recently (max 1000 miles in the last 6 months), and where it's been sat on the drive is no oil at all It's due a service soon so I'll get it checked out then, but obviously I want to top it up now
  3. On the drive home tonight my oil warning light came on What would be the best oil to buy for my 06 Octy vRS? Thanks
  4. Can someone tell me the voltage this is at? I'm guessing it only needs to send a signal to say whether the handbrake is on or not, so it cant be much...
  5. Thanks guys Dont have an owners manual, didn't come with the car :/ would have been helpful though :p
  6. Where is it??? Every car I've owned it has been under the dash around the steering wheel, is there a panel to remove to get to it? Or is it somewhere totally different? My car is an 06 Octy2 vrs
  7. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/134810-octavia-ii-useful-part-numbers/page__view__findpost__p__2210942 they are £39, call your local garage, ask them to order them and to give you a call when they arrive, then go pick them up mine were ordered at the weekend, picked up tuesday
  8. specifically check this post http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/187457-vrs-unstable-at-speed/page__view__findpost__p__2241192 (if you didn't already) probably won't be an outright solution to your problem but might point you in the right direction for getting it resolved
  9. mine's 06 and i wouldn't say it was more loose in neutral than any other car i've driven, are you buying it from a dealer or private? the calipers are green on the vRS, i think they look great on my car which is Corrida red and 18" vRS alloys
  10. see if anything here is useful to you http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/187457-vrs-unstable-at-speed/
  11. i have no problems with mine, i've had it to 120mph and it was still very smooth as Hauptmann said it is very easy to be doing 100mph, and be so smooth you dont even realise :/
  12. dont you just press the button on the dash? press it quickly to change between trip and total miles, and hold it in to reset the trip
  13. i bought this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCTAVIA-PLAYER-FASCIA-SURROUND-FITTING/dp/B003JIJZCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1292451384&sr=8-1 and just cut out the middle, fits fine, although i might take it out again when it's a bit warmer and try to modify it a bit more, since the unit sits flush at the top but sticks out maybe 1cm at the bottom, so i'll take it out and try to sort this as for cable adaptors, go down halfords, it's where i got mine from.
  14. well the thing is the stream unit i took out would switch off when the key was removed, so there must be a switched live there somewhere :/ i can live with this for now, when it gets a bit warmer i'll go out and have a play EDIT: ciggy lighter is a good call though, I'll check that one out now, if it is switched then it's not a massive problem to run a wire from there.. cheers
  15. i will have to dig out the multimeter and check i know you're right, that's how it should be, but both combinations left the radio on without the key :/ (it will switch on as soon as i plug the cables in the back)
  16. doesn't work both wires seem to be permenant live :/
  17. well it's not a big deal that i can turn it on, but that it doesn't turn off again i have to turn it off myself every time i leave the car...not a big deal really, and it's something i can live with, i'm just looking for a solution
  18. thanks for the offer studmuffin but i have a surround i have installed the head unit and it all works good, with 1 exception i cant get it to switch off when the key is removed...it seems that both live wires are permenantly live, i cant find a live that runs from the ignition i have posted a topic here about it: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/185734-problem-with-new-head-unit/ it has been suggested that i'll need to run a lead from the fusebox to the head unit, is this the only solution? or is there another way? i'm not too sure how i would even go about doing this...i welcome any ideas thanks
  19. lol tried it both combinations produced the same effect, i can turn it on with no key regardless :/
  20. it's probably because the outside temp was 4.5C/5C or similar, and during your drive it dropped to 4C. at 4C you'll get a beep warning you that the temp has dropped to 4C and there could be icy conditions. just coincidence that it happened while you were testing your brakes
  21. I have installed a new head unit into my 2006 octy vrs the unit is the one from this thread: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/184148-pioneer-avh-3200dvd/ the problem i have is i cant seem to be able to distinguish between the permanent live and the ignition live the radio is always on, even with the keys out...this isn't a major problem, it just means i have to switch it off before leaving the car, but if anyone knows what the problem is, or can tell me which cable is the ignition live then that would be great thanks
