  1. Hey, You do not need to run in your new fabia. What they state in the owners manual is rubbish. Warm the car up.... 90 degrees, then thrash the hell out of it. Make sure its within the first 50 miles too. I was reading an article on the web, i will try to find it, that states running a car in gently reduces its performance. Ive never had trouble with running in cars hard. Run hard from new = max performance maybe less life, run soft from new = less power, premature piston wear. At the end of the day its up to you, but guaranteed you wont keep it more than 3 years, so will be the next owners problem. Just my 2p. Rico
  2. All, This thread was not created to have a go at the fabia vrs. I just wanted to voice my concern regarding all these vs. threads, that were annoying me. I stated the fabia a good car in its own right, just that it isnt a fast car everyone makes it out to be. Im sure skoda didnt intend it to be a sports car... Please can this thread be closed... as its not what i intended to happen. Rico
  3. Hi Glider, Looks like it. Seem to remember it was a top speed thread, about difference in top speed depending on whether the car was standard or remapped. I didnt start the thread boasting about beating others... nor did i jump into a thread completely off topic about beating other vehicles. If you have time to go through all my posts.... please go ahead. Rico
  4. Hi D, I agree with you, a seperate forum for people to go on about their races would be a good idea. I had no intention on fishing, i just want to add value to the forums from a past owners experience. However highlighting the fact that there is no need for a vs. b has shown that other users are frustrated with this too. Rico
  5. As i stated in my original post, people would 'if you dont like it, do one' - congratulations, you win first prize for this. If you look around the forum, there was a post earlier today it was talking about the 170 cupra. Then someone came in and went on and on and on about his car beating a bmw, yadda yadda yadda. All i posted for was to say, that posts of the nature my vrs is a racecar were starting to bore me. Also about the fabia being, not 'even fast', i was trying to make a point for the disillusioned few. 'HotVRs' i have been a member on here for a while now and look at my post count. I only contribute to matters that i believe i can help in, like stereo issues or any other stuff i encountered in my ownership. This was a friendly forum and after posts like yours, i think why should i bother helping owners out. Rico
  6. A 2litre mondy would be close, a 2.5v6 ghia, for an extra £200 would show you a clean pair of heals. The TT isnt a super quick car.... 0-60 in 6.6 i think, comes with standard hair clippers and hair drier tho. A A3 170TDI did show me how quick it is though, v rapid. Mind since i have had it, 3 months, i no longer get people wanting to prove a point. Also i dont need to show anyone that when i rag my vrs it can just about keep up with them. As for ford's and mondeo's.... they are a good piece of kit for what they are. New ones a baby Jag and that. Rico
  7. This was the first one i saw this morning http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/leon-fr-tdi-170bhp/69498/ vrs vs 535, not a chance.... stock or modified Rico
  8. Hi All, Ive been a member of the forums since i had my VRS in 2005. I have moved on from then an got myself an 225 Audi TT. I still come to the forums, as i like to see how the furby is progressing and to help out with any questions i have the answer to. However all this my fabia vrs beat a 5 series beemer, my fabia vrs is soooo fast, is starting to get very tiresome. In reality.... lets be honest, its not THAT fast, infact its not even fast at all. There are so many cars that would thrash it, even a rep mobile 2.0ltr mondeo which you can pick up for about £800. For comparison my TT isnt THAT fast either. What im trying to get at, is these kind of posts and replies are starting to make the forum a place for people to make themselves look stupid.... Once you move away from the fabia vrs you will realise... well actually it wasnt fast was it. Can we stop these posts, as it is becoming tiresome having to trawl through genuine threads with people going, my vrs would beat it... Its starting to get annoying. I know people will say, if you dont like it then do one, but i rate this forum and dont want it to go downhill. Dont get me wrong the Skoda Fabia VRS is a great small hatchback, economical, well built, good residuals, looks nice. However standard its not a performance car, FACT! Just my 2p Rico
  9. Load of rubbish to be honest. It used no oil in the 14,000 miles i owned it. Changed the oil at 6k and 12k mind. It Ran smooth as silk, no tappety noise at all, great mpg, and was nice and fast. The new owner has had no issues either. As stated before, make sure the engine is nice and warm and then take no prisoners. Also give it a minute or 2 to cool down when switching off. My TT has a water cooler which cools the turbo for you, but i dont think the fabia does. Cheers Rico
  10. Hey, I had a few marks on mine, found some '1001' or is it '2001' dunno but its stain remover and worked pretty well with a small sponge and a light amount of water. Make sure you get some teflon sealant spray once the seats are cleaned, seemed to do a good job in stopping stains and also made cleaning the seats a lot easier. Cheers Rico
  11. yup, make sure its nice and warm and give it a good ragging. did this from day one in my old vrs with 3 miles on the clock and never gave me any problems in the year i owned it :-) Rico
  12. Hey, My now ex-VRS did that. One load of the wrap stuck to the bottom of my shoe, so just lobed it out the window. Then i had a load more come off, so there was no orange / sticky stuff at all. If its still hard to steer, maybe there is some more further down the steering shaft, ooo errr. Mine came away when it was really hot this summer. Cheers Rico
  13. Guys, Please see attached picture. Ill explain what i did. The supressor cost about 5 quid from halfords and completely removed all traces of humming. My indicators and revving of the car made all sorts of humming noises etc. The red wire coming from the connector from the cd changer socket, cut. The wire from the connector should go to the orange wire on the supressor (positive ignition controlled supply. The end that goes into the dension ice link bus connect to the red wire (connect to audio unit + supply). The black wire coming from the bus link that isnt connected to anything, connect with the two black wires from the supressor (connect to ground & connect to audio unit negative supply). Join these three wires together and connect to any earth point in the car. I connected them to a metal point on the side of the glove box. There you go, all done. Cheers Rico
