  1. Got mine today too, clips prefitted on mine as well (althought the dealer told me that a clip set was required...) . Can't say I noticed any lower noise level from inside, but maybe a tiny bit from outside.. Will be interesting to see if the engine heats a bit faster, that's my main objective by fitting the insulation mat.
  2. Nope, mine's got insulation around the battery - at least
  3. That's excactly what I'm after, winter can get really cold here in Norway.
  4. My local dealer said they didn't recommend fitting the insulation mat on petrol models, due to the higher heat development in petrol engines... I'm not sure I'm buying that explanation. All my previous cars (Vauxhall, Nissan, Honda - all petrol models) did have an insulation mat fitted. Cooling seems very good on the Octavia as well, the grill / airflow to the radiator area is quite huge compared to some other cars - at least my latest car - the Honda Civic with the whole front covered with plexiglass...!
  5. I've done about 1000 miles in my Octavia since may, and the computer says an average of 43 mpg. I do mainly city / mixed driving, but with some long journeys in between. By just driving in the city, the computer reads about 36-37 mpg, and on the longer journeys I'm getting about 50 mpg. There's always two persons in the car, sometimes three and some luggage as well. I still haven't checked the computer for misreading. Will check when the engine has settled more in, after a few thousand more miles. I mostly try to drive economical (cruise control etc.) I previously owned a Honda Civic 1.8 petrol, and the consumption on the Octavia seem to be very equal compared to the Civic so far. Edit - forgot to mention that mine's got the DSG gearbox.
  6. Thanks guys, I'll give it a go sometime during summer. Didn't look to hard, but I wil probably ask my brother in law (who's a VW mechanic) for assistance.
  7. Would be excellent, much appreciated if you would bother taking a pic or two
  8. That's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks! Where did you lead the cable into the dash? It's kind of hard to see from the pics. Is it at the steering wheel?
  9. Hi, did you do the hardwiring yourself? I'm really interested in doing this in my new Octavia as well, to tidy things up a bit. Have you got a pic of your setup? Thanks in advance
  10. Mine was ordered in mid december, and I have still not taken delivery... But the car is beeing built this week, so maybe mid may for me. That's 5 months exactly. The build status was postponed from mid march to "unknown" some time in february... I live in Norway as well.
  11. I'm new around here! After googling a bit for Skoda forums, this seems like a good place to settle down :-) I just placed an order for a new Octavia Combi 1.4 TSI with DSG, trading in my 3,5 year old Honda Civic. My new car will not be delivered in a few months actually, so I just have to wait...!
  12. Does anyone know if these Columbus maps work with the Amundsen unit, if transfered to a capable SD card on a computer or mac before plugging it in to the unit in the car? I've just ordered an Octavia with the Amundsen, but I discovered that it only reads CD's and I probably have to buy each contry separate when going om a road trip in Europe... :'( If there's no workaround, it would have been cheaper to buy the Columbus than the Amundsen with full European map support (x-times CD's) I guess...
  13. Hi folks, this is my first post. I have just placed an order for an Octavia 1.4 TSI with DSG gear box. I opted for the "Amundsen" sat nav unit, but after doing some research on the internet, I'm starting to believe I made a huge mistake... I can't figure out how to purchase a DVD with detailed maps of Europe, or western Europe. The only maps I find are country spesific (ex. detailed Germany, main roads elsewhere in Europe). I really need detailed coverage for several countries, as I like to make road trips through Europe during my summer vacation. So, do I really have to purchase one spesific DVD for all the countries I would travel through...?
