  1. Indeed. The Mondeo is considerably less awful than I'd expected, but it's a fair way short of being as good. The steering is a bit odd.
  2. My dear old mum has a Citigo and I went with her on the test drive. I liked it a lot, especially for urban use. OK on the fast A-road I tried too but you did have to plan your overtaking a bit.
  3. I just got back from wewantanycar. They gave me £400 less than the Autotrader suggested private sale price (including same-day payment) and it was all pretty painless. I am now an ex-Yetiist.
  4. Well, as I said, the local dealers say they've got enough Yetis - they've not offered sensible money.
  5. Ta. I'm not emotionally invested in the price I get for it; I'll be sad to see it go for any amount of money, but my previous employer gave me a car and mileage allowance that more than covered the cost of the Yeti so anything I get back at this stage is a free leaving bonus. The first Yeti cost me £2k in deposit and was worth £12k at trade-in. If they take the proberbial I'm happy to walk away from them, but the figure they've offered is above the figure I'd accept for a quick simple sale so I've got some wiggle room. And a set of winter wheels to punt on if they don't want 'em. The main consolation is that the new job is home based (but still going to see customers) so no horrible grind of a commute. Also it turns out the Mondeo (1.6 Ecoboost estate) is actually not bad at all.
  6. We want any car have given an estimate of very nearly four grand more than wbac, and two more than trusted car wptsit, so I've booked an appointment on Friday. We'll see how it goes...
  7. I was a bit disappointed when it turned out that the Mercedes was a Mondeo! Ta for the advice all.
  8. I am certainly considering it! Ta everyone.
  9. I've just started a new job which comes with a company car (no option!) so need to shift my Yeti. It's just over two years old so I know full well that I'll be losing a lot to depreciation no matter what; that said, what's the best way to sell it with minimal hassle and maximum money back to me? The local dealers say they've got enough Yeti stock and the webuyanycar offer was ridiculously low...
  10. I think what was particularly galling about the £75 was that it was only a week or so ago that they offered me it for £49!
  11. Excellent - thank you for the links. Just need to find the filter now.
  12. And they've just called back, refusing to change the pollen filter unless I pay £75 for a full aircon service. Last time that was £59, and the time before it was £49. What a bunch of scammers.
  13. Mine's in for its second (30,000 mile) service today. They kept phoning me in the run-up saying that I'd need an airconditioning service, and today phoned to say that the slight smell from the aircon is a definite sign that the aircon service is needed. The price keeps changing too. When I pointed out that it was clearly just a new pollen filter that needed changing the chancer at the dealer said it might be bacteria in the aircon gas. Given that it's still every bit as cold as when new there clearly isn't a leak, so how could I be smelling bacteria in the sealed gas system? And why would it smell exactly like decomposing pollen? They've also said that the brake fluid will need to be changed in 10 months so I should have that done now. Surely I should have that done in 10 months when it needs changing...
  14. I didn't use the word "amazing" at all - just said that the upgraded sound system is, in my view, decent value for the improved performance it affords. I design and commission AV systems for a living; "amazing" is a word I use pretty sparingly when describing sound systems.
  15. Actually, when the offer came through I went to the local Ford dealer and had a sit in one (they only had one Mondeo at the entire dealership) and it seemed fine. Door had a decent thunk to it, the seat was comfy and the controls were laid out in a sensible manner. Plus it's the estate so plenty of carrying space. I'd still rather have a choice though.
  16. And if it does, the fluid will likely just be replaced/topped-up at service. You won't need a drum of it at home!
  17. I would say - and on the basis that I really, really love my Yeti - it's mostly that some of the engines are a bit out of date (though I know new ones are incoming), which means the Yeti has official MPG and CO2 figures that are a bit off the best. And is not as refined as some of the competition. The infotainment thingy is also a bit clunky, with the 2000 track limit and some interface oddities. There are some other options I think would be nice too - blind spot monitoring, heated steering wheel, electric passenger seat... Fundamentally there is still an awful lot to recommend the Yeti.
  18. I'm going to be given a Mondeo. :peek:
  19. Sadly I, too, shall be leaving Yeti ownership in about 6 weeks; new job comes with a non-optional company car. I've quite honestly never owned a better car than the Yeti, and only driven perhaps three I'd have instead (and one of those only on sunny days with no luggage involved).
  20. Surely one tells one's man to have one of the undergardeners attend to such things, and he then has the major domo discipline the chauffeur for not issuing this instruction herself.
  21. I quite like that too, but for once I think I'd prefer it if the concept got toned down just a little. But only a little.
  22. Indeed. Lots of them getting over 300bhp out of them too... You'd think Skoda could squeeze 250 into a Yeti.
  23. I'm not sure it's fair to use "claimed" to describe the figures measured under the official test. The manufacturers are obliged to put their vehicles through the test and obliged to publish the results. My CR170 is just coming to 2 years old and its average on Fuelly is 43.2mpg. Most of my driving is on quickish A-roads but with quite a lot of junctions and lights.
