  1. Sound's hopeful! I don't suppose you've got a part number or suitable supplier do you?
  2. Hi guys, I've just had my Octy back from having it's air con looked at. The fault was traced to a "missing compressor clutch cover" Could this be a repairable issue, or is the car doomed to having a new compressor fitted? If it's a new compressor, what sort of "ball park" figure would be reasonable to expect for parts/labour to replace it?
  3. How much for the front headlights?
  4. Well guys, I think I've found the culprit! Took off the passenger side arch lining completely and gave the arch a reasonable wash down with soapy water, there was a patch of underbody sealant about halfway up that felt squelchy....peeled back the part that wasn't stuck down and sure enough there was a small hole. Not sure if it was there since new or if someone had previously repaired some damage, but it looked like it was on a panel join of sorts as there was a small ledge, maybe a few mm deep, that water could sit on. Needless to say this has now been plugged up and am awaiting a good torrential overnight downpour to triple check before replacing the interior!
  5. I'll check the doors next, although i think it's coming in further forward. The pollen filter and grommet are all nicely siliconed now so hopefully there's going to be some rain soon!
  6. That was my first thought although it seemed tight fitting when i first checked. Just took it out and all seemed dry behind. Decided on the safe/prudent thing and slathered both the grommet and gasket under the pollen filter in silicone! Now for it to dry and rain!
  7. Lol. I'm not with the car right now. I Should of thought of that earlier! It's looking forward/up at the front edge of the passenger footwell, with the soundproofing behind the glovebox pulled back a bit.
  8. Help!!! after much baling of water and drying out of carpets, I've finally decided that there's still a water leak on my octy :( I've cleared the compost from the scuttle drains and they now run freely, as do the sunroof ones After last night's little downpour I think I've narrowed it down to coming in through the front of the passenger footwell through the drain (?) in the bottom of the attached piccy. only trouble is I have no idea where to look next as this appears to be a pretty substantial piece of metalwork! thoughts and directions much appreciated
  9. Booked the car in next Friday to be looked at by an indy garage, so hopefully it'll just be gas (or something cheap!)
  10. OK, there's now a 9V feed from the Fan controller, took it out and reseated all the connectors, must of disturbed it when I changed the battery before xmas. Still doesn't seem like it's cooling very well, is the consensus that a re-gas is needed now? (not sure if it's ever been done before)
  11. Cool :-) Guess I know what I'm doing this afternoon after work now!
  12. Check with the meter on my way home just now, all looking normal, not sure if the fans cut in under climatronic control, but can check tomorrow, I know pulling the clutch fuse turns both fans on though (ignition off). I'm guessing the "easy" way to the fan controller is battery and tray out?
  13. Only Visually, would it be worth double checking with the meter?
  14. OK, I'm sure there's an easy solution to this problem, the Aircon on my 01 Octy doesn't seem to work, bought the car just before xmas so not really had the weather to find out till now! The self-diagnostics on the climatronic doesn't show any stored codes, neither does VCDS, all the fuses and mag-clutch look ok, and the Hafrauds pressure test says 'normal' so I'm not thinking it's low pressure or mechanical, more electrical! A quick check on connector T4a by the battery shows a good earth, however I cannot get a 12v on pin3, all the fuses are also OK. Questions.... 1) Where does the power feed to T4a run? (the wiring diagram says it goes to a 14pin connector by the radiator fan control unit but where is it?!?!?) 2) Any other parts to check out that may be causing the problem?
  15. Just replaced my old Mondeo with a nice shiny 2002 Octavia Estate, looking to swap out the Symphony HU with my JVC unit, complete with the iPod & DAB tuner boxes! A quick try shows that the Octy has nice ISO connectors which play nicely with the JVC...just add aerial booster and remove k-line of course...however I can't push the HU back far enough with all of the JVC wiring loom in place, not even attempted the interface boxes yet lol! OK Guys silly question time..... 1. What's the easiest way to get access to the back of the head unit to aid in cable routing when replacing the unit? 2. Where's the best place to stuff extra cabling & add-on boxes behind the dash?
  16. I've had the PD100 paired with a SH1000 head unit for a while, basically it's a black box that you hide under the dash somewhere, plugged into the back of the HU and leave the iPod dock connector hanging out in the glovebox. It should then let you control the iPod using the interface on the HU, however whilst this works flawlessly with my old 3G iPod, it doesn't work with my touch....not sure what the compatibility is like with the other newer iPod models, it may be worth ringing JVC direct and asking the question
