  1. yep - 2 kids. But SWBO has dictated no Vauxhall, no ford, nothing french or with a french engine :(
  2. Right here it is... we have three cars. A Nissan qashqai +2 2.0 dCi, a Fabia vRS TDi and an '84 Porsche 924. SWBO has decided that after driving the QQ for a week that it's too slow (Fabia has spoiled her). So the requirement is - big boot, oem Sat nav, grunt, good economy. Budget is not limitless but finance is available - plus the QQ is 100% paid for. so ideally up to 25K - but I might push towards 30. Having said that though cheaper the better. Don't really wanna buy new - ex demo would be the best option - so waiting for the new Octy vRS is out. Shortlist looks like this... Octy vRS diesel estate - prob around 18k but will need to add sat nav as a retro fit (pros? cons?) Superb 170ps Elegance estate - how does it compare to the Octy? Not really sporty. Around 25k. and BMW 520d M-sport touring - local Beemer dealer has two low mileage cars at £29k. Any comments? Been mulling this over for days....
  3. So between me and the missus our skoda history goes something like this... Favorit Felicia Fabia Silverline Fabia vRS Octavia Elegance 2.0 TDi (Kids had arrived) Then we had a bit of a break but it had to happen... the boys are in booster seats now and boot size isn't so critical so our second car is... another Fabia vRS 130 Boy I missed it and it's good to be back
  4. I have exactly the same problem on my "new" felly - gauge does not move. I'd kind of assumed temp sensor to be honest. Might change thermostat as well to be certain though...
  5. I got one!!!! Not the Bohemia - but a nice solid 96 LXI Plus Hatch. Zero rust, 6 months tax and MOT til Sept for £500. Pretty pleased Forgot how much fun they were... need to service and clean it but it'll do the job I think. Not sure what the "plus" adds!!! Central locking and Stereo I guess - cos theres nothing else... Tim
  6. Thanks for the feedback - hope the car is as good as it looks... Will keep you updated - I think one way or another there will be a Felicia on our driveway again soon... Jeffers - where are you based and what are you selling? Tim
  7. I've been away for a while - but what with the price of fuel continuing it's increase, me and the missus reckon it's time to put my Porsche 924 into temporary retirement, and get a cheap, reliable, efficient car... and that means back to a Felicia I think. The porsche replaced a Fabia VRS, which replaced a Fabia Silverline which replaced a Felicia Bohemia... This will be a second car, as the wife has an Octy 2.0 TDi Elegance, and I've seen a nice blue Bohemia Estate in blue.... you might say we like Skodas So, what should I be looking for? The one I've seen is about £700 with 60ish on the clock and "looks" tidy from the pics. Does the money sound about right/too much/too little? Any advice appreciated...
  8. Hello We've recently bought a 54 plate Octy Elegance and wanting to install the ipod in there like we did in the Fabia Vrs..... We've ordered the part, it's arrived and when the bloke came to fit it he told us we needed the Quadlock unit and not the ISO connector. Admittedly it does look the same as the ISO connector we took out of the fabia but the supplier assures us that it's the correct connector for Quadlock. Does anyone have a pic of what it should look like? The wife is at the end of her tether after ringing the supplier, skoda and the fitters to try and get this sorted...and still being no further along
  9. Does anyone know if such a thing exists??!! We're currently trying to sell our Sillverline and the first place everyone seems to go is What Car which highlights it susceptibility to overheat. "'1.4 8v susceptible to overheating and coolant leaks which can wreck engine'" We've had the car 2 years and had no problems, it's been serviced regularly and no one has mentioned that this might be a problem. Yet all our prospective buyers seem to trust What Car..... At the moment it seems like we'll have to give the car away cos no one wants to buy it!
  10. Any idea on price? Are they coming to the UK? Could just fancy the 2.0 TDi 'Tavia....
  11. We're hoing so - it appears VW are bringing out a 170bhp diesel Golf... could be the sign we've been waiting for..... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/55311/vw_revives_gtd_badge_on_hot_golf_diesel.html
  12. Lozparry, any idea when that is likely to be? She'd rather hold out for the diesel Vrs... having had another look at the Sport she's decided it's a waste of time and may as well opt for an Elegance with extras. But she'd drop everything if there was a chance there'd be the 170bhp vrs diesel
  13. Thanks for that - doesn't seem to have an uprated suspension though.... certainly might be worth a looksee though....
  14. That's what the wife wants to hear. She's keen to ditch the Silverline for something with more grunt but more like a family car. She was seriously unimpressed by the 105bhp tdi and keeping her fingers crossed for something along the lines of the Vrs but diesel - I'm guessing they'll prol do the Octy Sport instead of the Vrs diesel. If you spot anything online about it let us know!
  15. There's been a few articles around about the Octy Sport but as yet I haven't found any info on it.... The Fabia Sport (not much better than my wife's silverline) has been on the Skoda website but no sign of the Octy.. Anyone got any ideas on the spec or if they are planning to release the new shape Vrs in a diesel version?
