I had same problem with mine several months ago and that turned out to be the relay/hazard switch. Managed to source a brand new one from ebay for less than £15 !!, and yes it was literally a 2 minute job to pop the new one back in !

... erm, no. Everything in order re brake fluid. Diagnostic check isn't showing anything. It's doin my head in !!

Hi everyone, Hope someone can shed light on this !! I have a 2003 Octavia vRS, and I have recently encountered problems whilst under gentle braking, when pulling up etc. Firstly, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights come on randomly whilst just driving. Secondly, I could be braking gently as if pulling up at a junction or traffic lights, then under braking there is quite a violent thudding sensation accompanied by a loud clunking noise. (the thudding sensation seems very harsh for ABS!) This can be quite erratic, and can be fine for several days, then suddenly returns. I have had ABS sensors replaced and new grooved discs with green stuff pads fitted but I am still experiencing this problem. Any ideas ? Regards, team JUICE

Firstly, I noticed that the ABS and Traction Control warning lights would light up together, basically anytime they felt like it ! Then the next time I would get in the car they would be off. Then they would come on again at some point, then off, then on again a bit later, then the ABS light would perhaps light up on its own the next day...you get the picture by now ? Anyway further to this, if I was pulling up to a junction or traffic lights perhaps then under braking I would feel quite a violent thudding/clunking sensation through the brake pedal and also quite a loud clunking noise. This would be quite erratic and only do it now and then, similar to the erratic warning lights. One day the car is fine, the next it throws up all the above symptoms !! I have had ABS sensor replaced today, but the "clunking" noise/sensation under braking has appeared again !!! Any ideas ? Cheers, Lee

Hi there, I'm Lee (team juice) and as the title suggests I am indeed a forum virgin, so please be gentle with me ! I'm new to the Skoda brand and I can honestly say that I am well impressed. I have only had my Octavia vRS about 4 weeks, but I look forward to driving it every day. I've had many high performance cars including various RS Fords, Alfa Romeo, Nissan, R5 GT Turbo (many years ago), and the vRS is right up there.
