  1. Woke up on Sunday morning to find that some ***** has bent forwards both of my wing mirrors. The drivers side has been snapped/sheared off and is just hanging on by the cable and the passenger side only needs a new cover. I've tried looking on the internet for a new replacement mirror but cant find any for my car, they all seem to be for pre FL models. Does anyone have an idea of where I could get a full replacement mirror for the O/S? Its the standard VRS one (electric and heated). The covers are easy to get hold of but not the full unit. Also is there any advice on here on how to fit them or is it a chew on? Cheers
  2. i had exactly the same problem in my car. like you have already done i removed the end panel on the dashboard and checked the torque screws you can get access to. i eventually found the noise to be the plastic heater pipe/duct thing rubbing against the plastic next to it. the way to resolve it was to loosen all the torque screws around it, push the heater pipe/duct away from the plastic and then wedge some paper in between them. then i re-tightened the screws and re-fitted the end panel. i've had no rattles or squeeks since i did it 6 months ago!
  3. Just wondering if anyone can give me a simple breakdown of how long the current skoda warranty lasts for engine parts / paintwork etc and any other areas that are covered i have a 2011 octavia vrs Cheers
  4. typical! as soon as i put this on they have changed the advert on the superskoda website to now say they should be ready in the middle of december 2012. previously this was october. guess ill just have to wait unless someone knows where the old one is for sale at?
  5. just wondering if anyone has an idea on what superskoda are doing with their honeycomb grilles for the fl octavia? it seems like they no longer advertise or sell the original one with no cut out section and the new version with the section cut out for the bonnet lever isnt in stock or available despite being on there for £129.99. has anyone bought one recently as ive tried contacting superskoda but as you know theyre not the best in responding to questions!
  6. I actually live just round the corner from Darlington so I'll try some where around that area. I've tried a few already in the area and they all say around 70 quid which I thought was a bit much
  7. jonno, where i notice you live in newcastle. where did you get your grille wrapped? i work in gateshead so if its in the north east somewhere i might give them a go if youve had no probs and it was a good job
  8. yeh i thought it was too good to be true being cheaper than the rest but decided it was worth the gamble!......obviously not!! i'll pm daz if youve still got one for sale. i was going to go colour coded as well and do it in white but wanted black for the new badges to stand out. then once ive got the funds ill get the wheels done!
  9. i know there have been many topics on these forums about the chrome grille on the front of the octavia wrapped in vinyl but i was just after a bit of reassurance!! i have a white vrs octavia fl model and wanted the chrome grille done. i was getting quotes of around £70 from most places apart from one who said £30. i went for them and ive just got it back but the quality is shocking! ive never had anything wrapped in vinyl on any of my cars and never really seen it up close on others so could someone tell me, when it is done properly should it be perfectly smooth or does it still show small bubbles everywhere when you look close up?? the bloke who did it reckoned he does cars all the time, but this grille was very awkward and he said matte black was a hard colour to get right??!! it seemed like he was just making excuses for a poor job! anyway in the end he gave it to me for nothing so im no worse off, but im not putting it back on the car cos i thought it would be a smooth paint like finish so should i be reluctant to take it to one of the other garages and pay £70 for something that is just as rubbish and full of bubbles etc, or do you reckon this was just a bad experience? for the others on here who have had it done is yours good quality?? thanks
  10. cheers for that fubar. bought mine off ebay from rainworth skoda and they came today. spot on. going to wait till i get the grille done first before putting them on though. still undecided as whether to go for colour coded, matte black or shiny black?!
  11. sorry to repeat what plenty of people have already asked, but which badges are required for a 2011 octavia vrs? is it the curved badge for the front and back? curved one for front and flat for back? or curved for back and flat for front?! much appreciated
  12. took it to the dealers today and both things are sorted. the rattle in the tailgate was a loose metal clip which they fixed back on and the guy took the glovebox out and put it back in and it seems to have sorted it as well. if it starts again tho ill wind them screws out as suggested
  13. rang up the dealers today and im going in this afternoon to get it checked out ill give an update in case anyone else has a similar issue
