  1. Well I hate to admit it my Octy TDi has won the battle of wits. :( I've had a number of problems since I brought the car last year. Water leaks, rattles and buzzes by the dozen, the interior mirror fell off TWICE, a noisy exhaust, which the dealer put down to 'the cold weather!!! Creaky door seals and loud wind noise, (not me the car) So I took the motor out for a run today and managed to trade it in for a Honda Civic i-vtec 1.8 ES. Shame really, the Octy was my fourth Skoda and I've never really had any issues with the others. I'll still keep an eye on Briskoda though, and who knows maybe "I'll be back" Bye
  2. Hope some of you Octavia lads and lassies can help me with this... I've got an Elegance version with the standard 'stream' radio fitted. I had the maxidot display and multi function steering wheel added. I was quite happy with both of these items untill I read a few comments on Briskoda, saying that people had the radio channel details and cd track details showing on their maxidot display. I don't have either showing on mine. :( I've looked into the options menu of the maxidot, (hold the rocker switch for a couple of seconds then scroll down etc) but I find no mention of 'audio' in it. I sure there is someone out there with the same motor as me, elegance 1.9tdi, stream radio, maxidot, mf wheel, who could tell me if their maxidot is working the same as mine or not.
  3. Just as an aside... I've seen other threads saying you get the radio details, station etc. on the maxidot display. Not on mine you don't. Tried various ways of setting it up but still no joy, it would be handy to see the details on the dash instead of taking my eyes off the road to find what station or cd track I'm on. Any ideas???
  4. A mate of mine has been told he's the first Skoda buyer at Dunfermline. He picks up his Octy Elegance tomorrow, an ex demonstrator from Chathams in Edinburgh, 2000 mls on the clock. Says it's the best car he's had a test drive in...another convert.
  5. I've removed this unit on my Octy. It's not too difficult, as the 1st reply says just lever it off with a screwdriver. Take your time though it just needs to be levered off SLOWLY, work your way round the unit, don't try an lever it off from one end. Tools required are :- 1x srewdriver, 1x cloth (to protect the dash etc) & lots of patience. Good luck

  7. Hi from an ex military type. 18 yrs service, and wish I'd never left. Go with a possitive attitude and enjoy it, remember, there will be loads of others in the same position as yourself. The team works.
  8. Hello Roy welcome to the madhouse
  9. I know there are a few threads with 'rattles' as the main theme, but can anyone help me with this... I've a 3 month old Octy II Elegance tdi. When I accelerate through 30-40 a 'buzzing' noise comes from, I think, inside the centre of the dash by the hazard warning button/centre air vents. It seems to be some sort of vibration noise. It's not a major problem but it's driving me MAD :twirl:
  10. I've just picked up an elegance octy, and the leather steering wheel, gear k-n-o-b and gaiter + the handbrake grip, were all fitted as standard.
  11. Thanks for that. While I was looking on the site I also found a thread about creaky seals, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t32306-creaky-seals.html, I think I'll try and lubricate them tomorrow, as the skoda garage here is shut over the weekend/ thanks again.
  12. Iv'e just changed my 1.9 tdi 2003 octy ambiente, for a new 1.9 tdi pd 109bph elegance hatcback. All is well so far, but when I'm driving slowly on local roads, (ie not too smooth). It seems like the windows both front and rear rattle in their frames. if I let the windows down a bit all the noise vanishes. If I'm on A roads going a bit faster the noise vanishes too. I never had this problem in the 2003 model, anyone know if this is a trait of the 'new octy'??? Or is it a visit to the garage!!!!!
  13. A big HELLO from Scotland
