  1. Thanks!!! I had the same conclusion after some optical inspection, though a confirmation was needed before wrecking the whole floor. Its clear now; to much work / not sure if the seat will stay in place afterwards :P (braketest > boing!) A big plus for the Superb than! (drove a v6tdi for 1.5 year, what a comfort)
  2. uhh, I had the same problem with 23k a year. So LPG was the solution to that "problem". (and still is) Dumping the vRS is not an option! (don`t let the car hear it)
  3. Hey, maybe this is something for a new topic but do you know if the chair can be placed a bit more backwards? Like a Superb or Benz, with more space that way. I have long legs... Greetings, Snoetje
  4. I`ve got Red stuff since 10k miles with solid EBC disks (front), 10k back they were worn out and after comparing all (!) options - (Ferodo, EBC, drilled or solid disks etc etc) the best option for me was to stick with EBC, only with the better pads. (Red vs Green) If Green is what you are used to know, the Red stuff will give you a big smile for the money Ferodo DS-2500 (with Tarox G-88 I would guess to get all out of it) would be better for track days as other users quoted, BUT in my opinion for daily use the Red is the best bang-for-bucks. Practical: dust from the pad seems less with the Red stuff (vs Green) I found out while washing the car. Since the Octy rims (or my "NewRS4") are a bi... to clean, also a big plus Little detail: the look in the rim becomes different: Green (calliper) with red (pad). (standard all Greenish)
  5. The Nuvolari's? Good choice, both are nice though. Difficult isn`t it :P
  6. (ah, there`s a max 1.93mb piclimit I understand now)
  7. haha, I don`t have a tunnel (why use a tunnel if never driving in one ) I`m trying to find out how to smoothen the downside of the car. (without carbonfiber plates :P) The Passat Bluemotion is - compared to standard - lowered and also smoothend at the downside. That combination would be reachable. The best economy - out of one tank - I wil post. (with average MPH, weather) (off course not representative for the rest of the year) Now a laugh, in 2020 serious at meetings :P 0-400m @ 90 MPG, TRACKRECORD!! haha ("big engines are so lame")
  8. The LPG costed me 1600 euro (about 1050quids) in 2006 thanks to the type (OHG), asked the company a week ago however (for someone else) and it is 2000 euro (1300quids) these days. Road tax is a third higher here in Holland, but given the amount of milages I do (22k a year) well worth it. Took me one year to get the investment back and now laughing at the pump (I really do) Also you have nice convesations sometimes with fellow LPG-drivers. ("how many miles have you done" etc) At the traffic lights you can blow away and 1 mile later switch to economy again, try that with a Scooby, AMG, S4 or something -- edit -- another thing, it isn`t a hybrid in our country. (you have to got "voltage" for that like Prius) Also the earning back time was that quick since gasprices are lower, 51 eurocents at the moment (0,32pounds), Germay has your pricetag for LPG. (high for our standards) But still worth it compared to ron98 prices
  9. Than LPG; cheaper, cleaner, faster. And no cursing here, diesel pff!
  10. Yepp, mountingpoints are the only thing that is rests on. (as far as my knowledge goes)
  11. Lambo`s are cool, but since you have a black Octavia the Audi rims would be a good combination too. (black would make it a bit stealthy)
  12. Hmm, not familiar with the product yet. Did some research in Dutch forums, but a lot don`t know if it really helps or is just marketing... Two problems with LPG: - less cooling (higher temps) - no lubricants in it For the lubricants you can switch to ron98 once in a while. (maybe switch to more expensive, BP has it here) For the cooling two options: drive slower (I keep it under 4bar/3500rpm) or get waterspray? :P Nice! A lot of forums say it has something to do with how "hard" the valves of the engine are. A 225 engine has stronger valves if I`m correct, so that would make a vRS engine worth the thought for a cooling product?
  13. MPG when driving on LPG goes down to 25, after my remap (and K&N) it is 27. Any lower than that isn`t possible. (see my postings in a try for better economy :P) Performance is good (LPG is like octane 100), but I won`t push it to far. - when drivingstyle involves revlimiter (or near), there is less power compared to patrol. (no point driving on the edge then) To spare the turbo I keep it on gas below 0.4 bar on average (gauge) and on the highway not higher than 90 mph. After all LPG is about economy, otherwise WRC would run it :P Launche control at the traffic lights?: switching to octane 98. Autobahn speeds?: again switching to octane 98. Maybe others think I`m a wuss, but my car beats them in the papers on the long run. (costwise) Beats them twice when switching to octane 98 enough The LPG companies averagely won`t make an efford to build it in smooth and therefore ram a hole in the rear bumper, that the customer than later has to paint over or so. Don`t let them put it in the bumper, looks awfull. (sorry mates) The option of the petrol cap isn`t gonna work, to small for it. (measured it, again at the LPG company) I had to struggle quit hard for another option, but finally they did it for the same price. A few pics attached with the result of my demand, try to get the same parts I would say
  14. vRS rims are a pain to keep clean, good reaction! The honest reactions keep you sharp, I dislike "persons" who will say the suit looks nice, when the shoplady advices not to buy it. Al a matter of tast. Nice rims or not, RESPECT ANYWAY cause you drive a Skoda I don`t mind the details of (Bri)Skoda drivers, we are from the same team. (its in our blood )
  15. The box "hangs" at each side in a hole/put, put some soft stuff (thin rubber, local hardware shop) in it and it should be gone. The sound in my opinion starts from the hangingpoints. Greets, Snoetje
  16. The dash is @ 90 after 4 miles or so (cold outside now), BUT the oil gauge starts to rise after (a long) 10 miles! When freezing up to 20 miles, also depending how hard you are driving. (I slow if oil is not on temp) Some weeks ago I drove a Felicia for one day and that took 26 miles before it was 90 degrees!!! (1.3i) Lovely car btw, since it doesn`t have te stupid ESP build in :P (sideways trough corners again after a very long time) But to the point again, it is the G26 sensor right? I changed it for 2 years ago. (red light came on after start, got irritating) My guess it that sensor needs replacement, since your engine isn`t different from others. Asked the dealer already?
  17. Just before buying the Octi vRS I did al lot of research for this and looking at all aspects the V40 T4 came up. But worse economy, space and looks. The Octi vRS isn`t standard compared most of the other cars. (I never have to search on a parking lot) If you build in LPG a Omega 3.0v6 (I owned a 2.5v5) is huge to have, but with gas there are far more options than. (I looked at a Senator 3.0 24v, cops in your country used to drive them) Plus better sounds with V6 engines, ah whatever. On average they`re slow compared to the Octi vRS. Look at it this way: from your current car you know what you`ve got (technical state), when buying some other ride you have to wait for that... (could be a piece of junk) Keep in mind a lot of people sell their car because it is becomming expensive. Switching would be a gamble than... I would keep the car and spend a few quids on modding. Greets, Snoetje
  18. Thank`s for the reply`s all of you The verdict will be that, for the price of a 5-th change, the economy isn`t good enough. (if it is there, don`t earn it back in 5 years) On the last trip this evening it wasn`t possible to get te speedo lower than 40,2 MPG. ( ) A different gearing isn`t gonna change that (much) since it depends from more things - I learned by know - as windspeed (!), tyres, earodynamics and weight... (found a beautyfull stripped Furby vRS on Briskoda, but thats a little extreme for me) Lowering the car would be a cheaper option and more efficient for the economy, I`m gonna investigate this now. Idea of the low-gearing was good though I think Maybe its a fase and I will grow over it. (with a IHI treatment from a Jabbadoctor or something)
  19. And costwise not what I had in mind, the 300 drop (or 600) is the main question. About crawling around, not the case since on motorway speeds shifting back to 4th is done anyway to get the best out of a sprint. (doesn`t most vRS drivers do?) Big question still: is for economy the engine torqy enough @ low revs?
  20. edit: and can you gain from that with 300/600lbs less (sorry, switching to another language is hard sometimes :P)
  21. The company mailed me another option this morning, 600rpm lower. But I agree its doubtfull that in case of uphill (or wind) it would run cheaper with a higher gearing. (watched my speedo the whole week, hmm...) Al little gain would be good enough though, but regarding to the sound proofing, what sort of actions would be possible besides the gearing? (don`t remember a member done that before) Big question seems to be: is the engine torqy enough @ low revs? (and can you can from that with 300/600less)
  22. Put out the panel above the pedals (few screws) and leave it open, now look under the bonnet and behind the engine you`ll see a black rubber thingy. (seems "grommet" in English) Put a long screwdriver trough it and (with a light) you can see it inside the car. (above the pedals) Trough that hole I fitted the vacuumhose for my gauge. Hope we are on "the same line" now :P (and thanks for updating my vocabulary)
