  1. I know I'm going to get pelters, but I actually quite like the photoshopped mock up. I think it looks edgier, and although I like having the running lights and fogs, I'm not bothered where they are. Just my personal opinion. I'm hoping that the facelifted model will still be affordable. That's my holy grail. With the base model Golf around the £16k mark, the prices of family cars have gone through the roof. we had to stretch to get our 1.2Tsi S coming in at £14,500, and I'm hoping the same spec of facelifted model won't be rediculously far off that mark. I'm due to change at the 3 year point next March, so thinking of ordering in December when the new one comes out, if I can afford it. I suppose the silver lining is the high resale value of the current model. I was up at Henrys is Glasgow getting mine serviced last March, and there was a used 1.2Tsi S sitting outside, exactly the same age and mileage as mine, interior torn up by dogs. The price - £14,500. Exactly what I'd paid for mine, brand new!
  2. Mine arrived 2 and a half weeks after it's build week, so shouldn't be long now!
  3. Trailing edge rockhopper. See my photographs earlier in the thread. I think I confused matters in my original post by saying leading edge when I meant trailing.
  4. You trying to say my Yeti is hooky! ;-)
  5. Sadly for me, my paint isn't intact. And the wee dent is really obvious on mine. It's maybe due to the lighter colour. Just saw one in the car park at Ikea in Pacific blue. It was a 10 plate and I couldn't see any dent. It must just be more obvious on some than others. And I've got the blemish to the right of the manufacturers mark, which has been crudely painted over with touch up stick. Just for my own interest James, what would you do in this situation? I don't know if I want to risk a re-spray, but the car isn't right. Cheers. Stouff.
  6. Jekyll, the plot thickens. Here's what I've got on the edge of my bonnet. You can see the indentation in the centre and to the right the poorly touched up blemish. I wonder if it's a manufacturing fault? Right in the line of sight for the driver. Not a huge deal, but annoying nonetheless. Millstone, I know! It is a petrol one, so don't need to wait so long. It may seem like a short wait to some, but it felt like forever to me!
  7. Thanks for the replies guys, I was just glad I spotted the problem on handover, or otherwise, I'm sure they would have contested me over it. To be honest, it's not that bad, but it's more the principle of the thing. You buy a brand new car, wait 3 months for it to arrive, and then it's damaged before I've even collected it. Now, having waited a while to get my hands on it, I've got to take it back and be without it whilst they fix it. And, if it was damaged in transit or in the care of the dealership, then it was underhand to try and cover it up and hope I wouldn't notice (something you might feel was worth a goodwill gesture). In fairness to them, they have said they will provide me with a courtesy car, so it's not all bad. Having said that, I've never collected a new car in anything other than pristine condition so I'm not sure what my rights are in this instance. Cheers. Stouff
  8. Hi guys, Picked up my brand new Yeti 1.2 TSi S in Aqua Blue on Tuesday. When the salesman was going through handover with me, he asked me to check I was happy with everything and on first inspection, everything seemed hunky dory. When I was sitting in the drivers seat familiarising myself with the controls I noticed that there was a tiny dent on the leading edge of the bonnet, right in the middle, only visible from the interior of the car, and about a centimetre to the right of this, an obvious blemish in the paintwork. I showed this to the salesman, and to his credit, he said it clearly wasn't right, and that he would let the sales manager know. He phoned me the following day, I took the car back in and they photographed the problem to send to the Warranty folk at Skoda UK. The service manager said they would wait for instructions from Skoda UK, but to expect to be without the Yeti for 4 days. They would provide me with a courtesy car. Any ideas why it would take 4 days to replace my bonnet? I'm slightly concerned that they're planning to respray the entire car or something? I'd rather that they didn't. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm slightly peeved that they saw fit to put the bonnet on the car when it has clearly been dropped and roughly touched up in a slapdash manner. I suppose that they're in such a rush in the factory that this sort of thing must go on. Would I be entitled to some sort of compensation?
  9. Hey Jekyll, Hope you're enjoying your Yeti. Picked my 1.2TSi S in Aqua blue up on Tuesday!! It's a cracking engine. I can't believe how nippy such a small engine in such a big car can be!!

dds, are you still waiting for yours to arrive? I got mine on Wednesday at Henrys. If you see an aqua blue bombing about in the east end, it'll be me!!
  11. Finally there's a Yeti in my driveway!! This is my shiny new 1.2 TSi S in Aqua Blue. Stouff

Hi Gerry, picked up my Yeti 1.2 TSi S (No factory fitted options) yesterday approx 12 weeks after it was ordered. The shortest order to delivery I have heard about on this site was a 1.2 TSi Elegance which arrived 7 weeks after order, but the owner was convinced he had got a cancelled order that had already been built. It appears that cars with the 1.4 and 1.8 TSi engines have the shortest lead times, but the 1.2TSi isn't far behind. Having said this, it appears to be down to pure chance how quickly they will arrive. Some folk have ordered petrol models in October and are still waiting, I ordered in December and have got mine. Some ordered in February and are just waiting for shipping. It seems to be just your luck. All I can tell you is it's worth the wait!!

  14. w4rn3r, I had been pre-assigned a reg no when I got to the dealership, and to be honest, I wasn't enamoured with it, so I asked if I could choose one, as this is the practice I'm accustomed to in other purchases I've made. The salesman disappeared and came back with a wee black book full of reg numbers. I chose one I was happier with and that was that. I would definately query that with them. It probably causes them hassle if they've pre-printed paperwork or whatever, but they shouldn't refuse to change it on that basis. That's just laziness!
  15. w4rn3r, I just re-read my post and realised I typed week 9 instead of week 10! I'm a lying hound, and I was clearly over excited! Sorry for misleading you. You were a week 12 build, weren't you? I thought this was week 12, so if your car is already in transit, then it's ahead of schedule is it not? You may find you get it quicker than you thought. My dealer told me mine wouldn't arrive before April from a week 10 build, so I'm pleasantly surprised, and pleased as my car hadn't depreciated a penny from it's December valuation!!
  16. Hey w4rn3r, I was build week 10. Aqua Blue 1.2 TSi S with no factory fitted options ordered on 23rd December 2010. The car is arriving at the dealership on Monday, and I'm picking it up on Wednesday afternoon. Can't wait!!!
  17. Got the long awaited call this morning. My SM is at Grimsby! I should get it early next week!!!!
  18. None of the car magazines has done a comparison test which seems to compare the Yeti with it's most natural rivals. As far as I'm aware, none of them have compared it with the Qashqai or the Tiguan, Sportage or ASX. It always seems to get compared with the Golf or Focus, which seems like a bit of a red herring in terms of comparisons?
  19. Mike, out of curiosity, what build week were you given? My 1.2 TSi S was ordered 23rd Dec 2010, and was supposedly a week 10 build. My dealer phoned me a week before and told me the system still said week 10. So I'm assuming that my car was built a couple of weeks ago. Just trying to figure out whether my car might be at Grimsby or still in transit if at all?

    Yippee!

Jeez dds, that must be the quickest turnaround yet! I make yours 4 weeks from order to build date! I ordered my 1.2 TSi S manual on 23rd December and just had a confirmation of a week 10 build. I guess it's just your luck when you get allocated a build week. Even for the petrol models. We should get ours around the same time start of April. Enjoy when it arrives...
  21. Spotted a red SM driving past the barras on the Gallowgate this morning in Glasgow. Was it any of you?
  22. 5 in from the right on the top deck there's clearly an Aqua Blue S that's obviously mine!!!

I had the reverse. Parks didn't even have one for me to look at, and Henrys (although they appeared not to care for my business one way or the other) finally agreed to give me a bit of cash off the Yeti, and throw in metallic paint free, but my part ex is leaking money the longer I have to wait! I must admit it was the most unpleasant car buying process I have ever gone through. I'll not be so naiive to think I can just show up and drive away in a new car 3 weeks later. I'll be starting looking 6 months in advance next time!

DDS, I've only seen 3 Yetis in the Glasgow area in 6 months. I parked next to a black S model at the Glasgow fort a week ago. And about 2 months ago on a trip to Skelmorlie, I saw a Pacific Blue yin on the Kingston Bridge and a Sliver one in Greenock, and aside from the ones in the dealerships, that's it! I'm still waiting on my Aqua Blue S from Henrys in Glasgow. Did you order from Parks in Hamilton?

It's a heck of a car for the money! Not all of us can afford an elegance unfortunately, and considering it's only a couple of grand more expensive than a mid range Seat Ibiza, I think I would hesitiate to be so down on it! I've had to scrape together enough to get an S model, but for me with a young family it's an ideal car considering it's load carrying capability.
