  1. Nice! No, they were far less accommodating! They also offered no *indication* as to when the order book for the *vRS* would reopen.
  2. Contacted Skoda UK who helpfully offered no fiance as to when order books for the Vs would reopen. I indicated that the only realistic option was to go to another manufacturer. They thanked me for my historic custom.
  3. I've just been told that due to post-dieselgate homologation work at the factory, order books for the vRS are closed and probably won't open until late November/December. I'm probably going to have to extend my current lease beyond February now :-(
  4. Cheers. Found a well recommended tyre repair guy who is hopefully coming round today. He charges the same as Kwik Fit but will come to the house :-)
  5. Does removing Airbag systems usually have a back up battery that can still trigger the system when the main battery is disconnected. Various websites advise leaving at least 30 minutes between disconnecting the battery and doing anything that might trigger the system. I'd leave it overnight and still be very careful!
  6. It's the only place open on Sunday (next time i can get to the garage) So, ignoring the fact that Kwik Fit are pants, are we agreed that it is a standard core and cap?
  7. I just phoned Kwik Fit about repairing a tyre which has a screw in it. They tell me that as i have TPMS, I'll need a special cap and core (I think that was it) I thought that the TPMS was based on the ABS sensor and therefore there was no special equipment on the tyre. Anyone confirm or deny?
  8. I have been looking at Crossclimates for a while and noticed today that they have released a Crossclimate+ which appears better in all areas except a small decrease in wet braking performance (which is presumably how they increased the milage life). Has anybody used the *new* version of the tyre?
  9. Bought a yeti on PCH recently and took out insurance with Direct Line and hadn't realised that VWFS were the owner. Called Direct Line to tell them that I needed to correct the owner to VWFS and they were fine. Changed it on the spot and no cost. Result.
  10. Cheers for all the advice. I'll use neutral and parking brake for longer waits. Maybe the yeti replacement will have Emergency auto hold so you can leave it in drive as the engine tendons off until you press the throttle.
  11. Cheers. That's what I thought - both about the auto hold on the golf and the need to use neutral on the yeti.
  12. Yes, the brake disengaged automatically. In the golf, the engine rested when the accelerator was pressed.
  13. I have a question about DSG at traffic lights or other times when you are temporarily at rest. On my Mk 7 Golf with DSG, when I stopped at lights, the Start-Stop would kick in and the electronic parking brake would go on. I could take my foot off the foot brake and the engine would remain off and the electronic parking brake would keep the car stationary with the engine off. Nice and relaxing as I didn't have to keep my foot on a brake. On the Yeti, when I stop at lights, the Start-Stop kicks in and I can apply the handbrake. Thing is that when I remove my foot from the foot brake, the engine kicks in again. When this happens, the car strains against the handbrake as the car is still in drive. So, what do other people do? At lights, do you just keep your foot on the foot brake so that the engine remains off? Isn't that a lot of leg-ache if you are there for a while? Do you put it in park? Or do you just let it strain against the parking brake when you take your foot off the foot brake?
  14. Cheers. Trying to get someone with VCDS to give me a hand and I'll give it a go.
  15. So you were able to change to Australia on a new Yeti and then go through setting the correct settings for mpg, etc?
  16. I read on another thread that it is no longer possible to set the car region to Australia which is required to get the large MPH in the maxidot. Is that correct and, if so, is there another way to achieve the same outcome?
  17. Hi - just come back to this thread. I sent a PM but it doesn't look like it got through. Can you PM me or is there a better way to contact you?
  18. Brilliant info. Thank you. I think I'll just hold the lock button for 3 seconds and leave it at that!!!! Shame about the mirror as it's very handy when parallel parking.
  19. Thanks. Someone above mentioned that you need the electric seat and led me to more research which suggests that for the mirror to do automatically so that you can see the kerb, you do indeed need the electric seat. Can anyone else confirm that and does anybody know if it is different hardware, or is it VCDS codeable?
  20. Follow up question - on my mk6 golf (similar 'brains' to the yeti), it was possible to get the passenger mirror to 'drop'when selecting reverse. I've seen it mentioned here as a setting somewhere but I can't find it on either the radio nor on the MFD. Any ideas?
  21. Is there anyone in (near) Edinburgh who would be willing to do some VCDS magic in return for some beer money? Domhnhall - you still about?
  22. Thanks guys - that was the conclusion that I came to also but wondered if I had missed something.
  23. Hi Just picked up my 1.2 DSG Yeti today and absolutely loving it. One question (and I've checked the manual and tried to search for this) - I can retract the wing mirrors by holding down the lock button but is there a way to automatically food the mirrors on locking without having to hold the lock button for 3 seconds?
  24. I thought that if read that, if you have the correct hardware on the car, it can be activated by someone with a vcds cable for free (or for the cost of some beer money for their time). Anyone confirm that?
