  1. haynes manual is good. i did mine last and it tells you to hand tighten the new oil filer. getting off a little harder. plastic covers are easier to get off than on.
  2. to check your anti roll bar links. you can put full lock on and if the arbl moves ie twists quite easy in your hand theyre ready. have you checked track rods? again this can be checked by hand. if they twist may need a change. cheapest part to go is roll bar bushes. the wish bones also could be a problem with rubber bushes.
  3. i've bought my missus a vrs. and i'm doiing it up. i'm learnig. but if you pull the lever on the opp side bonnet opens. the catcht under bonnet needs spraying., evenmore when its open just to make sure it opens.
  4. no car eats them. i had 21 mm bushes with packers on mine for 2 years. started getting a knocking and changed bushes, then changed anti roll link bars. then changed wishbones, still nocking. go to skoda because i was told 21mm by a parts specialst to find its 19 mm from skoda dealers. so ask skoda first and find a cheaper supplier.
  5. can you not switch ignition on. while your inside, press button on door to lock. and work from key in ignition. dont think you need to start car.
  6. just pull bonnet catch in car and spray wd40 under bonnet were catch is.wiggle catch. keep trying.
  7. Skoda Remote Control Programming (1997 ON) 1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition. 2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key. 3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn will sound once. 4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding procedure. The remote control will now be programmed. NOTE : When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure is the same, except you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the different remote. For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes. 5. Switch Ignition OFF. 6. Remove key from ignition and check for operation. 7. The coding procedure can be repeated up to 4 times for additional remotes. 8. The ignition must be switched OFF between programming each remote control. Remote Control Erasing (1997 ON) 1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition. 2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key. 3. Press the remote control unlock button 5 times in 1 second intervals. A short horn will sound. 4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate memory erase. 5. Switch ignition OFF, all remotes are now erased.
  8. if you have the money to do both front and back. do the back first as i think they are cheaper and very easy to change. if this doesnt solve the prob. then ok you spent a bit but you know the back is grand. not tried to change front myself yet. it is only wise to change left and right on front or back at same time, not front and back at same time.
  9. might not help, but my mate had a rover and some doors would lock and some close. he googled about the key fob and it told him something like press open 5 times close 7 times open 6 times and all was good. dont hate me if you cant find anything about resetting key fob.
  10. take a look at my post to toby. its a break spring that skoda should know about. toby posted about breaks too
