  1. Excellent. Just purchased it and saved €160. Any thing to watch out for when fitting? Thanks.
  2. Hi all My oil cooler started leaking last week. I noticed oil on my coolant so after some detective work I have it narrowed down to the cooler. I have it bypassed at the moment and this has stopped the oil mixing with the coolant. Bypassing the cooler is probably not a good idea in the long term so I am going to fit a new one. It turns out the the cooler for the AWX engine is not easy get from a motor factors. I have contacted a good number of them and thay all say its an OEM part. The problem is that Skoda ireland are charging €270 for it. I have searched for the cooler online and they can be purchased for about £120 in the UK but none of the sites will ship to Ireland. I am looking for a contact who can supply a cooler ?
  3. Hi I have a 2006 superb 1.9tdi 130bhp AWX that will not rev above 2000 rpm. When at 2000rpm its misfiring and producing clouds of white and grey smoke. When idling its fine. There was one error code on the Vag Com - 19464 - camshaft position sensor (G40) signal out of range. The error code never appeared again after I cleared it. This problem only appeared after I push started the car. I travelled about 20 miles first thing in the morning to go shopping and I left the lights on while parked .When I returned there was not enough in the battery to start the car so a couple of people helped me push start the car and then this happened. I dont know if its a total coincidence. Its like the turbo has given up but its the serious misfire that causing me the issue. Another issue may be the flywheel. The engine was vibrating more that normal and sometime tricky to get into first gear prior to this problem. I think that the DMF was on the way out. I am looking for some ideas before I start replacing the turbo/DMF/Injector wiring loom.
  4. After much searching and testing with VAG-COM I discovered what was wrong with the new turbo. The vane travel stop was loose and had reduced the travel of the vanes so they were open to far for the lower revs. I adjusted the stop and hey presto that car has its power back again.
  5. Forgot to mention I fitted a decat pipe while I was doing the Turbo job. Will this make a difference ???
  6. Hi all. Fitted a new turbo to my Superb 1.9tdi AWX 130 and its down on power compared to the previous turbo before it let go. The car preforms like a 110 bhp and its very lacking below 2000rpm. The VAG COM isnt showing any errors. Its very like the MAF on the way out but when I plugged out the MAF and it was worse. The turbo vane actuator moves the full amount when the engine is stopped.Checked all the vacuum pipes for leaks and the EGR valve, inlet manifold and intake pipes were cleaned about 3 weeks ago. Any ideas anyone.
  7. Nearly solved. Still had crankcase over pressure due to blocked CCV valve which caused smoke to blow from exhaust during idle. The CCV which couldnt be accessed so got a second hand cover and problem nw sorted.
  8. Had a lot of searching to do to sort this one. The ccv was blocked. Could not get at it because its a part of the valve cover and all glued together. When I ran the engine for a short while with the oil filler cap removed and a gauze taped to the engine cover to stop shlashing, the smoke from the turbo stopped and I had no crankcase over pressure.By the way the turbo is new not a refurb. I got a second hand valve cover with a working ccv valve and problem solved. The over pressure also caused my front crankshaft seal to leak so I had to change it. Did any one ever hear of this problem before. Engine code AWX
  9. Another problem with the turbo. Fitted the new turbo and now there is loads of blue smoke on idle. This is usually not a problem after changing a turbo but its not improving after 100miles. I removed the exhaust at the turbo and with the engine idling there is oil dripping out. Am I unlucky enough to have got a dud turbo. The supplier has said that he will change it but cant understand what happened. I have another topic about very high crankcase pressure on the same car so do I have a bigger problem ?
  10. Hi I am wondering how much pressure should be in the crankcase of a 1.9tdi AWX engine. I have alot of pressure when I remove the oil cap, much more than the normal blow. If I remove the pipe that connects the CCV valve on the top cover very little comes out of it.I have removed the top rocker cover but its a sealed unit and access to the valve is impossible.I am getting some blue smoke on tickover for a few minutes before it clears up. ( New turbo fitted 2 weeks ago ) so its not that. I read on another fourm that if the catalytic converter is partially blocked it will cause over pressure in the crankcase. Has any heard of this problem before?
  11. Agreed. With the engine ticking over how much of a blow should be coming out of the rocker cover vent?
  12. Hi guys. I checked the pipes going to the air box, could only see one 6mm pipe.Followed it along the bulkhead but it is not cracked or disconnected. So seeing as I was at the air box, I removed it completly and disconnected the air mass meter to get it out. I also disconnected the exhaust at the turbo so I had no exhaust and a straight inlet pipe into the inlet side. I brought the car for a drive but the surging / jumpy hesitation while slowing is still happening. Its exactly like lightly tapping the throttle while slowing down. I noticed with the exhaust off I could clearly hear the turbo speed increase every time this surge happened. So it looks like I am burning oil or diesel, can the accelerator give signals to the ecu without VAG COM seeing it ?I checked this out but injection quantity and throttle are 0% when slowing down in gear. I removed the pipe that fits into the EGR and its coated with a film of oil only after 200miles after cleaning it.Is this normal after such a short time The one question I cant get a clear answer for it how much of a blow should be coming out of the vent pipe on top of the rocker cover.I have very little. If I can get an answer for that I can sort out the crankcase pressure if thats the problem.
