  1. The Fabia VRS I have just acquired used to be a smokers car. The steering wheel in particular was very shiny and a little sticky- not pleasant at all. I found the following article and thought if it's good enough for this chap's E46, it's good enough for my Fabia: Steering Wheel cleaning guide Whilst obviously not something you would do on a regular basis due to the abrasion, for a one off clean it worked wonders on my wheel- I could literally find where I had missed by just sliding my hands around the wheel a bit like the difference between sanded and varnished wood. I hope this prove useful to others, DC
  2. I just fitted a Sony single din HU yesterday- what really helped was removing the cubby immediately below it. With that out you can reach underneath the HU and help the cables find a home- worked for me anyway!
  3. I found and drove home in my VRS yesterday after a few months of browsing and then looking for cars. Mine is a 55 plate in Black Magic, and I was surprised to find it has cruise control apparently as a factory option (is this possible on an '05?). Only foibles are the rear discs and all pads need changing (but this was factored into the price) and the car was owned by a smoker so an appointment with Fabreze is needed (any tips on if this is OK for the 2 tone seats?). I've already fitted a Sony bluetooth headunit and added a cup holder and the elegance drawer.. not sure why, just wanted them Plans are to fit a Jabba ARB (Whiteline can't supply soon enough for a driving adventure I have planned)and uprate the pads to EBC greenstuff (again, I'm open to alternatives- Ferrodo?). Once I'm used to the performance (and that will take quite some time) then a remap may also be in the offing. I LOVE the car.
  4. Hello all, I'm new to the forums, currently planning to use the site to research the foibles and idiosyncrasies of mk1 Fabia VRS ownership- who knows, maybe buy one here too I'm a huge car nut, consuming as much motoring media as I can find, but counterintuitively, being almost 30, am still knocking about in a standard '01 Fiesta (which is actually very chuckable but not really a car to love). I was torn between a mint mk2 MX5 or a Fabia- the combination of torque, economy and practicality has finally led me to committing, mentally at least, to a VRS. I will scratch the RWD itch in due course I will try not to ask too many dumb questions. Thanks in advance, DC
