  1. Yeah, maybe. It got the rear console bushes replaced a month ago, and springs changed last week after one broke. The anti roll bars could probably do with being changed.
  2. Standard 16", standard suspension. For a car that rides so high, I can't understand why it's so crashy.
  3. How much should I be asking for? 2006/56 Black VRS, 57k, FSH, cambelt done at 50k. Good all round condition?
  4. Yeah it's pretty much just the crashy suspension that is my only gripe. If I was to pick a small petrol engine and lose all credibilty, then I'd have to go for total reliability with something jap, so I don't think I'd have a non vrs fabia, or anything else VAG for that matter. Has anyone driven a Fiesta zetec s 1.6 TDCI? I think it has 90bhp, I wonder how that would feel compared to the VRS. After my original post I drove the car home and gave it a good thrashing over the Tay bridge and it made me want to keep the VRS
  5. I did think about a micra, one of the most reliable cars going. I know I said a fiesta or a yaris, but I don't think I could handle driving a micra
  6. After a year of pleasant ownership of my black, 56 plate Fabia VRS, it's time to part ways. I've been working a lot delivering curries at night and I seem to spend most of my time crashing over potholes and speedbumbs around housing schemes rather than boosting around nice flat roads for 'pleasure driving' like I used to. Everytime the car hits a bump I can feel myself wanting to grit my teeth. I think I'm gonna get either a 1.3 yaris, or a fiesta zetec 1.6 tdci. I drive a fiesta van at work and the suspension is a lot more forgiving than the fabia. That's the only fault I have with the car, other than that, it's been a great car and will be for someone else to enjoy. Will certainly miss the power & the mufflerectomy. Thanks to everyone who has answered my posts over the year, you have been a big help. Garnier81
  7. I got the genuine, new, Heiko ones from ebay recently and was not impressed. No clips in the box, the deflectors were lined with sticky tape which had been stuck to the wrong side (the inside, so that when the window is up it would make contact with the sticky strip, argh, which I had to peel off and then use superglue to hold them in place. Even then, the anti-jam mech on the window causes the window to come back down again unless you edge it up near the top a bit at a time. I'm trying to get some clips but can't find them. I also had to file away at the edges to make the closure a bit smoother as the window clunked badly over the plastic edges. Not impressed. I had climair ones on my previous car (03 passat) and they were a perfect fit with no-issues, top quality. Expensive though at nearly £50, but worth it. I wish I'd got them for the VRS. Pity some bu**er stole them.
  8. I wouldn't buy anything reconditioned from a seller I didn't know or had no reputation to speak of. I once bought a recon gearbox for my polo gti, £400 or something and when it arrived it was just an old box that had been sprayed silver. Still whined like a bitch. Once burnt, twice shy
  9. Thanks, that's put my mind at rest for a few days.
  10. What I should have asked is do they fail completely leaving the car undrivable. To hell with it anyway, it'll be out with the WD40 and pedal to the metal until I can get to the garage
  11. My console bushes have been clunking for a while, now started squeaking. Going into get fixed Tuesday, only problem is I have two shifts delivering curry before then. Will they hold out and what will happen if the bushes go? Eek
  12. Bravarius 2 are a greayt tyre, mine had them on when I bought it and I would buy then again.
  13. The only fault beforehand was the abs sensor fault. The car had new console bushes & abs sensor fitted and after that it all went pear shaped. Ive reset all the fault codes but they appear again after a few mins driving. Can bus fault maybe, I will suggest he checks all the wiring. Thanks for the advice
  14. Mates got a 1.2 2006 fabia thats turned into a monster job. It had the abs sensor changed due to abs fault, bit after fitting, vagcom is throwing up tons or errors: abs sensor impluasible signal (still) Abs control unit no signal intermiittent Engine control module no signal intermitent The speedo also stopped working, power steering light off and on and petrol gauge off and on even with half tank. Its also going into limp mode & idling like a dog. My mate is at his wits end, could the ecu be knackered?
  15. I've done a fair bit of research and it looks like the Skoda route to get front console front bushes done is to buy a skoda console unit with bushes intach at a cost of £80 plus vat per side. Otherwise, remove the old front console bush and replace with either superpro/powerflex/cupra etc.
  16. I've just checked the Skoda shop for this part and it has listed, Front Suspension Bottom Arm Rear Bushes 1K0407183E £9.68. Does such a part exist for the front bushes, or do I need to go superpro/powerflex/cupra route?
  17. Thanks a lot Bill, I shall get right back to skoda.
  18. I was just up at local Dundee Skoda trying to get a set of console bushes. The guy whipped a couple of rear console bushes off the shelf and said they slide in, but the front bushes only come as part of a new console unit? Is this true or should I just bite the bullet and a superpro set. Was trying to keep cost low.
  19. Got a price of 150 approx for a superpro front bush kit. Does anyone have a rough idea how much an OEM X kit costs?
  20. My freind has a 1.4 Fabia 2006 with the ABS light on. The wheel bearing has been changed recently, as has the ABS sensor as VAGCOM said it was an ABS sensor fault. However, the light still stays on and the ABS can be felt pumping erraticaly when pressing the brake. VAGCOM gives an error, ABS sensor, drivers side front, implausible signal. The sensor has been checked and is receiving a signal and the wiring loom is also undamaged. Any ideas what it could be, anyone?
  21. Remap question, when you get a remap, does the car lose it's massive lump of torque at low revs? Iv been offered an angel remap for £175 as part of a bulk deal with four cars, seriously considering it....
  22. Love the wheels. How can anyone not like ronal turbo's!!! I'd have them in a minute!
  23. looks good, especially the splitter. My only worry would be that the colours of the stickers will fade pretty quickly, ie. maybe of the course of one sunny summer. Did the paint shop give you any guidance/indication on this?
  24. I'm looking at buying a fabia superpro kit from ebay, £150. It contains: 1 x front control arm, inner front bush kit 1x front control arm, inner rear bush kit (standard alignment). Seems expensive for only two sets of bushes, am I missing something?
