  1. Hi, Water in the boot is almost certainly the rear washer pipe off either at the wiper motor or in the l/h side of the boot behind the trim. Knocking could be exhaust on chassis or a bush on the way out. No idea about cd.
  2. Hi, Just had a similar problem with my 1.9tdi octavia although not with as many problems and the engine did not run on. The problem was caused by the rear washer hose blowing of its coupling in the left hand side of the boot. This connection is directlly above a load of electrical connections and a main earth. My guess is that you may find your spare wheel well full of water/washer fluid or it may be draining to the floor depending on the way yuor car is parked on a slope. Access to the pipe is by removing the lhs rear seat side rest/ remove the bag holder in the boot and then carfully pull out the trim. push the water pipe back on and secure with very small cable ties. dry out the electrics and put it all back together. Modern electronics hate water and will play havoc with the ecu with a milli-volt fault. Cheers
  3. Decided to tackle the stiff handbrake on my Octavia2 Elegance today after a near fail for MOT. Boy what a nightmare! As posted on this site previously I narrowed the cause down to the corrugated rubber sliding thingy around the handbrake lever, I am amazed that this small piece of rubber could cause so much hassle. 6 hours later it is back together and ok. I guess now I know where all the stupid liitle hidden screws are it would maybe take 2 hours. If anyone wants more info on the procedure post me before I forget how i did it! As I am new to the forum can someone point me in the direction for an alternator belt change (i.e is access via the wheel arch and is it a simple case of relieving the tension on the automatic tensioner. Also does anyone have acces to set my service interval indicator to variable as I serviced it yesterday and used 507.00 rock oil as usual. Thanks
  4. I have used the site in the past as a non member and found it very useful so thought it time i joined. I have a 54 plate octy 2 1.9tdi elegance with 93 k all from new. As I do my own servicing now I was wondering if there is anyone in the S****horpe area who could set the variable service indicator for me as I use rock oil 507.00 (will pay of course). This car has been super reliable giving 60 mpg (30 when towing 5-berth van to race mtgs). All it has had are pads/discs/tyres and a battery. I also had the common problem of the rear wash pipe blowing off in the rear quarter, soaking the electrics, and bringing the high level brake light on along with causing a faulty alarm and not turning the bluetooth parrot off. All sorted once dried out. How I wish I could have found the fault on this site it would have saved me hours. One quick question. After servicing yesterday I noticed the alternator belt `fretting` on idle and chattering slightly. Got a new belt from tps, anything to look out for!! Cheers for now.
