  1. I picked up my one on Wednesday and have just done 1000km and I'm very very impressed so far. Its the wifes car but I've been doing the driving and it really does feel like a big luxury motor. Only complaint so so far is that it does not have electric memory seats .. we went with this style model (top level in Ireland) and previous top level skodas I have bought came with electric memory seats .. so it was my fault I didn't spec it but really disappointed it wasn't standard. Other than that the DSG box is as good as I remember from my GTI back in the day, park assist is great and easy to use just like my superb. The whole skoda connect and infotainment system (columbus) will take a bit of learning.
  2. The dealer was talking to my wife and said he was expecting the car on friday evening .. not sure if it arrived.
  3. just got a message to say mine is due in to the docks today; kinda unexpected .. i'd ordered it first week in April and after radio silence for a good while I was resigned to getting it in and around october. Hoping it won't take more than a week as we are due to go on a nice road trip next thursday for a week and it would be nice to give it a good run out. 7 Seater, 2.0TDI 150ps, 2wd, Business Grey with black leather. (Located in Ireland btw)
  4. I ordered the wife's one in week 1 march and didn't think much of chasing it up as we weren't in too much of a hurry; Initially was told around the middle of June ... checked with the dealer on friday and by the sounds of his email it looks as if he hasn't even a build date yet .. said he would get back to me today with more details. Located in ireland
  5. ordered one for wife this week 150bhp TDI - 2wd - DSG - 7 Seater - Quartz Grey - Style Just added on the retractible tow bar, full leather and park assist. Been told to expect it in June - haven't gotten the build week yet. The only decision really to make was 2wd or 4wd - she has been driving a 4x4 Octavia Combi for the last couple of year and the 4x4 has been nothing more than a waste of fuel. really looking forward to getting this now .. will compliment my 2011 Superb Combi on the drive - the superb is just approaching 300,000km on the clock
  6. I had the problem a few weeks ago .. but it seems to have corrected itself. Mind you the main problem with this is that I am 5' 10" and the misses is about 4" 8" .... many a time I have taken her key by accident and gotten in to the car and within seconds the seats have me stuck to the windscreen .. have given a few people a laugh in random carparks !!
  7. it was done by hand alright, I don't really trust the MDI. I had just over a quarter of a tank left on arrival. To add to the mix, yesterday I did a bit of touring and drove about 300km on back roads, dual carriageways (no motorways) and the MDI figure showed an economy figure of 4.5l/10km (63mpg) .. while I know this isn't accurate it was based on driving in and around 90km/h (55mph or so).
  8. I've just completed the first 'real' trip in my new Greenline Combi, from Dublin down the west cost of France via Roscoff. A total of 980km (612 miles), the trip was a mix of everything from 80mph+ cruising on motorways, back roads, urban driving and a horrendous 10 mile french tailback on a motorway. By a brim to brim calculation I achieved a consumption of just over 5l/100km (56.5mpg), considering the vast bulk of this driving was at about 145km/h (90mph) with three people and a full boot I was quite amazed. The comfort factor was another thing altogether, after the guts of 4 years of driving a MKV GTI and doing similar road trips I was almost shocked at the difference. The GTI was in hindsight a very uncomfortable car for long drives. So the savings on fuel will pay for an extra beer of two while over here.
  9. I actually have an old 2GB SD card and I threw four folders on to it and it picked it up right away !!!
  10. I am at my wits end. I have a 6 week old Superb with the columbus unit and to date I still can not get any tunes to be read. I wasn't too pushed streaming from the iphone up to now but next week I am heading to the south of france and will need as much music as possible. To date what I have done to no avail is: Converted my itunes library on my OSX Machine to all MP3 files (what a pain in the nuts that was) Transferred 15GB in 420 folders to my 16gb Kingston SDHC Card Columbus never even blinked when this was installed, as if nothing was there. I then decided that I should re-format the card to FAT32 on my HP Notebook and transferred the files back again. Still nada, nothing on the columbus. I then re-arranged the 420 folders in to 4 header folders and the rest as sub folders. Still nothing. Am I barking up the wrong tree or just missing something simple ???? Help ..please
  11. My Greenline Combi Elegance (only options Hill Hold & TPM, Spare Wheel) ordered in January and took exactly 10 weeks from order to PDI. I'm Dublin based.
  12. I got my combi in Russo Brunello as well .. after years of having black and silver cars I decided something different this time around. I never got to see a combi in RB in the flesh but ordered it. When I was going to the dealer to pick the car up I must admit I got nervous thinking i made a mistake, but when I saw it there shiny and new on the forecourt I knew I made the right decision !!!
  13. I had a MKV Golf GTI for over three years with the Flappy Paddles and after the first few times very rarely used them .. except when alone in the car and having a bit of fun .... they are nice but in reality 99% of the time you won't even consider using them.
  14. My Combi was ordered in January and I got a 10 week lead time from the dealer in Dublin, which was bang-on.
  15. I am a week and a half in to my ownership of a Greenline Combi (elegance) and I would echo the sentiments above. However, I am coming from a MKV Golf GTI and the difference between 200bhp and 105bhp was my biggest concern, so far I am not too dissapointed. I have come to the realisation that I only used the power because I had it not because I needed it. The golf served a purpose as a fun pocket rocket but now the superb is serving the requirment of a super efficient family wagon and dog carrier !! I will be buying something silly later in the year for the weekends (boxter or JCW Mini) .. but as an economic comfy cruiser the Skoda will do me for the moment.
  16. I have two very simple questions (I hope) with the colombus head unit .. how do I stop the very loud 'bong' when it disconnects from my phone ... I have looked through all it's menus and can't find anything obvious !! arriving home late the other evening, my missus didn't hear the car arriving outside the door but did hear the 'bong'. Also, as we both drive the car, how do I determine which phone the Colombus connects to? She has a blackberry and mine is an iphone, at the moment it automatically connect to mine ... can it be linked to the key (like with the memory seat settings?) Other than that, 10 days and 800 miles and more and more impressed as I go along. Mind you, in one day managed to have some clown scuff the paint on the front bumper in a car park and a 'For Sale' sign fall on the bonnet giving a good scuffing. 10 mins in my local 'detailer' and back to new !!!
  17. I got a 1 hour hand over from the dealer last week too, it is obviously something SKODA driven, as anyother time I picked up a new car is was a case of hand over payment, get keys and shake hand .... 500km over a week and I am just more and more impressed with my Combi ... apart from some pr1ck deciding to leave some of his paint on my front bumper a car park in ballymount .. didn't take any of my paint but will need to be carefully polished out .. didn't even see the culprit
  18. looking for some help here, I have just gotten one of these Kingston SDHC 16GB cards SD6G2/16GB I have put about 10GB of mp3s on it and the Columbus unit does not seem to recognize it, i only have the car a few days, built about 3 weeks ago, so assuming latest firmware. is this card compatible?
  19. The Lab? hasn't a clue what to be doing with all the space !!! i'll have to sort out the luggage guards to make a living room, and bedroom area for him in the boot !!!
  20. Well, finally after a 10 week wait I took delivery of my new Superb. Elegance Combi Greenline 1.6CR Rosso Brunello Options - TPI & Hill hold, Sparewheel I must say I am very impressed with the whole thing. My previous car was a MKV Golf GTI DSG which I have had for three years from new. I loved that car, it had everything i needed at the time including excellent performace, but now things have changed, 2 year old daughter and 3 year old black labrador, moving to house in the country. After looking at estates from the Volvo V70, Insignia, Passat, Mondeo etc .. I landed in the new Pilsen dealership in Dublin after christmas and was blown away by the price and spec of the Superb. After patiently waiting 10 weeks I drove out of the dealer yesterday evening a happy man. I had a couple of concerns, mainly the engine choice and the colour! I wanted something different colourwise and choose the Rosso Brunello and must admit having doubts over the last week, but when I saw it in the delivery bay yesterday I knew I picked the right colour for me. My iPhone 3gs connected first time in about 10 seconds, perfect sound and simple to use, the SAT NAV is simple to use and the maps actually have my street on it, my TomTom maps on the iphone still does not. I haven't had a chance to sit down and read the manual properly yet so I will figure out how to stop that loud bong when it connects to the phone and disconnects! The engine on the other hand, moving from a 200bhp pocket rocket to a 105bhp barge take a bit of getting used to. Over the first 100km of rural, motorway and urban driving I have found it more than adquate. I find it needs a bit of working through the gears but with a bit of experience I think I will find its sweet spots. Oh ... and it sips juice, I reckon based on my typical motoring I will be saving about €250 per month between tax and fuel costs immediatly. That is a considerable saving over three or fours years of ownership ! In my office two lads have just taken delivery of 520d and they are very impressed by the skoda .. and can't believe the price point. I will admit to being a badge snob up until recently and that is firmly in the past, even my father in law got thinking, he is due to change his A5 soon, and had been looking at A6 / A7 4x4 .. he now is looking for a test drive in the superb 4x4 (or even the scout) .... I will keep you posted on my thoughts on it and obviously bombard with questions on bits and pieces ...
  21. just picked up my Greenline Combi and only delighted .... I was a little worried about the choice of colour (Rosso Brunello) but it looks great. Pity I have to go back to office to pay for it for the rest of the day !!
  22. in fairness my GTI (had at the trip computer set to MPG) with a full tank would say 300 miles and as soon as you start driving (mainly urban) that quickly dropped to about 250miles :| The best average I got from it was a drive from Hollyhead to Cornwall last su The 2.7TDI A5 I am driving at the moment is showing 7.7L/100km ... not bad for a motorway muncher
  23. in ireland it's little numbers we want to see (L/100km) .. and I still use MPG when trying to compare !!!
  24. by this time tomorrow I will have my own ... but the only experience I have is on a couple of test drives. It isn't a quick car .. but able enough, I had no issues with it either around town or on the motorway .. I have just sold my MKV GTI to be replaced by this, so the drop in power is significent, but I can live with it. With regards to size ... I wouldn't worry, coming from an old barge like the e-class shouldn't be a problem, especially with parking sensors.
  25. picking mine up at 3pm tomorrow .. just got the call!! dealer's quoted delivery date of 10 weeks at time of order was bang on .. so looking forward to a nice family weekend again !!! but ...saying good bye to the A5 is going to be painful ... :S
