  1. Interesting post and part. Any ideas if it will fit on a 2011 Scout with 1.8TSI? Thanks
  2. Thanks for the advice. Just got back and seen it in the flesh for the first time. Its awful but not as bad as I'd made it up to be in my mind... Police weren't interested, said I can sue the guy (typical Greek attitude...) Anyway will see what the insurance says tomorrow.
  3. Well, haven't posted in ages on here, but finally got the Scout in Feb and had a great 5 months ownership so far. I'm away on holiday in Austria, having a great time, seen a load of Skodas and quite a few Scouts (50/50 between Diesel and Petrol). BUT I got a horrible call on wednesday morning, a muppet in a lorry, which was delivering milk products to the corner shop forgot to close the rear door properly. He drove past my daily, door swung open and hit the rear of the car. He stopped, closed the door and drove off!!! :o Well anyway, my neighbour saw him, got the details from the corner shop and I got the insurance lawyers (legal protection, phew!!!) involved. The question is, I've been sent the pictures and it looks pretty bad. Any opinions? Looks like the rear pillar will have to be replaced? Is it possible? Don't fancy a car full of bondo... its only 5 months old :-[. Do any Greek member know of any good bodyshops (insurance and Skoda approved preferably) in Athens, Greece? Anyway, here are the photos: Thanks a million Tony
  4. Yeah, it took me a while to adapt to the driving after 10 years in the UK. Well it looks like I'll be visiting my friendly Skoda dealer for a couple test drives early next week. Thinking about trying the 1.2TSI (which was my original selection before I laid eyes on the Scout ) and the Scout.
  5. Well that doesnt sound too scary. Looks like I'm gonna have to check the finance offers then
  6. Thats right... supposed pollution management... they reckon an unserviced diesel can be dangerous due to microparticle emissions. As for the odd and even system, it just means most greek families have two cars (usually some small "cheap" thing as a second car) and the government makes more money :wonder: Anyway, it doesn't seem to be too thirsty. If I wanted to go for something with great economy I'd most probably go for the 1.2TSI estate... but 4x4 and raised suspension are pretty useful. And the Scout looks cool
  7. Thanks Monnae, that doesnt sound too bad. Had a Yeti driver with the 1.8TSi tell me he was averaging 10-12 l/100km on the weekend.
  8. Hello everyone, looks like a friendly place. I am thinking about getting an Octavia Scout as it'll be perfect for my needs (I snowboard, windsurf, etc...) and the horrible roads in Greece. Skoda give a fuel consumption for the 1.8TSI ( Diesel aint allowed in Athens so I have to go for the Petrol model) of 10.2, 6.4 and average 7.8 l/100 (23, 36 and 30mpg). What I'm wondering is what is the actual fuel consumption? Anyone here with a 1.8TSI who can inform me? Thanks Tony
