  1. Hi folks, I'm getting a notification from the infotainment that there is a shop update. The system says update in progress. But never finishes! I can't access the shop as it says I have an outdated software version. System version is 1941. Any ideas on how to get the update to complete? Thanks in advance, Rich
  2. Yesterday, 11th April 2023, I had the system update message. I selected download and update then parked the car overnight. Update text says thats OK. This morning on my first journey I noticed that the Satnav had me driving by some Oasis! The randomly in fields near the actual roads I'm on. Skoda vRS November 2022 build. I cant see the software version! Can anyone help? Thanks
  3. Afternoon all. I have a quick question. In July 2022 all car manufacturers in the EU were required to install some form of intelligent Speed Limiter into new builds. In Feb of this year I took delivery of my new Octavia vRS which was built after that date (October the build was commenced apparently) yet I can't find any mention of an Intelligent Speed Limiter. Does anyone know if Skoda fitted this system and if so, where would I find it. Rich
  4. Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this question, though it is linked to the delivery of my new Octavia vRS. I've received an email from a company and the email address is activate247.com. It's asking me to activate my Driverline service. Can anyone confirm if this is genuine? It says on the email that they're a formally appointed agent for Skoda. With all the scams doing the rounds I'm dubious about things like this. Cheers, Rich
  5. Was that via the app or the Web app? Neither of my android devices will log on via the android app, but my tablet logged on via the actual website without a problem.
  6. The connect app updated last night and now I can't log in on any device. Is anyone else having issues logging on?
  7. Ah, now here is a thing - yes you can, not with Skoda Connect only though, you need the key or the scanners thieves use to start it. But you can drive without the key. But it causes problems when you stop and turn off the engine - see below!!!!!!! You can start the car as long as the signal from the key reaches the sensors and they think the key is inside - hence how those little a**holes that nick cars with scanners do it. Once the car is stopped and the engine is turned off, they can't be restarted again though. Also, you can start the car, take the key away from the car and still drive it. Used to happen to me and my oppo at work all the time (Motorway Coppers in BMW's). We used to swap over driving half way through the shift but the person that started sometimes kept the keys. On a few occasions I've either been dropped off at base with the keys or dropped my oppo off with the keys and then gone to fuel up at the petrol station - then oooops, a very embarrassed traffic copper with an expensive BMW 330, 530 or X5 on the garage forecourt waiting for the oppo to bring the keys!!!!!!!
  8. I took delivery of my petrol vRS yesterday. November 2021 it was ordered! The guy who delivered it is also a leasing company in his own right, he's taken to delivering cars as he can't buy enough new vehicles to lease, he said its a 2 year wait for range rovers! With regards the iV sales, I spoke to the salesman (who I trust and have had 5 vRS' off) and his intel was that Skoda dealers have been told to stop taking iV orders as they can't be fulfilled at the moment. Now, this intel was back in November when I had the MOT done on my last vRS so I don't know how vaild it is. But, there was an article in the press a week or so ago saying that of the VAG manufacturers, Skoda had seen a marked decrease in deliveries over the last year, only SEAT (not including Cupra) were worse. I'm guessing that Audi/VW are getting the pick of components at the expense of the 'budget' brands! This happened a number of years ago with engines, before the diesel scandal.
  9. Hi folks, I've just taken delivery of my 6th Octavia vRS - yes, I'm a boring old fart.....lol. Does anyone know if there is a facility for the MySkoda app to send a notification to my phone if the car is unlocked between certain times? If not, is it because the app needs to refresh the status everytime it opens etc? If this isn't a thing, I wonder if Skoda could implement it. What with all the keyless car thefts taking place around the UK. I have already taken as many precautions as possible, faraday pouches for keys, using the key to lock the car then touching the sensor to 'double' lock it overnight etc. But one still worries a little. I know I could deactivate keyless entry, but at present I don't want to deactivate it totally. Cheers, Rich
  10. Jim, am I right in assuming that when you did the motorway trip, the car was running on ICE only? So effectively a 1.4TSI motor or did the battery continue to boost to 245 for the whole journey? Plus, on battery only, is the power output 115bhp? Cheers.
  11. Hi folks, I've asked this in my own thread but was pointed in the direction of this. I'm about to lease a new vRS, well, place an order nearly 12 months before I actually need it! I currently have a petrol vRS and love it. I am torn this time though. iV or Petrol. I'm retired, live rural and would mostly use the electric motor for the 12 or 13 mile round trip to the shops. However, I do quite often do longer drives including long motorway drives up to north of the border. How does this car perform on longer motorway drives with little chance of regenerative braking? I travel when I know the traffic should be light so hardly ever slow down. Would I end up driving a 1.4TSI instead of a 245 vRS in those circumstances? Cheers, Rich
  12. John, yeah, I'm aware of the huge timescales which is why I'm placing an order 12 months out from when I need it. I'm going via who I normally lease from, which is Skoda themselves rather than via a 3rd party broker. I also assume that unless the car is in sport mode, the pure electric engine is only producing 115bhp? Is that correct? Cheers.
  13. Folks, I suspect this has been asked before but I can't seem to find an answer using the search feature of the site. So I apologise if you've seen and answered this before. I currently have a petrol vRS which is due to be replaced next year (lead times and all that). I've got quotes for both the petrol and the iV version of the car. I'm aware that the iV is higher (15mm) and not quite as 'sporty' as the petrol, but as I get older that isn't a major issue!!!!! What about the iV range on longer roads? I live in a rural area and do mostly shorter trips, 6 or 7 miles each way to the shops etc and I will be able to have a charging point on my home, so much of the time it'll be running in electric mode. But, I do travel on the motorway a few times per year and quite a few of my rural trips are on longer straighter roads with less opportunities for regenerative braking. Does the iV run out of electricity on a longer motorway run when using it in conjunction with the ICE? I head up to the Lakes and Scotland and once north of Manchester, i hardly ever have to slow as I travel when the traffic is most likely to be light. I'm really torn between another 4 years of petrol or 4 years of PHEV then switching to hopefully cheaper EV when my next lease is due up. I don't do major miles either, being retired! Many thanks in advance, Rich
  14. Folks, I have a question regarding navigation and the virtual cockpit. I have a new (19) Octavia with Bolero system and Virtual Cockpit. I like to use Android auto when driving and also like Waze. I've not done any journeys that require SatNav yet, but I did a test. I set the in car Skoda to a destination and set the navigation to displaying the cockpit. I set the same destination in Waze and had that display on the Bolero head unit. The in car navigation stopped displaying on the cockpit and displayed the words, android auto navigation active, or something to that effect. Is there a way of using both at the same time or a way of displaying Waze on the dash? Cheers, Rich
