  1. Ziex ZE-914 Ecorun - Falcon: pretty good all rounders and they have lasted me lots of miles so far.... suprised when I realised they were fitted 13/09/2013! still got 3-4mm on them - Fronts!!
  2. From the album: Carbon Grille

My first attempt at DIY carbon wrapping my Grille. My DIY paint job flaked off as chrome is an absolute ****** to get off and paint over!! bleach works well but takes a good week. Eyebrows next! Badge is from eBay and I think it looks awesome.

  4. Looks easy enough? the DIY wires part? I would be very wary of attempting a job like that with no pics :-/
  5. Is it any good? have you experienced any turbo lag? Sounds perfect for me as I really miss my MR2 Turbo MK2 and my Subaru Impreza. Dump valve noise is so addictive!
  6. Thought I'd do a quick write up of how to repaint the front grille. Getting it off the car is the easy part just use an empty 6mm socket for the plastic clips and a hex bit for the screws - mind the washers dont fall into the engine bay! Removing the chrome from the plastic takes a lot of patience but it is possible - start with the under side and a screwdriver. (don't attempt if very cold - plastic snaps easily when cold) Once the bottom edge is free, move around to the sides of the grille Then move to the badge surround using a smaller screwdriver and gently pull apart pushing on the back of the badge with your thumb Then move to the bottom edge of the top of the grill and do the same pushing the chrome away through the gaps Now seperate the two! mask up or remove the badge if swapping the badge over at the same time (didn't swap mine yet) then scratch up the chrome finish with some fine glass paper (I used 240 grit) then spray up with lots of thin layers of plastic primer (grey) Smooth out after lots of layers with some very fine glass paper. Hit it with some matching paint (race blue courtesy of eBay!) lots of thin coats 15 mins between them looks nothing like race blue color and won't until lots of layers and the lacquer is applied (I used a full can!) - the light in my shed is rubbish too. Finished grille, minus the masking tape used on the badge! to put it back together i used a blanket and followed the order i removed it in reverse. Very satisfying to click back in the sides can be tough though. BEFORE: AFTER: Very pleased with the final result. Badge next maybe? Looks very OEM but much better than chrome IMO.

Steps taken to paint the front grille myself
  8. Eh? cut off the back box completely? so no rear silencer? sounds interesting! Also mufflerectomy sounds like you just made it up for giggles I will have a watch of the youtube clip tho!
  9. Takes a few seconds to pop the top of the intake part off and have a look, huge intake but most of the air just flows right through it and hits the closed air box. the pipe itself has a weird looking adapter on too - angled away from the air flow.
  10. Searched and found lots on this for the mk1 but not for the mk2. The standard air intake to air box looks good from the outside but on opening the intake just behind the front grille I was suprised to see that it isn't. Only a very small amount of air actually makes it into the box. Has anyone done a mod for the intake so more fresh cold air is directed in? Thanks!
  11. Buy a plasti-cote kit and spray em up matt/gloss black and see what you think! if you don't like it peel it off! Cheaper than powder coat too

  14. which lamps are you talking about? exterior/interior? If interior check ebay for complete kits, although better to find a page of the exact bulb types needed for each location then buy 8 x 501 bulbs for example. The exterior ones are on canbus so will error if you replace them with leds.
  15. Just had an epic service on my Octy which cost a fortune :-( but was advised of a noisy flywheel. Hadn't noticed it so can't be that noisy. Should I be worried about this? Is my lovely VRS about to go up in a cloud of smoke? Thanks!
  16. Yeah I have the maxi-dot - where is the menu to program the keys?
  17. So I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a way to reset or program remote keys as it is annoying my wife! My key opens all doors with one press of the button. Her key opens the drivers door only with one press, and takes another press to open the other doors for my kids - which She finds highly irritating! :( So is there some way of programming the car remotes? some weird trick that i need to know? Thanks!
  18. When it is raining or has been, my parking sensors become convinced I'm about to crash into something and go on solid alert tone, and red on display. Anyone else had this issue? Any known fixes apart from obviously wiping the ruddy things every time they are wet??!!! Cheers!
  19. So I'm 300 miles off of 40k my question is this - do I rush off and get the gearbox oil changed and service done early? I have 140 days or 1000 odd miles left until I need a service according to the maxi - dot. Any opinions? Thanks!
  20. Have happily used independants in the past with other cars but my Octy is only very young and I want to keep the full (all be it small) Skoda service history! I am doing the pollen filter myself :-) sorry forgot to mention that!
