  1. Well I managed to get a few bits done lately. Picked up a touch up for it so managed to tidy up a lot of the stone chips and scratches about the car. Looks a little better now. Also fitted some of the rear caliper springs to help the relatively new looking callipers last longer. Fitted them and they are still on so that’s a plus, but not sure I can notice any real difference. My handbrake is now a little stiffer and more definite in its action and brakes feel a little better but not sure if it’s placebo or not. Next on my list of wants was to get rid of the only chrome on the car bar the badges, so armed with a roll of Matt black vinyl and the wife’s hairdryer, lots of swearing later it was done. Not brilliant but it will do for now and I’ve got some more to try again. Also debating on a rear box delete as I’d like a little more sound. I’m not in the market for a performance exhaust so figured box delete is the next best thing. Just stuck on whether to do it and whether I want the std tip or twin tips. I also want to black the inners of my headlights. Managed to find some on bookface but the seller was messing about with replying so will probably have a go at doing my own in the warmer weather.
  2. Diesels don’t have an emissions test unless that’s changed. Only petrol engines do. Diesels have a smoke test.
  3. Thank you. I’ll get some proper pictures tomorrow. she’s got her war wounds but generally cleans up well. I really fancy going crazy with Porsche alloys and dropped to the floor, but I won’t. It will be subtle oem+ all the way, maybe with a little added power....
  4. Hi all so this is my project thread. May be less project and more repairs but thought you’d like to see. I’m more of a petrol head than a derv head, but I’ve always wanted one of these little cars. I’ve never driven or been in one before. I’ve come from a long list (some good, some embarrassing) of previous cars and I’m a massive fan of Renaultsport cars, having had 3 of them before. I almost went for another but started looking at the fabia’s again and I was set. Pictures from the advert The rear wiper was broken, it was filthy inside and the metal pedals were missing. So wiper, pedals and a brief interior clean was completed. As some will know, (from my threads on here) my windows wouldn’t work. After lots of investigating, it transpired that not only was the drivers motor fitted incorrect, it was also faulty. After buying 2 replacements I’ve finally solved the issue and the windows work like a charm! No more embarrassment at drivethrus anymore!! (My eldest refused to go with me it was that embarrassing!!) Cleaned and polished it up and added stupid led headlights, which looked cool but didn’t light the road so got changed for normal bulbs. I changed the drop links due to a knock that developed although that didn’t solve all of the noise. So yesterday I braved the cold and changed over the anti roll bar bushes. Can’t believe how £5.85 of rubber can change the drive and sound of the car. I’m no mechanic but it wasn’t a bad job to do. Love how cheap things are on this car! Today I completed the elephant mod (no pictures) and the car feels better for it. Next on the list is probably a new head unit. I’m normally one for keeping the standard look inside, but seeing as there are no steering controls or displays to worry about then I might go for it. Hopefully more to come soon!
  5. I had the look out of the door holes and checked but no visible broken wires. I attempted to test the wires with a multimeter today also, but couldn’t for the life of me work out how to work the thing! The main power wires seemed ok.
  6. My correct part was 6y2959802 and it’s a two pin. My car isn’t a 2005 model. I really didn’t want to buy another motor but I guess that’s the only option if that’s the case. I’m going to get it plugged into vagcom and see what comes back, but it can wait till after Xmas.
  7. I’ve got to this exact problem right now. Fitted a working motor (correct part as the one in when I bought the car was wrong) and it works intermittently, like when messing with wiring or removing fuses as you. @BenAP1221 Does your lock button work on your switch? Mine does so I’m not thinking it could be the switch. @TMB am I wrong?
  8. I know this is an old (very) thread, but I intrigued to find exactly what you did to sort your problem out. I've replaced my window motor with a known working motor/module and it works intermittently as yours was. am I right in thinking the motor/module ive replaced is also faulty?
  9. well I'm confused. spoke with Skoda and you were right, part number 6y2959802 should be fitted. found one local that worked, fitted it and boom all working. came the next morning and nothing again. removed the fuses for a while, replaced them and they all worked again, but soon stopped. what could be wrong? could it be the comfort module under the steering wheel?
  10. hi all, anyone in the cannock or Stafford area have vagcom or vcds please? have a problem with my windows and wonder if that could tell me what the problem is? thanks
  11. Yeah on an iPhone. It just shows the part numbers and the same info all the way down. i Might try and get the one you suggest.
  12. @wino yes, UK supplied right hand drive. I must not be able to see the bits you can on the link you provided. I’ll have a check and see.
  13. No @Wino my rears are old fashioned windy ones.
  14. Here it is. It’s a genuine one (I think). One thing that confuses me is that when I mess with wiring or fuses (remove for 30seconds) both windows work, but the passenger doesn’t work from the drivers switch. The one I’ve found locally is 6Q2959802A and from the drivers side.
