  1. I had the phone call yesterday evening and got the impression that it was a call centre type of setup. It seemed quite a hard sell I thought as I was asked twice to book an appointment right then even though I'd said I didn't want it done at this time and was told I'd also have my "satellite system" updated and any other updates free of charge. I pointed out that I didn't have a "satellite system" in my car and when I asked the caller if he knew of any likely future concerns regarding the life if the EGR or DPF the call was ended. S_M
  2. Yeti FL. Switching on the turn indicator on, the DRL for the direction of the turn dims.
  3. I must have hit the jackpot when I bought my nearly new Yeti in August. As well as a very tasteful shopping bag (black with Heritage Automotive in white and grey) I was given a white cardboard box in which was a litre of oil, a litre of VAG screen wash, a metal Skoda key ring with dummy pound coin for those supermarket trollies, a chamois pad, a scrapper/squeegee and a 12V to USB adaptor. It also came with free textile mats. Tick VG Heritage Skoda, Yeovil. S_M
  4. After two years away and suffering increasingly from Yeti withdrawal symptoms I've bought a second one. It's a lightly used (3k miles) 64 plate SE 110 Outdoor bought from Skoda UK through a local-ish Skoda dealer and very happy so far I am. I was an infrequent poster on this forum (and probably will be again) but always followed the posts of others, where else could one learn of Gummi Pfledg and the use of peanut butter as a cleaning agent? It's good to see there are a few names still here that I recognise. Still no Bobdog I see. S_M
  5. So did I, but I managed to escape through a rift in the space/time continuum. I have to admit that I think loosing the "eyes" is wrong, but seeing the FL in the flesh so to speak, I didn't miss them as much as I had been expecting, it still overall looks like a Yeti.
  6. ...today, at the very back of the back of SMC Skoda, Exeter. It was next to an identically (I think) finished "old" model, both covered in transport protection film. The sales manager told me that two customers had ordered within days of each other and that one of the last "old" and one of the first FL models had turned up. He said that as it wasn't officially available yet and as I had seen it, he had to kill me. S_M
  7. There ought to be an LED (I guess) in there somewhere that SHOULD be replaceable, but is you vehicle still under warrantee? If so, then take it to your dealer. My temperature gauge needle illumination failed about a year ago and the complete instrument cluster was replaced, I was told this was the recommended course of action for a main dealer and could cast the best part of £1200 to fix out of warrantee. The ignition keys need to be reprogrammed at the same time.... Good luck! S_M
  8. Me! ...........and a great model shop it is too.
  9. ...and best wishes from a fellow bus pass owner too. We live in Colyton, the other (and more picturesque) terminus on the Seaton Tramway, so watch out for a red Yeti. I'll try and avoid the Colyford crossing whilst you're driving. There are plenty of Yetis in the area, so yours will feel at home! S_M
  10. Mine was replaced a month or so ago following the failure of the temperature gauge needle illumination. It was posted on here at the time but I can't find it now after a (quick) search. I didn't think to make a note of the mileage recorded at the time, but it's certainly reading very close to the expected value now. Both keys were re-programmed at the time. S_M
  11. Mine also occasionally rattles on start-up, particularly from cold, for a couple seconds. Must go back and re-read the manual, in the mean time I'm keeping a close eye (ear?) on it, 9 months of warranty left....
  12. Towards the end of last summer, my Yeti was around 18 months old at the time, I noticed that the temperature gauge needle illumination had failed. As it wasn't a critical failure and as my nearest dealer is a round trip of some 52 miles, I decided to leave it until the next (second) service. At service time (last January) I reported the fault when booking the service. When I returned to pick up the car, I was told that they couldn't fix the light failure as a replacement part had to be ordered, fair enough. After a couple of weeks I phoned the dealer to check on progress and was told the part had to be ordered from the factory in the Czech Republic. More waiting and several phone calls later (early April now) I was told that the part had arrived (hooray) and as they would be changing the complete instrument cluster, would need both ignition keys for re-programming(?). The work was carried out yesterday and I now have the little temperature needle glowing a friendly white again. When I picked the car up I asked, just for interest, how much the repair would cost out of warrantee. The answer was £800 for parts, plus labour, plus vat, so probably not much change from £1200 to get one panel light working again. I wonder how much an extended warrantee costs................. S_M
  13. Oh yes, stick-on bakalite ashtrys, those were the days. Of course the best arrangment for dealing with smoking by-products was the opening quarter light. With the ciggy between the fingers of the hand clutching the steering wheel at the required "ten past" position (RH drive of course), the slip stream would automatically extract smoke and ash. Luxury. S_M
  14. Received a wave from the driver of a white Yeti travelling through Axmouth yesterday afternoon 15:00ish. I think I caught a glimpse of a Yeti outline sticker around the tailgate "Yeti" badge through my mirror as we passed. Anyone here?
  15. Ah, you were just down the road from me in Colyton. Since moving here from St. Albans last January, we've discovered that East Devon seems to be the natural habitat for Yetis, seeing two or three most days, far more than the one or two (except for JCP's one just round the corner) a week we used to see in St. Albans. So common are they that no-one seems to wave or flash their fellow owners, except for yesterday when I exchanged waves with the owner of a black one as we travelled in opposite diections at the entrance to Tesco's carpark, Seaton. First wave in eight months.
  16. Spotted a white Yeti this morning near Morrisons, St.Albans and recieved a friendly wave from the lady driver. Not sure of the model but it had personalised plates ending in YET. SM
  17. Just rescued my Yeti from the depths of northern India, thanks Marty. S_M
  18. Spotted a white S model early yesterday morning in St. Albans sporting "Doctor on Call" markings. The local NHS must be using them for the out of hours call service. S_M
  19. My replacement LED turns off OK, does it still misbehave if you replace the original unit, if so it may be a faulty tailgate switch/sensor? I did notice recently that if the tailgate is left open for a while (I got chatting to someone whilst loading the boot) that the light dims and flashes quickly, presumably the CAN Bus issuing a warning... Derek
  20. 'Twas indeed me. I'd half expected a new "SMOC sticker spotted" thread to start as a result . Have any other stickers been spotted in the wild? We spent last week house hunting in East Devon, only 3 Yetis seen. We crossed paths with a white one going in the opposite direction in Branscombe village, my wife reported a wave but unfortunately I was busy missing a stone wall and didn't notice, apologies if it was anyone here. S_M
  21. Bought the LED boot light, Yeti footprint sill covers and chrome cup holder surround, all excellent. I also bought the rear bumper protector trim (metal) to try and stop our Border Collie's claws from marking the bumper as she jumps in and out of the back. This proved to be too deep leaving a mm or so of very sharp edge overhanging at the front and back, which would probably have done some damage to the dog's legs at the very least and so was removed with not a little difficulty as the double sided taped certainly gripped OK. It's still lying in the garage, slightly creased. One to write off to experience I think! Delivery from CZ was excellent but, perhaps understandably, as others have said a bit pricey. S_M
  22. Good advice from Yellowyeller, get a spare if you've not used these before. After a few hicups applying my original stickers I re-ordered a second set last Monday afternoon and they arrived Thursday morning, excellent sevice, thanks Dian. I applied the sticker "dry" after cleaning the glass with IPA (not the India Pale sort) and with the benefit of previous experience managed to separate the backing with just a couple of slices with a scalpel and fitted to glass, no problems. S_M
  23. CFB, many thanks for that. My white internal sticker is still on after 24 hours but I've convinced myself it would look better in red to go with the bodywork and so I'll order a couple of replacements and, hopefully, now I almost know what I'm doing, won't need to take up your offer..... Thanks again S_M
  24. My stickers arrived Saturday. I'd ordered one of each internal and external window type and rushed out between rain showers to fix the external one. Dried and cleaned the glass and followed the fitting instructions supplied but, and I'm quite happy to blame my own incompetance, couldn't get the design to release from the backing film. I think I was expecting the design to be printed on a clear rectangle, similar to a car dealers window sticker rather than individual characters and footprint. One sticker scrapped. I then tried the internal one but still could see that the design wasn't releasing properly even after much burnishing down onto the glass with everything fron rubber squeezee to the backs of finger nails, at this point I gave up for the day, left everything as it was and put the car in the garage. Trying again this morning, things went a lot better, however parts of the design were still refusing to separate from the backing and so I resorted to careful surgery with a scalpel blade to tease the design away. All OK now and looking good but I'm not sure how well it will last given the amount of lifting and refixing that's gone on, so I'm planning on ordering a couple more and try again with more experience next time. :wonder: S_M
  25. Just a small thread hijack at this point. Whilst walking our dog the other evening I spied a "JCP" marked Yeti on a driveway. I think we must live about 300yds apart, maybe there should be a "closest Yeti-owning-Briskoda-members in the country" thread...? S_M
