  1. Hope you get sorted, I went for a replacement service book and saw mine was done at 75k, must be about the mileage for it!! Diesel economy! Have put mine up for sale on the auto trader as don't do enough miles in it!!
  2. Can't help with the fault but live on teesside so not too far away, there are local independents such as volkswerk in Middlesbrough may be open tomorrow who can advise or maybe fix. As the name suggests they focus on vw Audi? Out of interest is it a 2.0 tdi? There was a post a couple of weeks ago about cleaning out and putting ad blue in but don't know how successful it would be!! Tom
  3. Mine did this and it was the lower rear suspension arms on the front. They are the curved ones and a common mot failure, loads of threads on here about them Tom
  4. My 20 tdi gave the over boost light just after it was serviced. Heard horror stories of jammed turbo vanes etc. that was six months and 5 k miles ago. Had the code removed and made sure the inter cooler pipe was pushed on and it's been fine since Tom
  5. Do you still have the eBay maf sensor on? they are a really strange thing the mafs the cheap ones can play up, a friend got one from euro car parts which was spot on, might be worth a change. Tom
  6. I have had similar problems it he past with debris from the rim pushing the bead away and deflating tyres. Decent tyre place would only charge about £5 to take the tyre off and clean the rim up.
  7. Bit of an update, got one from my local parts shop for £31. Would get £6 back on surcharge but it has to be reconditionable, mine was in two bits so no chance of that. Very easy DIY job as long as you buy the 17mm hex socket for the hub nut and find a 10mm 12 splined socket. This guide helped a lot http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/b5/CV-boot-broken-replacement.htm Still thinking about selling up though, but we'll see! Tom
  8. Cheers for the advice, hours labour doesn't sound bad, be about five hours of my DIY attempts. Will have a think about selling, its a lovely car but worry about becoming a money pit, would miss the heated leather though Tom
  9. The curse of needing to use my car has struck and the outer cv joint on the ns has collapsed so the car won't drive etc. had a look about passat forums and they describe removing the half shaft, is this the way to go? Also has anyone got any tips on the best kit to use. Saw gsf on other post but can't find the described kit on their online shop, anyone know the part number etc? Think I will fix it mot and sell it! Cheers Tom
  10. Does the car still do this? It might just be a bit of oil on the manifold or engine cover, I had a passat turbo with a rocker cover leak. The oil had a slight drip and made a similar smell to your description. Cheers Tom
  11. Thanks for the advice, am gonna have to give it a go for peace of mind, might try and borrow some wiper pulleys. Unfortunately my hands are like shovels so getting it done with them on will no doubt result in broken plastic!!! Cheers Tom
  12. Ok will give it a try, got to love vw group making cars that aren't waterproof!! Tom
  13. Has anyone fixed their wing mirror downlight? My drivers one is off and has been for a while, everything else on the car works apart from. Skoda tried to sell me a new unit for £50 plus but I was wondering if there was one of the usual vw common faults to be fixed. Cheers Tom
  14. Ok no probs thanks for the advice Tom
  15. Ok cheers, will get wild with the sealant ASAP I think just in case!! Cheers Tom
  16. Is it just a case of removing he foam seal and putting silicone on instead or putting silicone on top of the foam? Cheers Tom
  17. Don't kow if it's any help but my climate control stopped working and it was just the control unit, it's easy to pop out and check the plugs are connected ok or even disconnect and reconnect. The trim around the radio and climate just pulls off and then 4 torx screws undo the control panel and it comes straight out. I think you can check the convenience module, ,it's in a plastic box under the front passenger seat so you will be able to pop it open and check for signs of moisture in there! Hope this helps Tom
  18. I meant on the ground, I think its ok there's certainly no coolant loss. I was just a bit concerned as have been busy lately and haven't done much to the car. I had to top the coolant up a couple of weeks ago but it hasn't lost any since. The climate control thing makes sense as my wife's jazz does it, I am the proverbial tightarse and run the climate on Eco a lot so wouldn't notice!!. I haven't modified the filter housing but I keep an eye on the bungs and make sure when I wash the car the water is running through to underneath, preventative work is very good but I'm always worried about causing problems that aren't there plus my cars oma ban so I always park it with the front downhill so the water doesn't run back to the car Cheers Tom
  19. Did you buy a decent maf sensor, a friend from work got one for local parts place and after a few weeks car was cutting out. Got one from euro car parts and it was fine, other than that I'm not sure. Tom
  20. What does the disc that came with it say the code is? Cheers Tom
  21. Excellent thanks for all the quick replies Tom
  22. Does it not need the fault code clearing with the diagnostic machine? Tom
  23. I have been using a/c all the time now it's cold as the car steams up otherwise, think it's because he recirculate flap went faulty an has been manually opened. Tom
  24. Hello I have the superb 2.0 tdi (I know the obvious answer is sell it, financially embarrassed due to upcoming festive season!!). When I switch off the car there is a hissing noise from the engine bay and seems to be some water on the floor. Haven't been able to have a look yet but wondering if anyone else has had the same fault and can point me in the right direction!! Cheers Tom
