  1. I have used the Bosch Aerotwins but after my second set I got a squeak, no amount of cleaning would stop it and I tried everything, vinegar, Clay bar, window polishes basically I watched EVERY YouTube video on windscleaning and NOTHING worked So I bit the bullet and got PIAA silicon blades from a company called Power-bulbs. No the cheapest but the best. Not quite as easy to fit as the Bosch as you have to choose which adaptor use but they are the best wiper blades I have ever used, totally silent https://www.powerbulbs.com/store/category/wiper-blades
  2. I have had mine from new, been great, almost 80,000 miles in the 7 years, still on original brake pads & disks and the original battery! Only issues I have had, immediately after it’s last MOT, was a broken spring first a front then a week later a rear, both near side, garage blamed speed humps the crap state of the roads and the design of the springs. Oh and sticking fuel cap sorted with a new solenoid. Fuel consumption isn’t amazing but I always get over 30mpg on a run, tend to use my wife’s Abarth for local driving, as it does like a drink in stop start driving, but the worst thing is the Road Fund Licence, over £500 per year which is madness.
  3. I have a 3.6 Elegance estate, owned from new and its fantastic, 70k miles still on original pads and disks only faults I have had are the springs, front one snapped, replaced both fronts then a week later a rear snapped, unfortunate. I also had a company Superb 2.0 TFsi Twin door, did about 40k miles in 30 months, its was good but a lower class then the 3.6 to drive. The front wheels spin easily in the wet on fast pull aways. Only issue I had was it went through 2 batteries, both under warranty, which was odd. I have now retired but the car is still with the company, chatted to a former colleague who says it is drinking oil, a known fault on the 2.0. If you can afford the VED and the fuel consumption, get the 3.6!
  4. No original 2011 reg, I am a smooth and progressive driver, when the mood takes :-), also I am lucky the MPG readout is on my car is super accurate, normally within 1 mpg of actual consumption, this I believe is unusual as some report it being 5-10 mpg out
  5. Funny I get around 36MPG on a long motorway/A road trip, about 32 if I select the sport setting on the gearbox and give it some beans. Yes around town its thirsty, I can live with that but the Road Tax is a KILLER!!
  6. I drive a Mk2 V6 estate, which is 4x4 and I rotate the wheels every 5k miles. I do this for a few reasons: to even out the wear as the fronts tend to wear first; to fully inspect the wheels and tyres for wear and damage plus while the wheels are off I give the inside of the wheels a major clean and wax; finally it means when I change tires I can change all 4 together, very important if you wish to change brands or as I did last time, change to All Season tires.
  7. Thanks 2 sets on the way from Amazon!
  8. Thanks Kevlock :-) Thats just what I wanted to hear, I have 2 sets of K23's in my Amazon basket now! One question, did they fit your Superb straight out the box or did you need to adjust them? I will have a practice as soon as they arrive, not the most adept at technical stuff but if i work slowly through it sure I will be fine, looks easy enough on the youtube videos I have watched. Thanks again for you help and advise
  9. I don't want the cost and hassle of a second set of wheels. I just had a set of CrossClimates fitted which i thought would be perfect until i discovered the area of Northern Italy I an visiting says Snow Chains from 15th Oct, most areas are from Nov when I will be back.
  10. Thanks for this, yes traditional chains do look like a recipe for damage! Funny my biggest worry after needing to use the chains in anger is NOT using them and wasting several hundred pounds :-)
  11. Thanks for your replies, yes did look in the manual but did not want to buy new wheels and tires. Looks like I will need to get the Thule K Summits,£££ however will look at the 7mm Thule CK-7 which claim to fit cars with limited clearance. Anyone used either?
  12. Did look at snow socks but it appears that the police in Europe don't recognise them in areas that have snow chains on warning signs :-(
  13. Hi All Off to the Dolomites later in the year and need a set of snow chains. Has anyone on here fitted them on a Superb with standard 18" alloys? Would like a set that self tension but unsure if the 9mm will fit or I need the thinner 7mm? Finally should I get the (much) more expensive ladder type chain, which fit on easily and have zero clearance issues. Any advise would be great
  14. Well the CrossClimates are rated at 69db, but my old Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 were 70db!! Think we need to take the ratings with a pinch of salt. The Climates are not that loud just a very different note, deeper more of a rumble, noticed most on the M40 on the concrete sections, on smooth tarmac they are fine. Time will tell....
  15. Early days yet, only done maybe 200 miles and all in the dry, however next month I have a trip to Skye and then another to the Dolimites in northern Italy so should know more after then. My only observation so far is they are noisier then my old F1's, not much but you can hear a diffent, coarser sound.
  16. I don't see tyre rating being an issue, I just ordered 4 CrossClimates, 225/40 R18 Y (92) Reinforced, this is the same spec as my current Goodyears and the Conti's before that, the only difference is the CC's are stamped M+S
  17. Well Blackcircles, who I normally use say they are not available, BUT Tyreleader say they have them, see below. Good price but must add fitting. Anyone used Tyreleader?? 18. Could be headwind, has been very windy this week, it its a westerly that could add a little to the difference
  19. Thanks Matt, whats wear like? I got around 25k miles out of the F1's, my superb is 4x4 so wear is very even especially as i rotate every 5k miles
  20. Hi Matt How have your found the Quatracs? They are my fall back option if I can't get the CrossClimates before my current F1's wear out.
  21. Not tried them, yet, but will buy them when fully available. Blackcircles not have them in stock as of this morning
  22. At the end of the day mistakes happen, like posting a Superb issue on the Octavia forum!!! lol Your dealer has sorted the issue, shame they did not just apologise on the day and ask how they could make you happy, but don't let this experience spoil you new car.
  23. Hi The Goodyears on my V6 are down to about 4mm and I would like to replace then with the Cross Climates but they don't appear to be available in 225/40R18 Y 92's. Anyone now when or indeed if, they will be available in this size please?
  24. I do. Approx every 5,000 miles both to keep wear even (though as my V6 is 4x4 they do wear at a fairly even rate) give the alloys a deep clean inside and out plus allows a full inspection of the tyres for cuts or foreign items embedded in them. I also prefer to change all 4 tyres at the same time, helps if I want to switch brands, don't like running odd tyres
  25. Not available even as an option in the UK :-( I had the dog guard fitted, despite no dog, as I often carry kit that goes above seat hight and did not want the risk of items hitting rear passengers in a crash
