  1. I have a couple of 1gb sticks gathering dust..not matched unfortunately.. An Elixir PC2 6400 and a Samsung PC2 4200 Not sure how or if they will run together..think they just default to running at the slowest speed. If you havn't been sorted out yet I could post them and you could try em out...not too worried about payment..maybe just the price of a pint or two if they work !! Just send me a message if you are interested.
  2. I have a set of Microlab FC330 's and they sound fantastic for the money..they are actually far too cheap !! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microlabs-FC330-Model-System-Speaker/dp/B0040N3BQI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358963993&sr=8-1 Check the reviews out..
  3. I've had a couple of vmax runs and it's not been too bad..not squeaky bum time but slightly nervous.. felt nowhere near as "planted" as my last couple of cars (Astra vxr and GSi)
  4. I'm just a scruffy git.. the cars not been washed in 6 months Side windows get sponged over occasionally..
  5. It seems to depend a lot on where you live..And if going vastly over the limit you are pretty unlikely to be offered a speed awareness course.I was caught doing 58 in a 50 a couple of yrs ago and was offered the course.
  6. Mine was never "nursed" from new..I drove it reasonably quickly for the first 500miles and after that thrashed it if I felt like in the mood ..Oil consumption was approx 1L/1500miles up to about 10000 and now at 14.5k and it seems gradually to be using less. I've never given fuel a thought but generally put tesco momentum in plus random top ups with 95ron
  7. I seem to have gone bonkers buying all sorts of old hi-fi kit recently The collection includes.. CD players-- Marantz cd-63 KI sig,Pioneer PD-S505 Precision,Philips Cd850 Mk2,Marantz Cd52se with valve output stage,Rotel RCD865BX LE,Philips CD303,Marantz CD65 with NOS mod,Marantz CD63 with Chevron audio upgrades. Amps include Pioneer A400,Wharfedale 2050a modified by TenAudio,Kenwood KA3020SE,newer stuff Exposure 2010S,HLLY 90 T-amp, a little FatMan tube amp, a Music Angel XDSE YC-808MK tube amp with 4x KT88,replacement RCA 6SN7GTB's, bought whilst very drunk, regardless of poor interweb reviews on cheap chinese amps it sounds pretty amazing and hasn't "melted" yet. Speakers include AE109's,Royd Minstrels and Squires, Focal JMlab 716s(for my surround system) Recently bought a Rotel RP-850 turntable for £12 and re-discovered my old vinyl collection
  8. Might be more trouble than it is worth I guess..the car is leased by my employers..the insurance is a policy obtained by my employer for "Any motor vehicle the property of the policyholder or in their care custody or control" We have our "own" cars but can drive any of the other company cars if the need arises...I could always ask about driving the car modified but I suspect I know the answer already !!
  9. Looks like an ideal solution for mine as it's a company car..I assume Skoda techies would not be able to detect it has been fitted if I remove it prior to a service ?? My only problem i guess would be removing it quickly in the event of a breakdown...or worst case the engine blowing  ..not sure of insurance implications either if i had an accident..mmm VRS-Powered..do you think it would be as quick to remove as to fit ?? tempted to take the risk for a bit of extra ooomph..lol
  10. Oh dear..I'm slightly mortified at all these mods I'm missing out on for the sake of a grand or so..mine is a company car and I'm too much of a wimp to risk getting caught out :( A very smug looking "twit"..I can think of a similar word.. sailed past me on the M60 the other day in his BMW 123D There wasn't too much difference but annoying anyway.
  11. Nice one marTTyn..I ordered the interior led's as per the ebay links (or similar) Good and cheap little mod with useful results !!
  12. Not quite in 2stroke bike territory From what I've read it is "within tolerance" think 1L/600 or 800 miles is deemed acceptable for the TSI
  13. 60 plate 12k miles No issues with DSG oil consumption 1L/1500miles Minor rattles from glovebox/passenger door areas.. drivers seat "squeaked" a bit at first but has gone now !
  14. Looks good in white !! Regarding the running-in/oil guzzling issues.. I didn't exactly hang around from new..mine still uses a fair bit of oil..approx 1L/1500miles,not overly excessive but doesn't seem to be getting any better with age..up to 12k now.
  15. 90 ish average here too.. 100-104 after a good "run" !
  16. Build quality does seem to vary ! Luckily mine has had no problems (60 plate) only an intermittent minor rattle somewhere within the passenger door..My fuel consumption seems to be getting better,Struggled to get over 40mpg at first..now I can easily get 40/45 at normal motorway speeds and 30/35 commuting,I've had low 50's when sitting with the HGV's.Front tyres are getting close to renewal at 10k miles so I've hardly been pottering around I've had a go in a swift sport and they are pretty entertaining !
  17. yea..sorry about that, hope no-one bought it purely because of this.. Evo is normally worth buying anyway. They tend to do a substantial review of their long termers every 2/3 months with little snippets like this along the way.
  18. Quote from the latest edition of Evo........they have a vRS estate on long term test, This month has been about getting to know the Fabia vRS,and I'm actually speechless. Many people who know me would say that's impossible, but the vRS is actually very good.My prejudices about the brand have been blown out of the water-this is a good car.Only time will tell if it turns into a great car.
  19. The genuine VW stuff look like a good deal for £3..car due for a service so will have to get some when it's in.I used the Lidl/W5 stuff last winter and had no problems with it..pretty much neat tho..The pre-mixed stuff from tesco/asda is pretty crap once it gets to -2/3C defeating the object of it :S The claims to -5C seem to be bullsh1t..
  20. Tesco 99 for me too.. Mainly because Tesco fuel is about a mile from my house..it's a company car.. and clubcard points I've put 95 ron in fairly often and not noticed the difference..maybe I'm just insensitive
  21. I've just clocked 9k in mine..It's used about 3L of castrol edge..Drove it fairly normally from new..thrashed it now and then when the oil got up to temp..Some people have suggested the consumption would get less with time..It seems the same albeit not excessive by the sound of it..I have to top up a little every couple of weeks.
  22. I'd forgotten how shiny my black wheels were until I washed it recently..they had taken on a grey appearance !! Still..It didn't look bad covered in muck..Just too busy enjoying driving it :p
  23. Best 48.8mpg on a 55-60mph run on a quiet motorway.. Worst 23mpg on a manic lake district blast.. Low 40's at legal clear motorway speeds.. Low 30's on urban commute..
  24. There is a nice plate available at DVLA...For any vRS I guess, A little pricey though.. VR55 EXY And prob illegal if you re-arrange it !! £2655
