Actual not. Because this engine is made in such way that valves and pistons doesn't hit each other if the belt breaks. Means if it happens the task is just to mount a new belt and tensioner. Really a low risk engine.

There is a TPI on it. Our's also had the problem. Som needs a new gearbox control box and others just need the new SW. Problem is that the clutch grabs too quickly in cold weather and when engine RPM's drops below a certain setpoint, then it disengages and stay there until a reset has happened (ign off-on).

Hi, yes my wife had same problem. There is a Software update for the gearbox solving the problem. We experience it engages the gear more soft in cold weather after the update (more revs to get moving).

I use ODIS. Same tool as the auth dealers use. The tool is not enough, you will need deep knowledge of how to use the hidden special functions + a BCM remap tool. The last thing is invented by me. It has cost me a lot of time so I do not share it. But in fact if you are clever you can do as me. Buy the ODIS tool and start reverse engineer the car. Thats how I did it.

I have been fiddling with noise problems from the rear tires and have tried several things. The main conclusion is that the factory spec of rear camber is equal with noise ! In no time heel and toe will come to the rear tires. When you in next season move those tires to the front, the problem just gets more evident. My car is very quiet now and there is no problems any more. Solution on my cars was: 1. Forget the stupid factory spec of rear camber. Up to -1 50' is allowed. Completely crazy. Go for -0 40'. Factory toe spec is fine (+0 10') 2. Use factory spec tire pressure + 10% 3. Use a silent tire, not the factory mounted P7 crap. I use Hankook Ventus Prime 2. Very silent tire. 4. Use modified X when rotating the tires. Means front tires goes straight to the back (LF -> LR + RF -> RR) and the back tires go crossed to the front (LR -> RF + RR -> LF) - This does not apply to tires with one way rotation. This rotation scheme minimizes tire noise. If you want to check your camber it is very easy. It is just a triangle measurement. A string, a nut, 1" of tape, calculator and a ruler. Most people can do the camber measurement in their own driveway for 50p. Adjusting requires some basic tools, but must be accomplished by a toe measurement / adjustment.

It can be coded out, but you need special OBD tool to do it. Pop by here in Denmark and I will help you out.

Disable the bulb check via diagnostics and you can fit whatever you want.

I have decoded the BCM module here, means I can remap the settings in it to whatever light setup that is wanted. This means that Bulb check can be disabled on whatever bulb I want. Therefore bulbs can now be coded into the BCM whether they are fillament or LED individually - No need of any load resistors. Also I can remove the annoying 3 blinks during startup in the DRL, when they are replaced by LED's. Same with indicators lights. This came from updating a Superb with FL LED tail lights where many hours was spend in my garage, because in 2010 some "******" Superb was made - wiring not as the rest. In the end it was solved and the car is working with 2015 LED tail lights. This many hours did leave a lot knowledge, so it ended up that I decoded the whole module. I did a car today fitting the new LED tail lights and remaped the BCM in 30 mins ! It is really fast now to do this upgrade. No change of BCM is needed no longer + extra wiring (described in many forum's) is also not needed anymore. It is now direct replacement. So if any of you British Skoda Superb drivers come to Denmark with wishes similar to the above, pop by and I can help you out :sun:

Another correction: I meant long press on the up/dn wheel. Could be understood as long press on the actual phone button. The AutoDAB is not the most intuitive system in regard to user interface..

Hi Rod and other readers. First: The superb multi steering wheel comes in mainly two variants in regards to button layout. A: Car with factory phone module, has a phone button. B. Car without factory phone module, has a * (star) button instead. The main problem I found is that the AutoDAB module is made for B. I have the factory fitted phone module and hence the phone button. To get the AutoDAB working you need the STAR button which is NOT there. In this case you just end up with system saying "AUTODAB" in the speakers every 10 sec or so. Solution is to disable the phone button in the BCM with VCDS, it will then act as a star button and you can access the menu. The phone will need to be operated from the MFD after this (because no phone button anymore). Secondly the phone module also monitors the phone button (and it does not care whether it is configured as phone or star). Skoda wise long press is activation of voice input, means everytime you make a long-press for the AutoDAB you will also start up the voice command system for the phone. Solution: Disable the voice command system in the phone module and live without. 1: If this is the only thing you need VCDS for, then forget it. Find a VAG fellow near you and buy him a pint for helping. If you decide this is something you need, go buy the VCDS cable from Ross-tech. It is superior to any else on the marked for VAG cars. As I remember it, a Ross-Tech cable is around 300£, and please .. forget the china copies, it is too expensive, you will end up with the original anyway. Hi RodM. Sad it did not work out. After reading the long story of yours I am thinking: 1. He forgot to modify the BCM and the phone module with VCDS. 2. You did turn on ignition at a time without the RNS frame on, because then the "Pass Airbag" lamp will be disconnected and a reset needs to be done with VCDS. Solution: Refit it all again, find a skilled VCDS person and it will work. You are welcome here, but I am in Denmark. On the other hand maybe its on your way back from Afghanistan :-) Trust me, I have been there and my grey hair was starting to grow first time I meet this issue. So if you are without VCDS you did not have a chance to get it work. Frustating, but true ... I was also in contact with Connect2 first time I meet this issue, and they don't know anything about what they are selling. I got the feeling that it is a box developed in the far east and Connect2 is just a sales office.

No it can't. It is either E or W map, not in combination.

It is both. Language in firmware has to match the map. If you stick to stock firmware and map you will always be safe.

I installed a Columbus with DAB in mine + a DAB antenna in the roof (hole is there from the factory). Excellent reception and it is very nice everything is working when it is integrated. I had an AutoDAB module with my Bolero before, but this is better.

I am annoyed with the volume resolution (I have a Bolero radio). Very often the sound is too low and turning the volume one step up, then it is too loud. Also the roll-controls in the steering wheel is bad engineered. Very often I can turn them one click without anything happening. I must admit that then I get a response back from a button in my fingers I also expect that something is happening. Maybe I am just expecting too much.

Yes ... arrrrghhh .. this dreadful "registration tax". My own Superb was about 62.000 £ ... urrghhh .. I was offered the Columbus with DAB incl. a GPS antenna and a DAB antenna (the one from the VW transporter) for 1130 £ as a DIY kit. I don't know if you consider that expensive or not, but here it is slightly more than the Columbus without DAB.

Columbus is now available with build-in DAB. I am considering it, but it is a quite expensive unit - maybe after christmas ....

In most LED-bulbs in the high power scale, like the BA15S on Superb there is no voltage drop resistor inside. Most of these bulbs has a small DC/DC converter inside. The smaller onces, like for sidelights, has a drop resistor. Just saying there is LED bulbs with different technologies outthere, they are not all the same.

Mine has the same issue and if I stick the filler pistol more that 50% in, I have difficulties to get it out again. In the beginning I found it a bit annoying, but now I am just used to it - just like I feel the tank is 10 liters too small for the car.

Hi CRV. Its the crome part with the badge on the front. This crome part has a kind of sharp edge. This edge is pressed against the paintwork (clever design ). It is very difficult to spot, but if you see a kind of a small white line in the groove between the crome part and the paintwork, then for sure rust is on its way. I took of the crome part for doing the work at a bench and got quite chocked what I saw underneath.
