  1. We got a low mileage second hand cat for a Fabia 1.2 from Catalyticuk, Sale and UK distribution of catalytic converters and exhaust systems Ring him and discuss, he will post to anywhere. It was actually from a Polo that had been written off. We got a local back street cheap garage to fit it. I think the cat was £120, postage £20 and the fitting was £50. The only problem is that the polo and fabia heat shield mountings are different, so the shield looks as if it is not fitted correctly but still does the job. Flies through emissions test now:)
  2. At what mileage does the fuel filter need changing. I presume that is a straightforward job?
  3. It was a spark plug issue - all fixed now, thanks
  4. Found one plug gap was wider than the others - made it smaller and misfire gone:)
  5. Just to let people know the outcome of this (in case anyone needs to fit a cat) we managed to get hold of a cat from a written-off 2004 1.2 Polo. It is identical except for the mounting brackets for the heat shield but we manged to fettle that. The cat is integral with the exhaust manifold so it is quite trick to DIY unless you are reasonably skilled. Saved a lot of money!
  6. I am used to using VAG-COM. My mate has a Merc and was wondering if there is anything similar for mercedes?
  7. Went round the block a couple of times, my son driving and me in the passenger seat with VAG COM laptop. Measuring blocks 14 & 15 - one misfire recorded. Is it OK to have the occasional misfire. At what level would cat damage occur? (Fabia 1.2 6V).
  8. My son's 1.2 6V needs a new cat. Main dealer has quoted
  9. Well, my Passat does 700 miles on a (bigger) tank, so no reason why a (lighter) Fabia with the same engine should not
  10. I asked the same question a year ago and got the correct answer - you have to PULL PULL PULL - HARD!!!!!!!!!!
  11. The Citroen Berlingo Multispace has done well and I see the Roomster as a more sophisticated competitor.
  12. ......in the Czech Republic, on a business trip. Two were on the open road, one was in a dealers showroom and one was on display inside Prague airport. The only one I got close to was at the airport. Looks good in the flesh. There seemed to be loads of back seat leg room. Czech Repubic is Skoda Heaven. Every other car is a Skoda. Next most popular is VW. A few French cars, not many Jap. Even followed a Trabant for a while!
  13. Is the 1.4 TDI chain cam, like the 1.2 petrol?
  14. Just wondered - there have been various spy pics, it looked like an Audi A3 in one (but the pic was very fuzzy).
  15. Nok, I have replied to your PM Rog PS Car looks great.
  16. Got our serial cable off ebay for £25. Downloaded the software "from the internet". Do a few searches or try p2p.
  17. Has your laptop got a VGA socket? You might be able to plug a standard monitor into it - we did that when our laptop screen was smashed.
  18. They are the same. VW do the 54 and 64 bhp versions, so 6V and 12V. I had the 6V polo as a courtesy car.
  19. I will have silicone sealant gun ready! Thanks as always.
  20. I am going to try to seal the plate that holds the window mechanism, to try to stop water getting into the Furby (as suggested by Lummox). I will need to remove the rear door cards. Can't see any screws. Could anyone who has done this please advise?
