Mk 2 VRS TDi to Superb 170...what's your experience?
muunster19 replied to Biffo's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
I have superb 170cr elegance on 18" rims the ride is awful , I have changed them to 17" with winter tyres for winter and the ride is greatly improved , I still prefer the wifes mk2 Octavia . -

winter tyres & steel wheels. superb 3.6
muunster19 replied to james0james's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
18" winter tyres are pretty much useless when the going gets rough , the general rule is drop down to 17" or if possible 16" to get the best results in snow / winter conditions . -
Has anyone had a superb 170cr dpf deleted ,if so what was the performance gain or mpg gain , no issues with car just a customer wanting to gain bhp.

Which one should I go for?
muunster19 replied to Gooner_Mike's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
The performance in the 170 is superb for a car of this size, admittedly the handling is barge like at times , fords are fords at best and not really in the same league for reliably or longevity as vag models -
SKODA OCTAVIA GREENLINE II AWFUL MPG ( GREENLIE )
muunster19 replied to Octycab's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hi , I have 1.6cr tdi elegange not the greenline you have , but I have noticed a least 10mpg less than the previous 1.9 pd I ran , I assume this down to the 1.6cr , dpf , and poor gearing on the the newer models , I have had car checked out at main dealer with no faults found , The response I get is the car has same torque as 1.9 , it delievers it differently , *******s , the 1.6cr is down on low down torque (where taxi drivers need it ) , Down on MPG again where taxi drivers need it and down on reliability where taxi drivers need it . the octavia 1.6 cr tdi in any form is a poor performer !!!! -
use dexo2 youl be fine

Skoda Octavia 2009 1.9tdi acceleration fault
muunster19 replied to andynicol's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Have you checked the small bore vacuum hoses .hey can be brittle and leak at this age and can give all sorts of red herrings in faults diagnosis.- 22 replies

clutch pedal, is it normal
muunster19 replied to DanialA11's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have had this twice with 2 different Octavia 1.9tdi . 1) the clutch master cylinder rod was broken at the pedal causing a 1/4 inch gap before the play was taken up before the clutch engaged ,a light click noise was present I assume when the broken rod connected , a new master cylinder cured fault . 2) air appearing in clutch hydraulic system , I replaced both master and slave cylinder with good quality parts and bleed the fault was cured , when replacing the master cylinder rod to pedal connection be careful with the 2 plastic ball clips at the pedal . -
Loosing Coolant 2012 1.6TDI
muunster19 replied to bris24's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Water pump leaks common on 1.6cr tdi before timing belt due , so make sure its due under warranty !!!! -
the sensor is the first point of call for fault diagnosis and an easy fix , this is not the only cause of dpf failures and to suggest such if just wrong , do yourself a favour speak to a vw engineer they are all skilled in forced regenerations they can all tell you how common failed dpfs are , the cost to replace is far more than the cost to remove , removal transforms the performance and mpg , no one in there right mind would replace in a vehicle 3-4 year any mayby 130000m . the cause of failed regenerations is mostly switching the engine off during regeneration and it logs in the ecu as a failed regeneration , do this a few times and the light will come on requiring a forced regeneration to clear . this is an every day occurance for us in all the different models we look after .it is not just common to vw /skoda ,Mercedes , bmw , most main brands ,using a diesel on short runs ie school runs ,taxis, in general any short low speed city travelling will cause premature dpf failure .
-
if there's no issues with dpf what's the point of this and many other similar threads on this and every other forum like it . I bow to your wisdom reverend dieselmister!

I changed dmf to valeo smf kit at 100k it lasted to 200k when I traded car in . this was good move car was more confident to drive , it did not ruin performance or mpg , on my BKE engine there was not a concentric slave cylinder , but remember to lubricate to replace the clutch pivot pin .
-
Sorry to remind you of the fact most diesel skodas and cars in uk are taxis "not a real world comparision" , this is fact I have not myself had an issue with dpf , but this is the real world , real people get the dpf removed and remapped .
-
I have both cars , Octavia in 1.6 cr elegance and superb 2.0 cr 170 elegance , to be very honest the Octavia is a better all round car in respects of the size and refinement of drive , the only down side for the 1.6 cr Octavia is the engine .the superb is not as easy to handle, is a bit of a barge in handling but the saving grace is the 2.0 cr 170 engine ,it is as economical as the 1.6 in the Octavia , alot more powerful and has more presence on the road . If I had a mix of both cars it would be a mk 2 Octavia with 2.0cr , but avoid the 1.6 cr . I have also had a mk 3 Octavia on demonstrator and found it mediocre in styling and performance . I realise this is a very mixed review but it is down to what you do with your car ie mostly town / country = Octavia , mostly motorway = superb . under any circumstance avoid the 1.6 cr diesel.
-
Are you kidding most cr diesel have dpf issues , most taxis have full dpfs at around 130,000 miles approx / 2.5 years old, they then get then gutted and rempped .

1.9 pd non dpf is the only choice for any skoda the pluses are to many to mention , any other engine has to many problems ie poor economy , dpf , injectors .

Clutch pedal "thudding"
muunster19 replied to slashDevSlashNull's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have had this on mk2 Octavia I found the master cylinder rod at the clutch pedal end to be broken the clutch still worked, but found when depressing the pedal there was a delay and noise as the broken rod connected , I replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder at the same time bleed the system and the fault as solved . it was caused by the ball end of the rod at the pedal end was seized -
