  1. I am just glad it is now sorted. I wonder how many other people with the same first four digits got the same letter from them as me in a vain attempt to get a result. Just glad I had the proof my car was stationary at home and the CCTV had not been overwritten. Doesn't inspire confidence in the police powers of investigation maybe that part of the system is farmed out to a third party? I am sure whoever was involved in the accident and was prepared to drive away wouldn't bother to respond to a letter from them anyway.
  2. Problem now resolved after sending the investigation unit a letter enclosing screenshots of the CCTV of my car on the drive at the time of the alleged offence. They phoned me today to tell me they were happy my car wasn't involved and would be sending me a letter to confirm this. Apparently a witness had given them only the first four digits of the offending reg plate and as my car had the same first four digits and was the closest registered vehicle to the offence was thought to be involved? They didn't even have the make and model of the vehicle involved just the partial plate. Thanks for the comments and advice on this one.
  3. When it is hopefully resolved will put a private plate on and check out the bullet proof vests on EBAY?
  4. No picture just the reg number quoted. But the car is fitted with a tracking device which will prove the car was not involved?
  5. Shocked to receive a letter today from greater Manchester Police alleging a car with my reg number was involved in a fail to stop after a collision a month ago in an area I have never been. They are asking me to provide the name and address of the driver. On that day my car was on my drive all day and I have the CCTV to prove it never moved off the drive. I can only assume it is a mistake or someone has cloned my reg plate. Has anybody any experience of this happening to them and what is the best thing to do next? Tried to phone them today but straight to answerphone as they only work during the week. There can't be many GTI Clubsports driving round the Manchester area? The options on the form are me saying I was the driver or name the driver who was, there is no section to say it wasn't my car involved. I am worried that if someone has got a set of plates made of my reg this will just be the start of a lot of pain.
  6. Price for Matterhorns £300 Steelies £150 Dezent £200 sorry for rule infringement.
  7. Now I am Skodaless for the first time since 2004 it's time to make space in my garage. I have 3 sets of wheels and tyres for sale plus various other bits and pieces which I will list below which will be of use to someone on here, if you are interested in any of the items pm me and we can come to an agreement on the price before I have to put them on Ebay and we all know what an experience that can be. Everything for sale is pickup only not prepared to go down the courier route sorry. Set of wheels No.1 4 x Skoda Yeti Matterhorn wheels (5L061025F) 7J x 17 ET45 5x112 they are shod with Nokian ZLine 225/50 ZR17 98Y XL tyres with 7mm tread remaining. The wheels are in good condition with no curbing or cracks but really close inspection there is a little milkiness to the lacquer on the silver bits hardly noticeable. These alloys are stupidly expensive to buy from a dealer and would make your Yeti on 16's look good or put winters on the rims? Set of wheels No. 2 4 x Dezent Black 7.5J x 16 ET35 5x112 alloy wheels shod with Vredestein Snowtrac3 winter tyres 205/55/R16 91H M&S. The wheels are in good condition with 7-8mm tread left. There may be slight storage marks but are in really good condition. I will supply wheel bolts and spiggot rings for the fitment of these wheels plus either Skoda or VW wheel centres as well. Set of wheels No. 3 4 x Steel wheels for Yeti or Octavia with Continental Conti Winter Contact TS 830P 205/55/R16 91H M&S the wheels are in good condition and the tyres still have 7-8mm tread left on them, I will also supply a set of black wheel trims to go with these. Also a full 5 piece set of rubber mats for the Skoda Octavia MK3 estate. Were in the car for less than a month so in good condition. Parts 5E2 061 550 and 5E9 061 160 for the boot mat. £40 Full set of Octavia MK3 front and rear mudflaps parts 5E0 075 101 and 5E0 075 111 still in packaging as don't fit the Scout? £25 Aluminium ABS bootlip protector for MK3 Octavia estate part 5E9 064 711B never fitted to the car still in packaging. £20 Finally set of rubber mats for Skoda Yeti part no 5L2 061 550 in good condition. £15 Lots of information I know so sorry for any mistakes in the details. If you want to make me an offer for any of the above do so in a private pm thanks. Pictures of Matterhorns now attached.
  8. Problem swiftly and amicably resolved today in Huddersfield have returned the car for a refund and even got a lift home. My faith in online forums has been restored think they made a difference to the outcome.
  9. Thanks for the contact details of David Allen it is much appreciated will try and contact him later today in office hours. I always do things by the book with cars can't believe I have been caught out this time? I am avoiding driving the car now but have to use it to get to work though.
  10. Apparently I'm in breach of section 43c of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 by using the car. The advice I have been given is that the dealer has cheated me by selling me a car registered to the dealership as a demonstrator in order to secure a bigger discount from the manufacturer. They are in breach of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (CPRs) that creates an offence of 'misleading omissions'. I can leave that car with the dealer and demand my money back in full. Going to see my solicitor today to get advice on my next move. The dealer in question promotes itself as having family values and integrity and treating you as a member of the family but are quite happy for me to drive about in one of their cars illegally.
  11. Think I've made a schoolboy error? Traded in my Yeti for a Scout back in July from DM Keith in Huddersfield deal was OK but a bit out of my local area. On pickup day as mine was on a private plate the salesman said he would send the V5 after he received the V5 for mine which I did in a week saying I should have the V5 for the new one in 3 weeks. That was my mistake left the dealer without the new keeper section! After a month I contacted the salesman without response so then contacted Skoda customer services who were very sympathetic and contacted the dealer who said they had sent the V5 to the DVLA and I should have it soon. We are now in September and still no V5 so gave the DVLA a call who told me in no uncertain terms they hadn't received anything from DM Keith and that as the law had changed I shouldn't be driving the car as it wasn't taxed in my name. So then a 40 mile round trip to the garage to see what was going on. Talked to a guy there not the salesman who sold the car to me, who said that they hold onto the logbooks for 90 days and that should of been explained to me at the time of sale which it wasn't or I would not of bought the car! He seemed to think it was no big deal as the car is taxed but not by me. Have contacted customer services again but though they are very sympathetic they are toothless and have little power over the dealers. So where do I stand legally do I just wait to the middle of October for the V5 but what about my car insurance? What if I get pulled up or have an accident and I am not on record as the registered keeper so might end up being prosecuted for no tax. I will learn from this mistake and not leave without the new keeper section in my hand next time. I am sure people will say this is normal practice for pre-reg cars but with the road tax changes has increased the chance of problems for the new owner.
  12. Traded in the Yeti outdoor 170 Elegance last week after less than 6k miles for a Octavia Scout 150, nothing wrong with the Yeti in fact it is the perfect car for me as I have had 3 of them. The only reason for the change is boot space and the need to lift out the seats to get my bike in the back plus the fact I had the beige leather seats which tend to get dirty quite easily although were easily cleaned with leather polish. First couple of days I thought what have I done as the Yeti was so much better to drive with the higher driving position and more direct steering. Had my first decent run in it this weekend to Wales where I go most weekends and it passed the test and was really impressed with the way it performed and I am sure it will improve as the mileage increases. Would like to put mud flaps on it but the ones on Superskoda say not for use on the Scout can somebody confirm the part number without me needing to do a search as TPS is just up the road from me so easy to order. Also I have a spare set of Matterhorn alloy wheels and tyres from the Yeti which I would like to fit on the Scout which I think would look good as the car is grey has anybody else done this?
