  1. Thanks for that, the diagnosis is free and as it has an ambient heat issue ( it shuts down if the car interior gets hot when parked in the sun) I will take advantage of their free diagnosis and quote…. Obligation free I can take it home if its too expensive. regards. Rob
  2. Hi, thanks very much…… probably will have a go my self, but found these guys on Youtube… they offer a full diagnostic and repair service for VAG vehicles only… will see what they say satnav systems KT6 7NL 0808 222 0000 satnavsystems.com
  3. Hi everyone, My 2017 Yeti 150 outdoor’s Sat Nav has been playing up for some time… the screen would freeze in hot conditions which could be sorted by switching off and re booting, but sadly now an area of the navigation touch screen has stopped working when one is entering post codes….. assuming it cant be fixed Skoda Dealer told me a New One including 2 hrs to fit it would be around £2,000.00 plus the vat I don't doubt. Can anyone help me ? Do I have any repair or refurb / 2nd hand options…. ebay have one only but its the wrong part number My part number is 5L0035680E IZY. Many thanks. Rob
  4. Yes, so we are told, but plenty of speculation as to why ? it beggars belief when you think of the world financial mess we are in, punters out ther with their cheque books open, ready to buy within VAG, how many UK businesses would love that kind of problem ? and yet no credible expanation to keep would be customers on side, and it would appear no willingness to speed up production to reduce the waiting times. I think they just don't want to employ more people to build more engines, but that, you would think has to be balanced against the many that choose to buy outside the group. What do you think ?
  5. Try Auto Scratch .co.uk ?
  6. NINE DAYS !!!! GRRRRR I would be .........Don't try it DIY, not for a paint loss as big as 2 pence piece, you will not be happy with the result, try chips away and or the mobile dent men what ever they call themselves, will be cheaper than dealer appointed body shop, think twice about contacting your ins co, as just the mention of a not your fault incident CAN be logged against you ! and may affect future premiums ! (how do they get away with stuff like that )
  7. Hi, I am the biggest fan of VAG diesels, but I would say 8-10k miles per yr is petrol suited rather than diesel. Do the maths, fuel cost V mpg and the extra cost to buy the diesel car and then guestimate the re sale value when you think you will part with it.I think you would have to do at least 20k per yr to justify a diesel on cost difference alone, at least VAG diesels will do 250-350 k plus without engine work,if looked after, I dont think the top end of any petrol engine would last half that , without the need for a refit to keep it running A1. But very few of us keep cars for 10-15 yrs to see the result. My own A4 Avant 2.0 TDI is 6yrs old and only done 72,000 miles, was it worth the diesel over a petrol in bean counter speak ? who knows, but I just love the way it delivers the power and the way it drives.
  8. How has the Yeti changed after the remap ? faster to 60mph no doubt, but has the MPG gone down as a result ?
  9. Don't forget guys, fully synthetic oil, most of it comes out of a science lab not out of the ground, and has been shown to have the ability to greatly exceed sevice intervals, I forget the exact details of the tests they did at the time it came out, but they ran a BMW K motorcycle engine ( basicly a small car engine on its side)on the same oil for somthing like 100,000 miles and then took it apart and found no significant ware on the cylinders, It all depends on your anual mileage when you change it,I prefer the advice of the VAG agents not a pundit, nice man he may be. my own vehicles run on longlife oil,20,000 miles between changes and have done for many yrs with no probs and no damage to the engines, and you would soon know if the rings, valves, or cylinders were failing through lack of oil changes, you would have excessive oil consumption and blue smoke......Simples.
  10. I also think the Parkers calculator is neat, but Please someone tell me I am wrong, I would think break even can't just be based on better MPG and mileage taken to do it, what about when you sell the diesel, wouldn't you expect to get more for the diesel ? and therefor get some of the cost difference over a petrol model back, lets face it many used Audi Avants for example are sought after....(diesels)
  11. I was trying to get a sense, of weather the Yeti or 4 x 4's in general rev slightly higher or the same at any given speed compared to ordinary cars, for example two cars driving at say 65 MPH in top gear with the same engine, but different gear ratios would return different MPG figures over the same distance
  12. Yeh, with a view hopefully to understanding what it is that makes a lighter yeti less economical than a heavyer estate car both of witch have the same engine
  13. Having looked at the Yeti with great interest over the past month or so, on this forum and in the flesh at a dealers, I wondered what makes one sort of vehicle more or less economical than another ? my own car, an Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI 140 6 speed manual (B7) 6yrs old, 78,000 miles, well looked after, returns between 40 - 53 MPG (checked full at the filler kneck) depending how its driven, and I am sure if just confined to motorway and speeds of no more than 60 MPH on a long run would do even better. I had thought the difference in MPG between A4 and the Yeti 20. 140 TDI's must be: 1. the distribution of power to all four wheels , 2. aerodynamics (shape of the Yeti and the fact its high offf the ground) 3. Weight ( assuming the Yeti to be more robust and more complex ie the drive train etc etc ).........................................But NO , the Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI 140 manual is 110KG's heavier ! thats 242lbs or 17 1/4 stone, that in my book is a big person ! mmmmm ? kind of gets you wondering , there must be more to it, What about RPM in top gear the A4 in 6th does: 50MPH @ 1500RPM, 60MPH @ 1800 RPM, and 65MPH @ 2000RPM What do you Yeti owners do in terms of RPM at given speeds ?
  14. Thanx for the replies, and all that great info, I like the sound of the BF Goodrich AT's , but a quick look at the tyre size comparison site, surgests the circumference difference will be too great for gauging ones speed, the problem is the Googrich AT's smallest sidewall is 70 and depending on the tyre width could see circumference diffs of up to 9%, So the Yokohama Geolander 215/60/R16 looks a very good option and by accounts it should be a good tyre for long life as well as good on/off road performance. I think it would be wonderful if the factory would give an option for Yeti SE & Elegance to be fitted with 16inch wheels from new, Great idea !
